You guys down in Miami are opening the doors for so many departments, it's just awesome. I want to commend you Nick & your unit for all the hard work you do in showing us another side of the badge that not many see. Humanizing the badge is something we all need to see. Hopefully our department here in NY can get a program like this started & rest assured, we'll be calling you for tips :-) Lol. Good job guys and keep em coming! Love from NY
Miami Police Department I've been to Marlins stadium before on a vacation to Disney World. After Disney I went to my great uncles house and he was a doctor for the Marlins. He retired from that a while ago. When I was there he gave my fam so VIP tickets to go into the locker room. It was so cool! I got to meet some awesome people there. There was one guy I met there. I will remember that experience for the rest of my live, do u know y? Well the person that I met was Jose Fernandez. When he came to America he rode on a boat with his mom (I'm guessing that his dad passed away or divorced his mom). His mom fell off the boat. Jose bravely went into the sea to save his mom. He risked his live to save his mom. They both made it to America safely. A couple years later he was in Miami Beach Florida going on a boat with his pregnant girlfriend. ( I don't think his girlfriend didn't go on the boat with him). Midway on his ride the boat failed and unfortunately blew up. He passed away that day. September 25 2016. I will cherish that picture for the rest of my life. He was a great man and he was only 24 years old.

If an officer is in their ceremonial gear they have to wear shiny belts/shoes. Regular duty unis wear nylon.
