If you feel comfortable not having engineering or alchemy for survival, skinning is by far the best profession to farm early money for solo self found. Adding skinning to the beast grind increases your gold per hour quite a bit. 30% chance for 4s 50c adding a 100% chance for 1s 50c is doubling your raw drop rate of money if you only get 1 heavy leather, and you can get multiple heavy leathers in 1 skin. Also, even if you are not purely focusing on farming raw gold per hour, its still a great source of passive income. The only drawback is bag size so your farming area needs to have relatively close access to a vendor. If you can double the amount of raw gold you get per kill, it justifies your bags filling up quicker. Desolace on the strip near marudon with the hyenas, basalisk, vultures, and scorpions and you can sell at the kodo GY, Swamp of Sorrows if horde to sell at thrallmar or blasted lands if alliance. arathi highlands near your respective towns. and shimmering flat basilisks/turtles as you mentioned.

Im always farmed my mount with herbs , most of time kinda easy and fast. Find a herb that sells for 1-2 g and farm I’m for some hrs kinda easy
