Magnificently filmed once again. Looks like quite a ride. Happy New Years to you Robb. Thank you to TPR and yourself for all of the fantastic videos that you shared in 2013. I really appreciated all of them~ Rob/Boston
Thank you form all these videos . I have literally watched every video on your channel. I'm going to porta Ventura next year so I keep watching the dragon khan and the furious baco. Your voiceovers are hilarious too. I rather them. Good luck with your next video!
The section right before the chain lift and the chain lift itself were used from the previous ride that was there, Buzzsaw Falls. Buzzsaw Falls used to be a combination water/roller coaster where the cars served as boats as well. The chain lift served as a final drop into a big pool of water at the end. They didn't put the drop or chain lift in to make it back to the station. When you watch the video and/or ride Powderkeg you can see old sections of Buzzsaw Falls.
I been on this ride before with my best friends"s brother. I loved it! (I was in Branson because I was in one of the championship clogger groups that goes in the summer)
I like powder keg! But I wish they would of kept buzz saw falls never did get to ride it but from what I could see it looked really fun! Why did the get rid of it!
Great video! The ending of this ride makes no sense to me though. They take away the momentum with breaks, add a lift hill, and only add a helix? Weird. Does anyone have a clue why they did this?
It has to do with the previous ride that was there, Buzzsaw Falls, which was a water coaster. At 1:27, you'll notice that the track style changes. This is because that is actually the original track from Buzzsaw Falls. Same goes for the lift hill, so they didn't really have to add anything except for some new paint. But as for the pathetic ending, not so sure on that one.
Zach Jordan My guess is they wanted it to not just end with a lifthill. Also, with the way the lift is angled you end up quite far from the station. I think it was made that way to make the mini-return actually exciting, as opposed to just a few mini-hills. The ending looks wimpy, but it actually does pack quite a punch that matches the intensity of the rest of the ride.
@@Shadowpizzacat lol omg i forgot i commented this. no it’s not that bad, probably, i was like. 7 years old and hated anything fast. i’m sure i’d feel different now that i’m like. older
@@jessicahylton1407 oh thanks for responding, I didn’t think you would lol Im thinking about doing it because I liked thunderation but I really don’t like big drops so I’m kinda nervous
The lift at the end is actually from the old ride that used to be in this same place. Powder Keg replaced a "water coaster" that was a maintenance nightmare for the park. So that final portion of the ride was left over and they just connected the new part to it. It's kind of pointless, but it adds a bit to the ride. Considering the ride is geared towards younger riders (42" height restriction), they seem to like it.
They did it that way because the loading dock was the same one from the old Buzzsaw Falls. The new PowderKeg started where you used to splash down in the big pool. Since they wanted to use the existing station, they had to come up with a way to transfer the train up to the new launch position. Definitely a unique feature.
I think the lift is mainly there to get it back to the station. If you ever ride this coaster you'll probably forgive this oddly placed lift as the ride is still worth riding

A transfer, a launcher, and chain? Oh my.
even with all that it still doesn't look interesting
@@sharkheadism it was 7 years later to me
@@jakematic1618 nice
The lift is there because it is from the old Ripsaws Fall water coaster that was renovated into Powder Keg.
I think this was the biggest surprise of my 2013 season. I really did not expect to love this ride as much as I did. Tons of fun!
This ride is freaking awesome at night, because you don't know where you are going!
Especially Time Traveler
Big fan of your account!!! Love all of your videos! Not that you would ever meet me, but my dad works at Silver Dollar City in Branson MO.
sweet ride. nicely shot. thank you
This will always be my favorite roller coaster! Some people take this design to seriously, but with the drops it has, you get serious tingles!
Love Silver Dollar City! Will you also be posting a "Wildfire" POV?
You may have seen it by now, but GOOD NEWS, they got that video up a few days after your comment. :)
Yep, saw it when it went up. Awesome!
I think this coaster would've been better if they ditched the lift hill and just went with a second launch.
the lift used to be from a water coaster so they just reused it :)
Pbub1 buzzsaw falls
It was a good way to save money when they built this ride. Plus the two track styles fit perfectly
This coaster is a lot of fun! I remember being pretty blown away by it in March, packed more kick than I thought it would in that launch, lol

