Was going to buy a U-type but I found out that they are made for right-handed people. As a lefty, my right hand would be on the U-Handle. Echo says holding it this way would result in the muffler against my hip. I held the SRM-3020U with that same harness provided that you are using & the handlebars felt very awkward. 1. Did it take you long to get used to handlebars? 2. Did you upgrade to a double harness?
I bought a brush cutting kit for my Echo SRM 225 trimmer but opted for the 22 tooth blade to cut bigger diameter saplings. Echo sells a 8 tooth grass & 80 tooth brush blade as well. I've found the 22 tooth cuts anything up to the rated 2 1/2" diameter just fine: grass, weeds, brush, trees, etc. Living on a farm, I think this choice is more versatile and useful for me: one blade cuts all.
I did not know about the 10 o’clock to 2 o’clock range. Thank you. I have experienced those ‘jerks’ and didn’t give it any thought. Also, thanks for your mention of the need to cut beyond the preferred range in some circumstances. This is a very helpful video, Blessings 😊
I have an srm225 that I bought specifically so I could put a blade kit on it. I have loved it and it has saved my yard which was being taken over by brush and small trees. I bought a renegade blade for it. I'm having an issue with it this year and will get someone to work on it for me (I've tried everything I can think of and I know when to hand the job over to someone with more experience), but in the meantime I'm thinking of buying a new one with the u handle. While I'm pretty strong for a 50 year old woman, I'm thinking the u handle might make the work more comfortable for me. I found this video while trying to determine if it's worth it or not. When I get my current one fixed, I can keep string on it and use both.
The description you gave about the area of the blade to use 9-12 o'clock is good advise I'm wondering why they did't make the guard so it covers the 12-6 o'clock position which would mostly prevent unwanted kickbacks.
You did a good job I do cut grass for a living I use Echo for my yard work but I will get another one next year it might be an Echo SRM 3020 torque power
I have found the high tooth count blades to cut much slower as well as create more heat than a lower tooth count blade. The Renegade 44 tooth hybrid blade cuts night and day better than the 80 tooth blade.
I think u made my decision....I was looking at he 2620/3020...3020 was heavier (only by a little.)..and then I looked at the 2620 pas system.attached the saw blade to it.. (didn't turn it on, the store wouldn't let me)...I was wondering how thick it cut...I got my anser.
I like to imagine my brushcutting attachment is a scythe and I use it as such. My flimsy .08 line doesn't like pressure but the saw blade can handle some. I also use the smaller handle accessory because those ski poles are too cumbersome for my needs.
Someone needs to do a video on assembly of the brush cutter the book is full of safety warnings and multiple languages however when it comes to putting it together it's like Ikea.
I called Echo about their pathetic booklet and lack of videos. I also asked for Tech Support to help me with the Throttle Linkage that keeps popping out of the groove in the screw, on my new Echo SRM-2620U. They told me that that they don't have any staff trained to help customers w/their Echo tools. WTH? I finally got a supervisor that apologized and said she would do a video and email it to me. 4 calls later and still no video. The 2620U is a beast, but very upset with ZERO Customer Support after the sale. They did suggest taking it to a dealer, but I explained that this would mean a 20 mile (one way) trip. Ridiculous that they don't have Tech Support or Videos. The Echo harness (in video) is crap. Not thrilled w/the blade that comes with it. A lot of people recommend the Renegade Blades.
@felixechat1780...yeah sure IF you want to spend the day on your knees and your back won't be too happy either...see comment about using your teeth. hahaha
Have you used a brushcutter attachment for your heavier jobs? If so, do you use U-type or regular handlebars? Let us know below!

5 years later, this video is still helpful. Thanks bud.
Glad to hear it!

Good to see you Brad, I watch your channel
Did you hit the chainlink? If so, what happens? If not, Kudo's on your control!
Sorry for the late reply! I think I did in a few spots. It sliced through it like cheese! XD
@@CopperCreekCuts The blade sliced through the chain link fence?
Do you have video on the harness and balance of trimmer/ cutter?
Good info, I have an Echo 42.7 brush cutter, some of your tips will apply to the bigger machine, good tips.
Thanks for the 9 @ 12 recommendation.
Same here. Very helpful tip.
whats the advantge over this and an extended hedger?

Very informative video. I’m looking into the Echo PAS 2620 system with the brush cutter attachment. Thanks for all the safety tips!
Garrett Maddox you can add Brushcutters attachment to any echo model. It’s a kit
Did you buy one & if so....How did you like it & did it take you long to get used to handlebars?
I'm looking for a unit for brush cutting also
Thank You Sir!! Great Help!!
Disclaimer......never ever dive in that area ever again to catch a football pass where all those stubs are .......THE NO DIVE ZONE!
One thing I found out is its made for small brush l and small honey suckle.
What's the next step after cutting the thin branches/brush to get rid of the small roots
Basil or round up on the stump
Try the forester blade,it’s way faster.
Who makes that? The Forester blade?
Great 9-12 tip!
Those aren't ear muffs. He is playing this music while he works.
you can do the same job with a dollar store 2$ saw
...why get fancy with a $2 saw when you can do it for free with your teeth?

Wear a pair of chain saw chaps
Yes it easier to just karate chop it. If its too thick then you're screw either way.
Seems to take too long for big jobs
The blade sucks. Use a better blade like the Diablo and its golden.
