I Waited TWO Hours for POPEYES Chicken! (London Opening)

- ► Join me as I queue TWO hours to try my favourite fried chicken at Popeyes OPENING week in London's Westfield in Stratford City. This is the FIRST ever Popeyes branch in the UK, and it officially opened on Saturday 20th November 2021. I didn't expect the queue to be as long as it was, midweek, but once I'd joined it, I was determined to get to the end. I tried the famous Popeyes Chicken Sandwich for the first time, as well as some of my old favourites such as the Hot Wings and Regular Chicken. Was it worth a 2 hour queue?! You decide!

@@Sam4G0d I work at Primark in that Westfield. I not my colleagues have had Popeye's yet because we can't wait 2 Hours during lunch break. Once the terrible queues go down we will have from there. Thanks for the vlog though.
I’m from the US, and I think they did you dirty on that sandwich. My guess is that supply is currently short due to just opening. The quality will prob get better as the hype goes down.
I'll have to go back and try it again in a few months time! Really wanted to love it! x
@@Sam4G0d Also, the spicy version of the sandwich is so much better . Is the menu in Dubai more extensive? Do they have the seafood items and the red beans?
Also I would not let the sandwich sit the bag too long after you get it. Eat it right away or open the bag before it gets soggy. Btw, I’ve always like butter and honey on the biscuits
I notice most people are getting the wrong chicken sandwich. The Spicy Chicken Sandwich is the one that everyone raved about and it comes on a brioche bun and it has the spicy sauce that contributes to the flavoring. The pickle also adds to the flavor profile of the sandwich. I'm also noticing that the biscuit and the mashed potatoes look completely different from what you get here in America.
I'll have to try the spicy one next time! :)
The thought of a vegan sandwich from Popeyes makes me want to throw up. You go there for chicken, not vegan food
The fact that Popeyes is just down my block is amazing. NYC has everything everything . The only time Popeyes started trending when they promoted the chicken sandwich and we lost our damn minds for months when they sold out . Now it’s back to normal
Firstly, a biscuit (without your air quotes) lol is not... I repeat not like a scon/scone I have had scones and I much prefer my American counterpart. Secondly you got the Classic Chicken Sandwich all the rage was over the Spicy Chicken Sandwich. They taste different. The spicy is way better to me. Also you are right I would never wait 2 hours in lie(queue) for some fast food, ever! Enjoyed the video..it was great 😃👍

Two Popeye restaurants was open in Toulouse 2 years ago and they are closed so quickly 😑, I heard some quality problems and to slow to serve.

Idk why but the chicken sandwiches in the US are LOADED with sauce. I think Popeyes did some research on the UK market and decided to put less sauce? After all, we fat AF here in the US.
Haha! I mean, maybe? I'd be interested to go back in a few months and try it again. It may have just been a badly made sandwich cuz they were so busy. I do enjoy my sauce!
Lovely! We don't have Popeyes in Cape Town, but my daughter and I ate it nearly every day when we were on holiday in Singapore And Malaysia... chcken tenders with the honey "biscuit "(what we call scones). Its truly addictive.
i forgot to mention, the biscuits in Singapore and Malaysia is soaked in butter and honey... Amazing the sweet and salty scone with the chicken, yummm
When I was in Australia we went for vacation in Bali. When we saw Church’s fried chicken we had to eat there! Who knew American fast food chicken would be in Indonesia but not Australia?
That sandwich does not look right. I have seen other Brits get it and it looked bettter, so I hope this is due to a supply chain issue.
Mac and cheese is a new side for us in the US. Man, I wish y'all got the sides we have. Popeyes has good sides in the US.

The sandwich is ice cold by the time you got it...when it's hot the chicken sandwich is awesome. Next time eat the chicken sandwich 1st. Also why do Brits call all sandwiches ' burgers'? Do you call deli sandwiches: subs.hoagies and fish sandwiches burgers?? What about Gyros or burritos? How about grill cheese sandwiches? Are the grill cheese burgers? Great content!!
I saw some garlic mayo in your bag so why not put it on the sandwich? Biscuits are eaten with Butter. Break it open and put some butter or honey on it. Here we also put some gravy on it and eat it with a fork Sounds like you were expecting something else. Popeye's here in Arizona have a good sandwich but thats about it for me. My favorite here is Churches Chicken. So moist and crispy. Churches also has yummy fried Okra. Ummm!
If your food, like popeyes needs a sauce then it is just not spiced right. That goes for many american foods, but also some people want to add things, do as you like!
Glad you enjoyed the chicken, but I don't know that I would have lasted two hours in that line. My hat's off to you for sticking it out. When I got a look at the menu board in your video, I could see that the sides on offer don't include the dirty rice or the rice and beans. I wonder why they don't offer rice in London? Also, a biscuit is not a scone. Different texture. Different taste (biscuits are not sweet). We put biscuits in the bread category more than anything else.
People do wait in line for hours in the US for fast food when they first open.

