The Keys To Steven Schumacher's Plymouth Promotion Push

- In this video I examine the key reasons behind Plymouth Argyle's push for promotion from League One and into the Championship under the guidance of their young, forward-thinking manager, Steven Schumacher.
Last week, I covered the fantastic form of Ipswich Town under Kieran McKenna and had plenty of Argyle fans get in touch with me, asking for a spotlight to be shone on the superb work that's been done by everyone at Home Park over the last 12 months and I was more than happy to oblige.
Hopefully you enjoy this video; if you do, please do consider "liking" it, leaving a comment and subscribing to the channel as each subscriber makes a massive difference.

I've lived in Plymouth for about four years now and have a few friends who support them and are delighted to see them doing so well. Their football team is giving people in the city even those that don't follow football that closely so much reason to be proud, everyone was buzzing about going to Wembley even though they lost and getting back in the Championship will be so massive for them
As a lifelong Argyle fan...50 years +, great to watch this well researched piece.
This really is superb. It’s clear you’ve researched extensively before posting this video. Thanks for giving us the credit we deserve. Now to get over the line
I posted it on one of the Argo sites; hope many people see it ; great Video 👍👍
From an Argyle fan who loves to watch football from an unbiased viewpoint: this was really lovely to watch. Thank you for giving our club a spotlight. I love Argyle but I also love seeing local clubs do well. I love seeing smaller clubs thrive because you actively start to see a positive change in your local area when they do. Whenever I go back to Plymouth to see family, the city just seems more positive this year because of the performance of Argyle. Would love to see you dive into some clubs around the world - not the big leagues but your slightly smaller ones. Fan passion is Sweden and Denmark is amazing. Hammarby being one of my personal favourites.
I must say this is one of the best guys I've listened to in a long time. This guy so Meticulous with his research really does his homework. Being an Argyle fan in Ipswich he really has nailed it for both clubs in his videos . A must watch for any football fan 👌
I didn’t think I’d enjoy watching videos about teams I have no interest in but you make it all so interesting, and I love how much research you put in so that you get it right. Brilliant work.
That was excellent, thank you for going so far beyond paying lip service to what is after all a bit of a footballing outpost. You've hit the nail on the head regarding the idea of the collective at Argyle. This is the first year for a long time that we don't have an obvious player of the season, such have been the contributions from across the squad.
You have done your homework, I'm impressed!
The owners, the management, the coaches, the players, the fans and the people of the Westcountry, we're all singing from the same hymn sheet!
Come on Argyle!
Brilliant video.
When we sing ‘Argyle are massive’, you explained exactly what we mean.
Something special is happening here right now.
Great job mate.
Hit the nail on the end - fantastic video. This club is going somewhere, you can feel it in Home Park, something special is happening.
As an Ipswich fan, I think Schumacker fully deserves the manager of the season award because of his resilience, consistency throughout the season and ability to cope well with such an tight budget especially compared to ours. We’ll see you in the championship!
Thanks for the well researched words you have given while discussing our loved club. Argyle has been in my blood, being born a Janner, growing up with a father who was a dedicated supporter of the Greens, which rubbed off on me from a very early age. To see and be involved in the club's highs and lows through the decades, and now for the club to be in the position we are in just goes to show not only the dedication from the structure inside the club, but the heartfelt support that the Green Army have given through those said highs and lows. Home Park has grown and grown. We all pay our respects for the hard work by all that has got us to this. May the club continue to be successful and may the Green Army sing loud, for we are Argyle till we die. COYG's
Brilliant watch and covered everything many thanks. 👏👏👏💚💚💚
I have watched both your Ipswich and Argyle analyses. They are excellent. Well done and kept it up for other clubs.
Great Video thank you …we Argyle fans have been a bit fed up of Ipswich and SW fans keep saying about little Plymouth won’t stay at the top ..but Plymouth and Ipswich going up would be a great end to the season ..there has been far more arrogance by many SW fans
Good luck in your ventures !!
Recruitment from Summer 22 - January 23 has been outstanding. That player quality and extra squad depth has been the difference compared to last season.
Thanks for the spotlight 👍🏻👏🏻👏🏻👏🏻🇳🇬🇳🇬🇳🇬🇳🇬🇳🇬
Excellent video, you nailed it. If I was to add something, it's worth highlighting the important role of our loan players (Whittaker before he left, Mumba from Norwich) - relating to how sensible we were in not splashing the cash - and how they blended well with the 'one of our owns' in Michael Cooper (keeper) and Adam Randell. But I thought you covered most of the key points and will look out for more of your videos.
