- Actors Tom Welling, Laura Vandervoort, and John Glover gave a panel at Steel City Con August 2023 to talk about their acting, experiences, and to answer fan questions.
Tom Welling played Clark Kent / Kal-El (and kind of Superman) in Smallville, but has also appeared in Lucifer, Cheaper by the Dozen, Draft Day, The Fog, and The Professionals. He also reprised his role in the CW crossover event Crisis on Infinite Earths.
Laura Vandervoort was Kara Zor-El / Supergirl in Smallville but has also had roles in Jigsaw, V, Bitten, V-Wars, Ice, Supergirl, Con Man, and White Collar.
John Glover played Lionel Luthor, father of Lex, on Smallville, but he is also known for his roles in Shazam, Scrooged, Batman & Robin, Brimstone, The Good Wife, Evil, Fear the Walking Dead, and as the voice of the Riddler in Batman: The Animated Series.

She was great in the role, but I think you could say that about the Smallville cast in general.

Glover is doing really well for being almost 80. Also, Laura is nearly 40 and looks absolutely incredible for her age. She could play 26-28. 💯
When the Pilot aired on the WB, I was almost 21 and going through a transition in my life. That's why I was able to relate so well to Clark's journey on Smallville. Welling really captured self-discovery well.

Just watched the "Reacher" series starring "Smallville's" Aquaman, 'Alan Ritchson' and to my surprise > Kristen Kreuk. Great series.

Great panel! The Smallville actors are like family. They obviously worked well together and still have great chemistry. Laura seemed more relaxed and funnier than usual. John and Tom were their usual hilarious selves. Please we need a follow up Smallville!!!

Absolutely love these guys. Especially Laura and Tom. Would have loved to have been at this one. As it was in my home state of Pennsylvania. Would have loved to have finally been able to give Laura a huge hug. 😀❤❤❤🙏
I would absolutely love to have Laura on the Smallville Nights. She would be an absolute awesome addition. When I saw Tom at the Fan Expo Philadelphia convention along with Kristin and Michael that was also something I would have loved to have done. But, didn't get the chance to.😀

John Glover played Satan himself on a show called "Brimstone" back in 1998 or 99. It only ran for one season but I loved that show. He was so good with Peter Horton(Ezekiel Stone, guy was awesome too) that he was bumped up to series regular from guest star.
Laura Vandervoort hasn't aged a day in 20 years. Absolutely beautiful. Trains in martial arts too if im not mistaken.
Tom tells great stories and gives excellent advice. I'm glad he's doimg Talk Ville with Michael Rosenbaum, and that they've remained good friends over the years.
Bought the whole show on DVD long ago.
Re-bought not long ago and now I own the whole show on Blu-Ray and glad of it!!!!!

Thank you for posting the Smallville panel! This was a great and fun panel. It was refreshing to hear differents questions being asked and not just the usual questions cause we got to hear the cast talk about differents things. Love Tom's chemistry read story with Kristin, she truly helped him getting the role. Can y'all imagine if Jensen was the one who played Clark, feel so weird 😂
If Jensen had been Clark, then we wouldn't have had the iconic Dean Winchester we got. So I'm glad he didn't get the part. Plus, Tom was perfect as Clark! Things happened as they should've.
Tom had to be exhausted from this series, he spent 10 years of his own life to make us happy to see Clark on screen
Guy was 21 when he started and made loads of money with health insurance. I say it was worth every yawn
24* but yeah, he had a good life compared to the average person.

I don't blame him for thinking I lost this job offer seeing Jenson Ackles.
I heard they had Supernatural already planned but, was hoping through Smallville tryouts for parts of finding their people for the show and they may have saw there Dean right then and there and knew we can't use him as the main star of Smallville.
Later on, small re-occurring role in Smallville and then right into Supernatural, Jensen went lock stock = 15 years baby!!!!
I also, own all 15 seasons of Supernatural on Blu-Ray. Bought not long ago as well.

