Some snobbish reporter was talking to her and disregarding the fact that her songs were EVERYWHERE and her records shot to the top of charts and stayed there and she won award after award, this reporter chose to concentrate on the fact that she had such a thick southern accent and I honestly don't see how she could have possibly made it any bigger than she did but this snob asked her, "Ms. Lynn, do you think you would have made it further in country music if it weren't for your accent?" Loretta looked at him with a puzzled look on her face and she asked, "What acceennntt?)"
Kitty Wells was the first Lady and Queen of country music before Lynn was even on the radio. In the 1967 Kitty was on in 1950 and was big in 1967 when Lynn came on the scene along with Tammy Wyenett. Plus others like Tanya Tucker all came in in the last 1960s and 1970s a great ten years for country music for the women and men that hit it big. Charlie Pride was the first black man in country and he sounded white his records sold out fast shot to number one out of the box. But they didn't put his picture on his first album cover vinal records. Nobody knew what he looked like till he walked out on the grand ole opera in the late sixties or early seventies. The the opera was a gasp of silence when they say Charlie Pride for the first time. He had good songs and a great voice. And he was handsome also. Good looking man in his younger years like all of us are.
She did a reasonable job of it, honestly it’s not in her wheelhouse but she was good and took on an extremely difficult song, putting yourself self up against Freddy vocally is an extremely brave choice
"It's only the most popular song of all-time." What??? It charted at #9 and critics weren't too impressed by it. If Wayne's World didn't revive it in 1992, it would be nowhere near a known. With that being said, it's still an awesome song.
Gutsy move on her part doing that song and what a privilege it must have been for her to meet members of Queen. That was really cool. She did a good job with the song and, quite frankly, it helps that she is super cute.😎

Kellie rocked it, but the band messed up the ending. One of the biggest problems witb American Idol. Lots of songs messed up because of time constraints.
