Eating BONE MARROW like CAVEMAN in the FOREST | 100-YEAR-OLD AXE!!! | Bow Drill Fire From Scratch

  • Not only will I cook bone marrow over an open fire, but I will also start the fire with a bow drill fire from scratch using materials in the woods around me with an axe I found in the walls of a 100-year-old house!
    Bone marrow contains over 750 calories per 100 grams!!!
    I will cook and eat bone marrow from deer bones in the woods by producing fire from friction using a 100-year-old axe that I found buried in the walls of a building I was renovating!
    I will show you step-by-step how to make a bow drill fire using cedar that can be found in nearly any forest. From selecting the right kinds of woods, shaping the bow, spindle and bearing block to the tinder, kindling, soft and hard wood. I also show how to cut the notch and how deep to go and how to hold the bow and drill for maximum results.
    Find out if I am successful at producing friction fire and decide for yourself if bone marrow is a viable source of calories for modern man as it was most certainly for early man on his quest to dominate every part of the planet.
    Not only is bone marrow highly nutritious, it's also packed full of calories essential to sustain life. Early humans no doubt took part in eating bone marrow, both raw and cooked due to how high it is in calories and because it was readily available since most animals can't access the marrow inside of bones like humans can.
    Find out of how to roast bones over an open fire like a caveman to get at the roasted bone marrow.
    Many cultures still use bone marrow as food, but it was also used historically. Early humans were thought to be scavengers, not just hunters, fishers and gatherers. Marrow is a good source of fat and early hominids would have used rocks or other tools to crack open the bones left by higher predators including cats.
    Marrow can also be eaten raw, but it was considered a delicacy and scooped right out of fresh bones. Marrow can be used in pemmican. While it is still eaten today, it has fallen out of favour. Bone marrow can be used as a soup base by boiling and leaching. It can be spooned onto toast and eaten like a spread.

      It's great. A rare treat for us but when we process a Steer we have them for breakfast in the winter on thick cut homemade bread with a bit of butter and a couple poached eggs.
      Central Texas has mild winters but I often climb up really high on different kinds of structures to weld.
      Nothing to block the cold wet wind and that equals a lot more calories burned.
      Summer I hardly eat but always thirsty.

      I tried beef bone marrow the first time a year ago at a beer club. They served us a boiling pot with 4 huge, arm-sized bones sticking up, with 4 plastic straws on the side. The whole section of marrow inside was chunky like tofu or jelly, and was absolutely divine. 100% must try. You'll get addicted.

I I would never use a spindle bigger then my thumb because it's more surface area being displaced evenly, which means you have to have more Force the bigger spindle you have. The smaller the spindle the less downward Force he need.
      He is right though if it's small you have less uses of it. But I carry bags of spindles while training, when hiking you look for anything you could use while on the move.

      We have an everlasting culture and almost everyone on earth contributes to that same society in some way shape or form, making it even stronger.
      Life in society isn't automatically monotonous, you just have to earn enough of this thing called currency and you can do whatever you want in life that other people make for you.

    • @StoicVeR
      @StoicVeR 6 років тому

      hippies give naturalists a bad name. People think 'being one with nature' is taking a stroll in the jolly woods, smelling the flowers, going zen. The reality is survival, knowing how to survive, and knowing your limits. Otherwise, you're another hiker on the news - you're missing or they found your bones after five years of missing.

    • @christina9828
      @christina9828 6 років тому +2

      I really do think it's good either way if we're talking about nature. Yes it's good to know how to survive out in the woods but it's also good to raise awareness of nature and animals and how we should be helping the planet.

    • @sourceascension8829
      @sourceascension8829 6 років тому

      There's an inner and outer "being in tune" with nature. This video is the outer reality, which is amazing, and must be learnt for survival. The inner reality is charkras and meditations. It's all about balance, if you are too outwardly - (if that made sense) - then you'll be a brute, or if you're too inwardly then you'll be this "hippie" that you're referring to. Perspective. :)