Fantastic mate. Nice to see how mich research you have done into Argyle. Hopefully this will open the eyes of fans from other clubs as to what is happening both on and off the pitch at Argyle. Nice fo have the spotlight on us for a change
Well researched, and a glowing reference to Plymouth Argyle. It’s about time we as a club, got some credit of what we have achieved as a club this season!!. Great UA-cam video. 👍💚👏👏
Haven't achieved anything at all yet.
I am so proud of my club, we've been through some bad times but we are on our way 💚
Excellent video, Argyle fan but really seems to have done his research. Excellent work and thanks for that!
Very well researched article!
Kudos - that was a great, well researched piece!
Love the time and detail you put into these videos Dan. Great stuff.
Thank you mate, the last thing I ever want is for a fan of a club I cover to feel as though I haven’t done them justice.
@@HLTCOMEDIAthis was fantastic, never get to see anyone cover argyle as football media is so focused on the Orem, understandably. Thanks for this :)
I'm Irish and have never been anywhere near Plymouth. But I love Argyle. Always have. The doctors are baffled. And this is a good video.
Emerald Greens
@@steviebgooder Maybe, but I don't like Celtic.
@@michaeligoe3935. Who are they? 😃👍
As some of my family now live in Plymouth, they've kind of become my second team. They've yoyoed quite a bit over the years but let's hope they can get some sustained success and maybe in time ditch that 'biggest city never to have top-flight football' tag.
Something else which is worth a mention is the sheer dedication of their away fans. They have to get up at stupid o'clock to get to many games, especially those living even further out in Cornwall
Absolutely bricking it for tomorrow 😭😭😭😭 such a huge day ahead
COME ON YOU BOYS IN GREEN!!!!!! Let’s get back to where we belong after 13 years of hurt! #COYG 💚🇳🇬💚
A lovely video to watch in the backround, you have summed up our club wonderfully. Everyone at the club is pulling in the same direction of that there is no doubt. I only have one concern as an Argyle supporter, Our over reliance on loanee's and the sad fact that our Loanee's do so well its a shame to see them go. Mumba's/Whittiker's stock is will be so high that were just outpriced into bringing them back. i belive we have just commited over 30m in a tranformation of our academy. Do we have the means to bring back players like mumba and whittiker!! time will tell but in Simon and Steven we trust COYG!
Thank you so much for this video. You have obviously taken your time to research us and your presentation of the facts is actually very refreshing. Well done 👏🏻. Subscribed and liked 👍🏻
Great video, a good perspective from outside of the Argyle and pretty comprehensive. One other thing that helps Argyle is the away support, you can always guarantee over a thousand whether it is 'local' (!) like Bristol or far away like Lincoln, passionate and noisy!
Superb production. THIS is why I enjoy UA-cam.
Proper vid this is, top research done, and actually understands what being a fan of this club is all about. Not sure about the Ipswich hate though, more like banter from what I’ve seen! Hoping for Paul Mariner that it’s us and Ipswich that go up.
No hate we’re glad it’s you
What a sensible explanation of the Argyle collective. The players all play for each other and Shuey encourages the best in them
Great article and recognises a lot of what Argyle are doing right. I developed an index this season to measure a clubs present “size” Argyle score 7 points compared to Ipswich on 19 and Wednesday on 20. (Interestingly Charlton also score 7 points, so much for them being a “big” club😅).
I’ve seen a lot of friendly talk between both Ipswich and Plymouth fans
Brilliant summary. You really get it.COYG UTBA AGAW ATID 💚💚
I think the animosity from Plymouth fans to Ipswich fans (not all) is their arrogant attitude that they should be considered better than others based only on their past success but in reality all that matters is the present & at the moment we are ahead of them.
