There will never be another Morricone
This movie is a work of art. Its beyond the realms of screenplay structures and traditional storytelling. Its emotions and soul. The beauty of it is undeniable. This doesnt merely touches the heart, but stays in it forever. Grateful to Malick, Morricone and Nestor for creating this magic. My favorite film.
I am in FULL agreement. Wonderfully written.
Yes. Most definitely!!
How did you like The Thin Red Line?
Malick threw the screenplay away few days after shooting. This film is all emotion. Thats all you need.
Agreed on all accounts
One of those movies you wish you could just watch again for the first time! And absolutely gorgeous and haunting main theme. Filmmaking at its finest!
it just moves me to tears. this film is simply too masterful.
RIP Ennio Morricone, thank you for the amazing music. I hope you're living in this endless golden field now.
This film and Morricones tracks symbolizes America at the turn of the century. This type of creation is the beauty of the American Soul and the Will to survive. I am blessed to have enjoyed the depth of a people in our Heartland that remains timeless because of its existence. A gift that endures. Blessed writers crews and stars.
Magical score from Ennio Morricone. Dreamy, soothing and haunting in different measures. Days of Heaven was a visual and musical masterpiece.
one of the best ever: the movie, the music and the genius!
I was wondering why the score for this film was so good, and then I found out who composed it. It all makes sense now! Truly a wonderful composer, RIP
This soundtrack get better and better every time I listen
Heaven now has a new gem. RIP, Mr. Morricone.
Good bye to one of the greatest film composers.
Maybe the greatest?
The Greatest!!! RIP Maestro!!
You mean el maestro of Giu La Testa (Fist full of Dynamite-music transcends the title, but movie rocks) The Mission, Once Upon a Time in the West, OUTI America, El Bueno, El Cativo, El Bueno, Cinema Paradisio, etc, etc? Up there with John Barry, Max Steiner, Bernard Herrmann, Miklos Rozsa, John Williams, Korngold......
@@yaffayafo82 Jerry Goldsmith and Elmer Bernstein must be included..
@@jandreidrn and Alfred Newman ,Michel Legrand,
The music is perfect for the film. Both the film and the music are transcendental.
One of the most beautiful film soundtracks of all time, if the THE most. I love Bernard Herrmann's music, but Morricone upped Bernard with this one. Of course, the film is a total classic of emotion, drama, romance, realism and beauty. The pairing of this music with that film is a generally under-appreciated watershed moment in films.
I don’t even mind that the main theme was heavily influenced by “The Fish” from Saint Sean’s Carnival of the Animals.
RIP Sir Morrecone and Ms Linda Manz. Thank you for this masterpiece of a film.
I saw it when it was first released in 1978 in LA. The script, performance and score were indelible in the uniqueness of this film. It is a modern Greek tragedy and all the pieces fit so perfectly but what is is amazing is the setting...pre US entry into World War 1, in the panhandle of Texas (Alberta subbing). The beauty of the individual scenes....watching Woodrow Wilson's train passing through...the sudden arrival of the Italian flyers in their beautiful bi-planes the side comments by Linda Manz. This is a Malick's masterpiece.
No doubt to my mind. In fact to me it is the best movie I ever saw period. The music, the actors, the story and the music are of a stunning quality, beauty etc. I think Sam Sheperd played his role so so well. Geere wasn't bad either and so on. It is a case where we can understand everyone and feel sorry for the farmer but also the character played by Geere. Also, to me it is melancholic. I am unsure if ths portrays life at the beginning of last century well, but I see people workong, having a way of live etc that is simply totally gone. A look nto a past with a feeling that nothing they did lasted for more than a century. Kind a sad, at least to me.
The movie was an incredible visual experience, and the music was beyond engaging --- it was ephemeral!!
The music is so beautiful. This is my favorite film ever made. Like very touching poetry placed on film.
Genius. Music itself a masterpiece. Together with Malick’s visuals and inspiring narration it is unforgettable.
Ennio Morricone here presents us a very light and warm film score, that, well deserved, earned him an Oscarnomination (his first even!) in 1978. He also performs the second piece on the piano.
The music was taken from the FSM release that features the original album tracks, the tracks as heard and used in the film (as they are presented here) and on a bonus disc: many, many alternate takes.
I re-discovered this superb soundtrack thankfully, caused by the request of it.
Hope you enjoy it as I do!
Would a video of Morricone's music for 1900 would be possible?
Hello Albie,
by absolute coincidence I discovered your comment. I cannot explain how I could overlook it at the time you made it. I am very sorry, but therefor today's video is just for you!

Best wishes always

Just to show how these Oscars mimic the American mindset in which what is good in America must be good worldwide. No doubt there are many great American composers. But Morricone just getting this nomination in 1978 is telltale.
RIP. Thank you for your entire body of work. The world will always have you in their hearts. As soon as you hear his music you know it's Morricone.
A great master of music has passed.
Probably the best American film ever made (Trust by Hal Hartley a close second for me). Literally every constituent part is perfect - Almendros‘s cinematography, Manz‘s narration, Malick‘s direction and of course Morricone‘s music. Morricone never learned English so whenever he scored an English-language film he’d really have to play it by ear with the images on offer. What we hear pairs perfectly with what we see. Lush.
I've watched this move probably 5 or 6 times the last 20 years or so. I never get tired or bored with it. It's a work of art as far as I'm concerned, and hopefully it will be preserved for generations to come. Wonderful music!
It is my favorite film...ever!! Not everyone gets it. The music, the scenery, the way the actors never say too many lines in a row. It is like watching poetry on a screen.