I love Popeyes. It's better than any fast food. In Louisiana, at least near NOLA, I don't even think we even considered it fast food for a while... but I would not stay in line that long lol. Though, I guess because I grew up on it, the novelty isn't there. I have waited atound 2 hrs for a popular seafood restaurant right outside New Orleans though.
You should have order the spicey chicken sandwich. The mayo on the sandwich is a everyday thing.
I’ve never waited that long for food, but I’ve worked places where people have been waiting for hours due to broken ordering systems and severe understaffing/mismanagement.

Welcome to the world of fast food cousins from acorss the pond. Everything will clear up eventually. Some places in america still dont have popeyes. Our country is so big that some fast food joints are regional rather than being widespread like Micky D's Burger King or Wendy's. Just give it like a month and everything will smooth out.

Omg I find it Hilarious people in Europe will want so long for fast food. Over here in the US I would never do that. I'm a great cook and can make Chicken So much Better! I understand the situation that is closest thing to fried chicken you can get over there. Kudos to you! 🙌🏾🙏🏽💜
Haha yeah, I think there's a severe lack of GOOD fast food places in the UK - particularly when it comes to fried chicken, so people get excited! I defo did not expect this level of dedication and queues on a Tuesday afternoon! x

Sucks UK doesn't have blackened ranch of red beans and rice. I HATE red beans,, but I could eat Popeyes' beans.
It can't be that serious a 'pandemic' if you're queuing in a line for hours for fast food. Take your mask off and chill
The pandemic doesn't mean we need to stop living... Especially close to 2 years later. But we can all try to be careful and respectful still, and wearing a mask is one of the ways we can do that ;)
@@Sam4G0d in an actual pandemic people wouldn't dare to go outside, people wouldn't need to be coerced into taking a vaccine (which the very definition of the word has now been severely distorted) and massive major sporting events wouldn't even be going ahead.
The very notion of propaganda and wide spread language change within a majority of the populace shows to me this is less about a wider public health issue and more about implementing CBDC social credit central cryptocurrency.
Take a look at gov't latest policies, all centred around social behavioural change and control of people's spending and social punishments (limiting travel for recreational drug users, restricting what foods the overweight can purchase).

The spicy chicken sando is totally legit _but_ The real Popeyes order should be: spicy chicken with sauces, red beans and rice, biscuits with honey packets and, sweet tea.
No mobile ordering? I had Popeyes across the pond years ago and it was delicious! And then again before The Blip. Their Cajun (Kay-jin) rice was delicious and is no longer on the menu. And their scones (scone rhymes with bone) are not as good as I remembered them. Save money and don't order the meal if not getting a drink! Order the items instead. Their chicken sandwich competes with Chick-fil-A in the US BTW, the water from the fizzy drink dispenser is filtered!
When they opened back in the late 80s in LA the lines were long at least a hour wait and the drive through was crazy it was the biscuits and chicken it still crowded but not like it was. I wonder what would happen if NnOut burger came there.
Damn here the the usa especially where I at there is alot of Popeyes so having quick easy access even very late is no problem, hopefully things will simmer down
Glad you love Popeyes they are one of my favorites besides Church's Chicken and Bojangles chicken. But a scone here in America is totally different than the biscuits you were eating. The best scones I have tasted are at Publix grocery store or Panera bread.
Not sure about america but KFC zinger burger is better than Popeyes burger in the UK

@@Sam4G0d never save a chicken sandwich (burger ) for last. a light bun, and the sauce fade quickly. a biscuit here is eaten with breakfast (primarily in the southern states). closest uk equivalent is fried bread. a scone is more of a dessert.

Biscuits don’t come with gravy at the US Popeyes.
yeah....here in the states, the gravy is usually only served on the mashed potatoes (which, imo, is not the best side dish). Likewise, the mac and cheese is only o.k.
The biscuits are NOT scones - do not confuse the two ! The biscuits are much better with honey or strawberry jam. I like the red beans and rice as the best side.
When ordering the tenders or nuggets - ask for a couple packs of Cajun Sparkle, sprinkle the spice into the bag of tenders and gently shake. I used to always get
the barbecue sauce for dipping - but the Mardi Gras Mustard is the way to go ! My closest Popeyes is about 35 miles away - so I don't go very often.......

I've never heard of Popeye's but tbh would not wait 2 hours for a "Fast food" meal. Surely they are going to loose customers, if the wait times are so long. Anyway, glad u eventually got your food and enjoyed it. x

Nah its gonna get better eventually when people learn the menu and can order faster. If we got a nandos it wouldnt make a dent in us culture but still the line would be long for the first couple weeks.

There are about 10 Popeyes locations in my city of 300,000. They all stay jam-packed, all day, everyday. The spicy fried chicken and, red beans and rice will change your life. It's easier to order on the app then just go pick it up.