Why don't I hear your voice Robb??!!! :(
We actually shot this footage for the park, so I had to be silent. :P
Hands Down Best Launch on Any Coaster I've Ridden!
Speed Starla Engine Roar 1:01
Speed Powder Keg S&S Roller Coaster 1:02
Speed Starla Powder Keg S&S Roller Coaster 1:03
I went there that ride is sooo much fun when it launches
Cool ride!
Looks like a fun ride but some kind of inversion would be nice to see after the lift hill rather than a helix
That and outlaw run are two great rides
I love Silver Dollar City!
I'm going to ride that so nervous
I like powder keg! But I wish they would of kept buzz saw falls never did get to ride it but from what I could see it looked really fun! Why did the get rid of it!
Which theme park is this located at? The quality is killer btw! Thanks for the update :)
This is at silver dollar city
Cried while riding it. Time to relive that fear.
I went on this ride 5 times in a row
This reminded me of the don of beast in the sense that it stays closer to the ground than most normal coasters
Cool ride
2:05 - 2:17 bit of a waste...
@Natasha McHattan I know. But still they could've done more with the layout though.
I do never want to go on that!!
Reasons
1. VIP people cut in line
2.its scary
There's no VIP special ticket program at Silver Dollar City. (Just so you know)
pqrunner2000 there is the Trailblazer program kinda like Fastpass
silver dollar city gotta love the ozark theme park

ive been on that ride it is COOL
I know this ride is criticized for nit being exciting and all that jazz. But I think it's one of the best steel coasters my opinion though
Wow what a great launch how fast is the launch??
The train is launched to 55 MPH on the launch, but the train reaches 65 mph on the bottom of the first airtime hill, where it turns to the right.
oh tks :P
Rita on a bigger scale?
Looks fun
This looks wack what's the point of the lift hill at the end of the ride only to do a sharp turn back n to the station?
What camera do you use
How has this Changed?
i think its weak to have that lift hill at the end just to make it helix back into a brake section. Should have just kept it going.
How is it so fast at the start
I love sdc
What?! There's a chain lift hill and a launch!
I went on this ride. Since I was young, I hated it.
Is it that bad???

How fast does it go?
Hmm, not bad. Actually looks like fun! :)
I rode this rode 6 times today
thts def one of the weirdest combinations iv seen.. a launch n a second chain lift hill. interesting
This is a great Branson ride.
Second does kill the ride a little. Looks like there is enough speed to make it back to the station.
I'm going there this Saturday and I am so nervous...😕😯😨
Was it bad???
@@Shadowpizzacat lmfao, it was 6 years ago, but no! not at all, definitely worth it :)

Everytime I rode this, on the last turn, it would destroy my elbow, but it was worth it.
What type of track is this?
+Thomas Tilleros thank you!
1:00 0-60 is as fast as a 2016 _Lamborghini Aventador._
The lift at the end... why?O_o

Ohh, thanks!!!:)
It's 65 mph I believe
53 actually
Been there, done that. Now for wildfire
But the launch is 53
Thought it was bizzare that at the begining the whole track slide over to another posistion.

such an lifthill for this short ending? weird
What the... Why is there a lift? I was watching this and thought to myself... "This coaster looks intense." Then there was a lift for no reason?
I think the lift is mainly there to get it back to the station. If you ever ride this coaster you'll probably forgive this oddly placed lift as the ride is still worth riding
This is what my cousin rode... I was too scared to go on xD
I almost passed out on the ride
I DID pass out on the ride.
Is it really bad??? I’m thinking of going on it
this wasent made to long ago outlaw runs there
I regret listening to my sister to ride this last year
Was it that bad???
I went there today I live there
I work there
What an under designed ride. Weird. And the chain lift? What for?
I'm always to afraid to ride this if one of my. Friends came with me I would ride it but I always end up going alone
the second half kinda sucked :/ the start was pretty sick though