@@thomascortino8215 I agree
I watch it once a year. It is sublime.
@@city__lights Sounds great. I enjoy watching it with expensive headphones to appreciate the beautiful music
@@thomascortino8215 Exactly. My all-time favorite film. Just perfection.
One of the best films ever made. The camera work was astonishing. And I'm a sucker for Texas movies.
Canada !
Filmed wheat fields Lethbridge Alberta... filming at dusk in northern clime produced amazing visuals.
Me too
Its the music and visuals for me. Thank you so much for a such a great vibe
Beautiful beyond belief.
The farmer and the Girl tears me up for no reason.
That reason is Morricone’s genius
because it's too deep for tears
RIP Ennio Morricone
Ennio Morricone | Bernard Herrmann | Elmer Bernstein | John Williams | Max Steiner - My Favt Five of Hollywood Composers
Mine as well with the inclusion of Jerry Goldsmith and Maurice Jarre who were also fine film score composers.
@@jandreidrn they're all in good company aren't they?!
Mid summer vibes
Another masterpiece 💕
So, no word to express except keep my self silent to mingle with something heavenly.
So beautiful! Oh, God, so beautiful! And the movie is also stunning!
A big Morricone fan, I didn't even know about this one. Giu La Testa (Fistful of Dynamite), Once Upon a Time in the West and America, as well as The Mission, are my faves.
Thanks for uploading!!!!!! My mother has been trying to get the full version of this soundtrack for literally decades and you just made me aware of the FSM release, which she did not know existed. Will be getting it for her birthday next month.
Incredibly beautiful music, cheers!
That sounds really great!
The price is still very fair and getting it won't be a problem.
Wishing you all the best!
Fred
P.S.
Would love to hear how your mother reacted to her future present!
This has been my favorite of all films since the day I first walked into a theater to see it -- September 26th, 1978. I went out and bought the vinyl soundtrack and later, two additional copies because I knew I might wear the grooves out of the first. One is still shrinkwrapped. My first VHS tape purchased was so that a friend with a VCR could tape it off a cable feed. I had neither a VCR or cable at the time. It was the first factoryVHS I bought. The first DVD and later the first BluRay.
By the way, I love this film.
I remember my lover richard gere always in my heart❤
Maestro Ennio Morricone , bravo
Love the ending of the movie you are left waging more....
Composer uses the oboe and bassoon in much of his works which enhances the haunting beauty.
I’ve been on a soundtrack kick while cleaning today. A little while ago I heard Jane Erye by John Williams (through your channel I believe), then I heard Out of Africa by John Barry, and Days of Heaven from Morricone. They have something in common: they’re all composers who are tied to a particular director, film genre, or film franchise. BUT they’re also composers who, with the works I just mentioned, show that they be more than just the things they’re usually known for; that they can stretch themselves.
I’ve never seen Days of Heaven but I’ve known of it. I didn’t know Morricone scored either. But wow is it good. Thanks for helping me discover this score, Soundtrack Fred 👍🏿
A MASTERPIECE this film. Thanks for sharing the wonderful soundtrack.
harika film, harika soundtrack
RIP, Maestro
Wow just discovered this track never seen the movie but it reminds me of carnival of the animals
It is. Morricone intentionally references the “Aquarium” movement from Camille Saint-Saëns’s Carnival of the Animals. He didn't hide it.
Goodbye, sir.
Amazing
certified banger
Recht geschickt gemacht.
Double Like
The Carnival of Animals seems to be the source of the main theme.
Great soundtrack to go with fantastic cinematography. It should be mentioned Morricone was inspired by French composer Camille Saint-Saens, whose piece "The Aquarium" is a lynchpoint in this film and also a very famous composition still used in films and commercials.
Listen to it here ua-cam.com/video/vNp0Hj8nku4/v-deo.html
I always thought it was from the same piece. Beautiful, both of them.
I noticed that and Harry Potter which came later was probably influenced by all these earlier film composers.
Hi Jim
I bet that's true. All art is influenced somewhat by what's gone before. Days of Heaven put Saint-Saen's Carnival of the Animals to great use. John Williams used Gustav Holstv"The Planets" heavily for Star Wars.
en.wikipedia.org/wiki/The_Planets
@@MrBretHampton Yes of course, Holst! I love that composition it is magical and spacey! The song "Bring him Home" owes a lot to the humming chorus from Puccini's "Madama Butterfly", it still takes a unique talent to start with one of Puccini's basic ideas and develop it into a whole new song with a different meaning.
I can also see the influence on Ennio from Webber's energetic "hunting music" as he termed it.
15th August 2020 Sad to report petite fascinating Linda Manz has died age - 58 - she would have been 59 next Thursday.
Any film soundtracks, or classical music pieces similar to the sound of this suite? Thank you for any recommendations
Good bye maestro
R I P
This single video on all of youtube, plays to 10 seconds and then starts over. Fuck.
Why did you edit the end theme , I was waiting for that ?!
Hello there!
The piece is basically a presentation of the main theme in various instrumentations. It was shortened (as beautiful as it is), because of the length of the track.
I think people who are not aware of the piece will enjoy it, research and enjoy the full version even more. For you I am sorry. It's always a task to make everyone happy.
All the best!
Fred
It is the main piece , people who don't know it are being short changed , you can't doctor that track I'm afraid ...Hatchet job !
Who died in the movie? Just curious
Richard Gere & Sam Shepard die in the movie. A must see although 42 years old it out live us ALL. Brilliance at its FINEST !! RIP Ennio Morricone and Linda Manz 🙏🏽❤️✝️
You.