Thanks for a great, well researched video about our club. Much appreciated. 💚
Great video, great content (obvs), we have all the elements needed right now to be a successful club, so will enjoy it while it lasts, let’s hope we can consolidate in our first season back in the championship, and then go from there…….coyg
I was made aware of this video and as an Argyle fan was interested to see it. I am very impressed with the research and observations that were picked up and included in the video. It is well balanced, independent and takes the facts and figures as they are without bias. It is a great story about how a football club and its community can be integrated alongside success on the pitch which is often the only bit that gets written about. As a fan, I am amused at the tribalism being demonstrated by our rival fans who think that we aren’t good or important enough to obtain promotion instead of them. With only two games to go, let’s just see what the outcome may be. Thank you for doing the video - I am sure that ‘we’ (the fans) probably have a Crystal Palace shirt hanging in the Green Taverners Suite donated when we were in dire need of support in 2011. You might check out the GTs as well and I might suggest a visit down for a home game at Home Park to see for yourself although it’s a long way down. I know because I live in Wimbledon.
Top research. You know your stuff.
Great video! Really enjoyed it!
Great video, you really have done your homework on Argyle
+1 subscriber after this brilliant video!
I view Argyle through green tinted specs, but this review from a 'neutral',is spot on. Well presented , researched and analysed, thanks 👍.
Great video !
Great upload thanks
Top Man, Great Video. Come on You Greens!
Think the water into wine reference spot on. If a neutral were to select a combined 11 from Argyle and Ipswich squads then suspect there would probably only be 2 (maybe 3) from the Greens.
Mind you will be happy to see us and Ipswich go up together - has always been connection between clubs since Mariner move.
Who would be the two/three? The only obvious one imo is Cooper. Which makes it even more impressive. Hopefully we both get over the line tomorrow.
@@joephillips2248 For me Cooper and Mumba are the obvious ones. I guess I don't know enough about the Ipswich centre backs to know if Scarr would be a candidate.
Excellent analysis, you certainly did your homework and seem to understand everything about why the green army are so excited to be where we deservedly are...top of the league! The other clubs in LG1 that have had their moments in history hate the fact that we are now showing them up....claiming that they 'deserve' to be playing at a higher level. Well guess what...you are where you 'deserve' to be, and we are where we 'deserve' to be. History has gone, its the here and now that matters. Not quite over the line yet, but it would be a brave man/woman to bet against it now. COYG!!
Class video this very good detail shows that you have researched very well utba 💚
Brilliant vid this
I think al in all both sets of fans are ok with each other. I think we will both go up so theres no problems with Ipswich fans as far as im concerned.
Fair play to Plymouth, limited budget and getting the best from the players. Ipswich have not really spent big, as they sold players and had clauses when previous players left. Good luck going forward.
Still massive amount on wages. A higher wage bill than when we were top 6 in the championship. What they have done is phenomenal credit to Schuey and the recruitment team. A big rebuild in the Summer in comparison to Ipswich but fancy them to do well in the Championship. Both have to get over the line tomorrow first.
Would have liked you to have delved into the contrast in financial expenditures. Otherwise good video.
If we get promoted we need to sign some players as the last few seasons we've had a lot of loans
Always has been Argyles biggest dis-advantage their location, would love nothing more than to see Schuey take Argyle into the Premiership where they belong
I think having one of the bigger budgets in league 1 and one of the biggest grounds is why it’s Plymouth and not Accrington Stanley. Let’s be real.
Plymouth are around mid table when it comes to the budget they have, they are nowhere near one of the biggest budgets in the division
They 100% dominate the ball that’s the philosophy 😅
Prediction
They will lose the title to ipswich on the last game of the season
Port vale are a good side now
Very good video. Balanced and informed. PAFC the team for me are huge. Huge in terms of untouched geographic fam base and huge in terms of passion. If we do go up maybe our clearly exposed squad utilisation and in game management maybe more easily read and rest with. I love this video you’re very knowledgeable and your video is captivating so well done brother.
Look at the congested fan base around say sheff? We don’t have that! And for clarity 0 animosity with the tractor boys or the owls or derby or Barnsley. L1 has been utterly epic this year and an utter credit to association football that all involved from the directors to the bleddy pasty sellers should be proud of. UTBA and up the bastard football.
You have clearly researched our fantastic well run football club. The one thing that i would like to say is the club has not made an end of season loss in revenue for over 3 years. It just goes to show that by building the squad in the right areas, teamwork, a great bond and a manager that is obsessed with football then good things happen. With Simon Hallett funding and passion is amazing and his business brain is undeniable brilliant. We are now going to the Championship with very high hopes. Thank you for covering our passionate club. COYG 💚🤍💚🤍💚🤍💚🤍
