Yes, it's disgusting to us now because we know better. But, if it's not the type of thing you can stomach in a drama, don't watch a historical drama. Look for a modern drama. You do have dramas like legend of fei were the women are treated better but it's few and far in between. Because this is simply how the women were treated back then. They were abused. And the husband would rarely be seen to be at fault. In these dramas, they do actually blame the men a bit more than in rl. Again, yes, we understand the toxic aspects of it because we have better awareness now. But, these dramas aren't representing our time frame nor our current beliefs.
