I love how we can learn so much from this even if we think we know a lot na. This is such a healthy educational conversation about one's self, sexuality, and identity. I hope this spreads! LGBTQIA+ ally here!!
Okay here. Correct me if I'm wrong, and feel free to add any info that I may have missed. Cisgender people are people whose gender identity and/or expression aligns with their biology. So a female who is a woman and feels like a woman, or a male who is a man and feels like a man. Transgender is the opposite of that. These are people whose gender identity and/or expression do not align with their biological sex. So a person assigned female at birth who identifies as a man, and vice versa. However, their gender identity and/or expression does not automatically dictate their sexual orientation. So if cisgender woman ka and you're exclusively attracted to the men, straight ka. A cis woman exclusively attracted to women? Lesbian. A person attracted to both? Bisexual. A person attracted to none? Asexual. A person attracted to anyone regardless of their labels? Pansexual. For trans people, it would be the same, but you have to take into consideration how they identify. So in this case, a straight transman would be a transman atttacted to someone who identifies as a woman. Same mechanism for gay, lesbian, bisexual, ace (asexual), and pan (pansexual) transgender people.
actually aromantic ang walang romantic attraction to anyone. asexuals can have romantic relationships pero walang sexual ones (but they can still participate in such acts for their partner)
Sex estimation is the process of assessing whether skeletal remains are biologically male or female. Sex estimation is vital in establishing an accurate biological profile from the human skeleton, as sex influences the analysis of other elements (e.g., stature and age). Sex estimation is based on the premise that male and female skeletal morphology differs in size and shape. This difference is referred to as sexual dimorphism. Practitioners distinguish between estimating sex by visually examining skeletal features (nonmetric methods) versus estimating sex using equations based on skeletal dimensions (metric methods). Experienced practitioners can quickly and easily assess sex by examining nonmetric traits, particularly those of the pelvis.
I'd like to be educated more on this. So a person can identify themself as transman without fully transitioning? What then would be this person's difference between a lesbian? or is the difference just lies on their personal identification? I hope I'm not being offensive to the community.
@Mugatu Yes. The difference of a Lesbian from a Transgender man is their Gender Identity/Identification. Lesbian can express themselves as male but they still identify themselves as Women. While Transgender Men express themselves as men and identify themselves as men regardless of what they have between their legs. 😊
I know we are stuck with the word Transition/ Transitioning/ Transform/Transformation that lies to the term Transgender that's why some thinks that we have to Transition to be considered as Trans. But, that's not like that. It will always go down with the Gender Preference or Gender Identity of a person. You can check the SOGIE so you can underatand more about it. 🏳️🌈
Yes you can be trans without fully transitioning, there are actually people who don't go thru transition at all and they still identify themselves as trans. Dahil gender is just a social construct, and you asked what is a trans person's difference to a lesbian, well lesbian is a sexuality and not a Gender Identity. Sexuality is who you're attracted to, Gender Identity is what you identify yourself.
Remember that there are all kinds of lesbians. The stereotype for lesbians is parang butch, masculine, di ba? But don't forget that lesbians can present in any way - masculine, feminine, or even both or neither. So 'yun.
The reason trans people transition is because they're trans in the first place, so yes the identity comes first. Lesbians are women attracted to women, and trans men are men who happened to be assigned female at birth. This does not have to do with who they're attracted to. Trans people can also be gay, straight, bisexual, etc.
As long as wala tayong natatapakang tao, let's all continue to find our own happiness, do whatever we want and express however we want. After all, we live in a democratic country where we are given rights, free will and freedom. However, most of us usually forget that there is no such thing as absolute freedom. Everything has limitation, everything has boundaries. And these limitations; laws and rules keep a striving society in order. Just because we can do whatever we want, we will do it at the expense of other people. Keep in mind, "our right ends when the right of others begin". But then again I strongly believe that Filipinos have high regards to morality and are well aware that regardless of our self expression, objective reality and biological truths still exists. For these reasons, I hope that whatever rights we will fight for in the future (I believe the LGBTQIA+ community deserves more rights and recognition in this country) , we will still keep ourselves grounded and stand firm with our morals. Note: A lot of you may be confused to what I'm saying or may take offense (It is never my intention). But this is coming from someone who had witnessed the radical agenda of the LGBTQIA+ community in the west. I'm all for inclusivity but most things there have gone too far.
Cisgender is the opposite of transgender, which means that if you are not transgender, and you identify with the gender that you were assigned as a baby, then you are cisgender :)
Ano po ba ang cisgender? Correct me if I wrong. Ang pag kakaintindi ko is like her gender identity is a women and pinanganak sya na babae but when it comes to love preferences pwedeng sa male sa female sa gay or bisexual? Tama po ba ? Medyo nacoconfuse ako hehe At meron palang straight trans. Ang straight trans ba only applies when a trans men fells inlove with a trans women (viceversa) ?
@Mat Cruz Cisgender is yung Gender Identity ng isang tao is Tugma sa assigned Sex at Birth nito. Always remember na iba ang Gender sa Sex. Ang Love preference ay iba sa Gender Identity, ito naman yung tinatawag nateng Sexual Attraction or Sexual Orientation. Which is connected sa next question mo about Trans being Straight. Hindi lang sya nagaapply sa Trans Man who fell inlove with a Trans Woman, it applies to all. Again, magkaiba ang Gender Identity sa Sexual Attraction/ Orientation. Example ng Straight is yung attraction mo sa opposite sex mo regardless kung Biologicaly Female/Male or Trans itong nagugutuhan or minamahal mo. 😊
@@aijubalancio7876 so basically yung cisgender straight sila tama ba ? Its just that they support lgbt so parang ally sila ?
No, Straight and Bi is a Sexual Orientation and it's different with Gender Identity. Cisgender Woman sya kasi she identify her gender as Female and it's alligned with her sex at birth. Sexual Orientation will not affect Gender Identity kasi magkaibang label yun or magkaiba ang ibig sabihin nun..
You can try researching about SOGIE and you can start from there so you will understand the differences of Gender Identity, Sexual Orientation and Expression.. If you Identify yourself na Babae ka kahit magkagusto ka sa kapwa mo Babae, Babae ka pa din. Kung babae ka and magkagusto ka sa lalaki at sa babae, Babae ka pa din. That's Gender Identity. Again, Sexual Attraction is kung kanino ka nagkakagusto and that will not affect your GI..
Cisgender and heterosexual are different. Cisgender is a gender identity, and heterosexual is a sexuality / sexual preference. Cisgender means you identify with the gender assigned to you at birth, while transgender means you identify with a different gender than the one assigned to you at birth. Heterosexual means you are attracted to a gender other than your gender. Homosexual means you are attracted to the same gender. So even transgender people can be homosexual or bisexual. A trans gay man would have been assigned female at birth, identifies as male, and is attracted to men as well.
Straight is not necessarily about the act of doing sex. straight sya kasi attracted sya sa opposite gender. It just so happened na ang partner nya is a transwoman. A note to remember is that a trans person does not necessarily require a gender affirming surgery to be trans.
@@tope2340 I got confused because I thought that if you're trans male, you'd be attracted to a female (biological or trans) 🤷so mentioning straight with trans caught me off guard 😅 I guess straight in the sense that the reproductive organs involved during sex were "complimentary" and not the same. @@JakeObnial It's understandable to be confused. I too took time to be able to understand what it means to be trans. Just think that a person can be a transman AND be gay. same goes the other way. Anyone whose gender identity matches the one they were assigned at birth. (i.e. the vast majority of the population)