Listening to Tom's story at 13:50, it really strikes me kind of funny how everyone's first impression of Jensen Ackles is how handsome he is. You'd think his looks wouldn't stand out so much in Hollywood but I guess there's handsome and Jensen Ackles-handsome 😂

John is just better at this socializing-with-strangers stuff, I wouldn't say that means one's nicer than the other
In my opinion Clark does not react to the kriptonite until he sees it because it is a mental thing. For some it's more painful to see yourself getting injected with a needle than to just get injected. I've gotten cuts before and not know it until something touches it making it burn. That's why Clark is able to fight through Kriptonite at times as he grow because he trains his mind to fight through what causes him pain.

There are forms of radiation that can be blocked with a piece of paper. It all depends on the wavelength.
how can they do these cons with the strike?
According to the guidelines, they can do cons. They can't talk about current or future projects. Some have taken that to include past projects, but some will discuss them anyway.
Personally I find smallville actors outstanding and the visual effects were effective, i love the vivid colors and the American dream aspect, I hated two things 1) I hated the villain's, they where unbelievable. 2) the manipulations of the lana, lex, tess, lionel where pathetic.

Guidelines are super vague, and it is up to the actors to decide how to interpret them. Talking about a show that ended quite a long time ago... might be fine.

Seeing her physique here made me think Laura would’ve been amazing as a female terminator - the script for the movie with Kristanna Loken was pretty terrible, but I think Laura in the role in a future film could take on a T-1000 sinister vibe for sure.
The one time Kristin ain't with them then it gets recorded unlike Montreal ugh lol
Well, Montreal is out of our con area, and if it's Fan Expo, we couldn't record it anyway.
I comfort myself with the fact that Tom talked so much about her in that panel that it was as if she were there with them... 😂😂

No worries. We work with many cons who allow recordings. Those who don't either have control issues or the agents don't understand how these videos help their clients.
@@FandomSpotlite Yeah, I'll never understand those particular rules, unless of course the guest/s specifically request for their panel to not be recorded. Which I think is pretty rare. I just think it's unfair if someone can't make it to a comic con and yet would have loved especially to see a particular guest's panel, watching them on youtube is the next best thing...

LOVE THIS SHOW..... IT IS MY FAVORITE! I've been a Superman fan since I was a child. That being said, Laura..... I'M SO GLAD KELLY CLARKSON WAS NOT IN THE SHOW! She's a tool! I also have to say I'm sooooo glad this show was done before all the woke BS started ruining everything! Please don't do any other project until hollyweird learns..... PEOPLE HATE ALL THEIR WOKE BS! I was so very grateful Smallville was done before all that woke cancerous nonsense metastasized! Knowing hollyweird, they will try making a love interest between Clark and Lex with Lex actually believing he's really a woman..... It won't be Martha and Johnathan it will be Martha and Janelle, Lana will believe she's really a roadrunner trapped in human form that prefers the description "very fast bird", and Smallville Kansas will somehow look as though its been TRANSformed into a gay version of Harlem! No offense to black people (and I mean that wholeheartedly), but to hollyweird these days..... Smallville Kansas just wouldn't be "diverse" enough!
Then in the end, Super- MAN will obviously be too "toxic" so they will instead say; "LOOK UP IN THE SKY! ITS A BIRD, ITS A PLANE, NO..... ITS SUPER-THEY/THEM!" (SMH)!

I doubt that cons will invite Allison Mack, cons are suppose to be a safe place after the horrible things she did she has a lot of work to do to prove that she isn't dangerous anymore. I also doubt that the cast would be comfortable doing cons with her especially Laura, Kristin and Erica. And there also a possibility that Allison doesn't want to go back in the public eyes.

Erica told Rosenbaum that Allison tried to recruit her for the cult. So, she ain’t gonna want Allison there. Erica also said that during Smallville, Allison was frequently very rude to her.
