  • Barclay James Harvest - Suicide?
    Lyrics:
I woke up to a feeling, it was cold by my side

You had gone with the sunrise, leaving tears in my eyes

I grew up to a feeling of an emptiness inside

To the sounds of the sidewalk and the silence of my mind

I walked out this morning, down a street with no name

To a club called "The Loser", like a dog that's gone lame

Took the club elevator to the floor with a view

I took out life subscription - that's the only one they do

I stepped out on the guard rail, saw the crowds slowly part

Heard a voice shouting "Don't jump, please for God's sake let me move my car!"

Felt a hand on my shoulder, heard a voice cry "Just in time!"

Felt the quick push, felt the air rush

Felt the sidewalk, fell in line

So sad, this song turns out to be Woolly's epitaph. Depression is a terrible illness. I will sorely miss him, the 'soul' of BJH. Thanks for posting this fine performance.

any one who takes their own life should not be stigmatised they need what most of us don`t see and hope we don`t have to, help. we turn our backs , we don`t lisen we`re in our own safe little world while they are at their end and the only way out.(is) their not cowards it`s not a cowards way out but for me , it takes guts to do what they have to. TO FIND PEACE.

I saw these guys in concert sometimes in the early 80's and thought they were great. Nice and melodic music.
Another great band I saw was CAMEL. Just search for "ICE" by CAMEL and enjoy beautiful guitar playing by Andy Latimer.
It was nice to hear BJH after all these years. Thanks for sharing.

wow...really poignant cause Wolly committed suicide. Only those that suffer from severe clinical depression know the depths of despair it takes us too. Pray for a better understanding of this disease and better treatments and a reduction in stigmatism.

s'il ne devait rester qu'un morceau de BJH, pour moi ce serait celui-ci... il me hante depuis près de 40 ans..... aujourd'hui encore, en l'écoutant, j'en ai des frissons...

Piękny, wspaniały utwór, chociaż, jak wiele Innych utworów Barclay James Harvest inspirowany innymi znanymi piosenkami My, Polacy, znamy go głównie dzięki audycjom radiowym niezapomnianego Tomka Beksińskiego. Dziękuję!
Beautiful, great song, though, like many other tracks of Barclay James Harvest was inspired by other well-known songs We, Poles, know this song mainly through radio broadcasts of unforgettable Tomek Beksinski. Thank you!

Je vous adore depuis l' année 1980 mais j' en connais assez puisque je possède la plupart des 33 tours et CD, ainsi que DVD, le mieux est que mon frère qui a onze ans de moins vous a vu sur scène, a tous les disques et vous adore aussi !

I had loaned Octoberon to a classmate, he returned it saying he preferred Gone to Earth. He was killed a couple of hours later when a bomb exploded prematurely on the train into Belfast, sad song
