    The sticking of buds together during curing is because you have crazy sticky icky. I do full plant hang dry for 14 days at 60/60 then I jar cured after for 2-4 weeks before I smoke and even after 4 weeks of curing and the hygrometers say 50-55% and the buds still stick like they're fresh. So just because your buds stick together doesn't mean it's too much moisture it could be because of prolific truchomes and Hugh levels of resin

    The harvesting process in Colorado is so much different than the E coast. I was growing on a commercial scale in Col, so they would dry too quick. In NY, I had back to back great harvests, but my terps really suffered. Like you said, if the cannabis is sticking together, let em dry another 24. Yes 7 day min. I've never used silica packs, hydrometer, only a dehumidifier in NY for craft type grows.

    There’s so much more to the whole process than 60-60 for two weeks. Sometimes it’s like 7-10 days. Finding out when you jar was the hardest part for me. It’s all about feel. The stem snap doesn’t always happen for me also.. thank you elaborating in detail this oh so critical part of the process!!! OneLove P! -NPK👊🏼😎

    Good tip for anyone using those cheap mini hygrometers. Do not make the critical mistake of thinking they are 100% accurate. Test them with the salt/75% calibration test. Mine were all exactly 6% too high. E.g. true 75% actually shows as 81% and 60% on the hygrometer (you would think is perfect) is actually 54% and now over dried.

Glass jars made for coffee but work great for our favorite plant. they have digital read outs for temperature and humidity and a built in vacuum pump to seal the jar and the best part and internal sensor keeping track of pressure within so when waste gas is extruded inside the pump kicks on meaning auto burping and less work for me, but my needs are small

    @Scott-ox9iw 2 роки тому

    hey pigeons! couple quick questions - how long is a 'burp'? Is it like taking a sip off a water bottle and putting the cap back on? or do you leave the lid off the mason jar for like a minute, 5min, 10min? Also, once your herb feels mostly cured and doesnt need daily burping anymore, do you need to burp again when your storage room humidity creeps up into the high 70s RH? Im dealing with this problem right now! Thanks man

    • @Pigeons420
      @Pigeons420  2 роки тому

      I remove the lid typically for about 45 min to an hour.. Or until the buds have got that crunchy feeling again and arent damp. It varies depending on how damp they are but no less than 45 min for me

    • @Scott-ox9iw
      @Scott-ox9iw 2 роки тому

      @@Pigeons420 The buds are already slightly crunchy (but not too crunchy/dry) when i jar them. So I want to burp out the bad gases until the buds start smelling sweet. Just trying to wrap my head around how long of a burp it takes to let the gases exchange. 45min might be right but that seems kinda long, i'll forget to put the lid back on for sure unless i set an alarm. Im guessing the first couple weeks after jarring are the most critical, thats when you can tell the flavor is still developing.
      actually 45min isnt that long, but this is probably highly debatable. Take a look at all the cure vids, everybody says give it a burp but nobody really specifies to amount of time the burp takes at this stage of the cure. My typical burps are about 5min after I tumble the jar to separate any buds that are sticking. But did I give the gas enough time to seep out, idk.
