That is a good selection of stuff for anyone suddenly having to live in their car or truck because of a short-notice emergency evacuation or flooding that takes out a bridge or a landslide that blocks a road. I would add the following things to my dollar store survival kit: toothbrush, dental floss, bar of soap, face cloth, underarm deodorant, hair comb, small bottle of Dawn dishwashing detergent, extra pair of socks, cheap Mylar emergency blanket and a cheap plastic rain poncho. These items will help keep you clean, dry, odor-free and healthy (yes, you can use Dawn like shower gel as well as wash dishes with it). If I had more money I would also add some small votive candles with one glass holder (light one candle for heat and light inside a vehicle), a metal mug for each person (for hot beverages or soup), a small metal bowl for each person (for serving meals), a box of plastic spoons, a package of wooden chopsticks (for turning frying food, for eating solid food and for kindling) and a Thermos-like container (for keeping food and beverages warm for hours so that I could get two hot cooked meals each time I cooked one meal over a campfire). I would also add some boxes of whole grain trail bars or breakfast bars and some bags of roasted nuts for quick, no-cook meals when it is raining. I came across that same paracord at my local Dollar Tree the other day. They had a couple of colors - black, maybe yellow ant the teal you showed. I went with the teal. I'm sure it isn't 550 but does it really have to be that strong? I'm sure it is plenty strong. The thing is I have bought so-called paracord at places like Home Depot and instead of individual, inner strands it has a core made of loose, nylon 'fuzzy' fibers that aren't much use and the ends of the cordage don'y melt to seal very cleanly. Not knowing what to expect I cut one end off the Dollar Tree paracord and was pleased to see it actually has seven, individual inner strands.
Don't you guys (North Americans) have the problem that tax isn't included in the advertised price? How much would that $20 purchase actually cost at the cash register?
$3 in firestarting, either the 2 pk of lighters or the matches enough. Bed roll with the shower curtain and paracord to carry the items so can lose the trash bags. Also, if you really want trash bags you have the plastic bags provided free at checkout they put your stuff into. You have plenty of time so a cover not really needed to boil the water. You have the duct tape so lose the gauze and the med kit which is mostly band aids anyway. So $6 more of additional items can be added. Add feminine hygiene pads for bandages that can be used with the duct tape. I'm going with $1 of Ramen, two 5 oz bags of trail mix, toilet paper and antiseptic hand wipes.
May 6, 2020 and you know what is happening. You gave me some good ideas. I bet if done right I could fry food on those cook top covers. The cheap plastic party table cloths are bigger then the shower curtain. Make a rain cover for a shelter.

@@KiwiDragn I got one of those mallets and I also use them to break off frozen sludge/ice from around my car's wheels in winter. (I live in Michigan). Have great day! Blessings - Judith
Rice and Lentils is my first choice food as well. I would have looked for a container of cooking oil to add to that. 1/4th cup each lentil and rice and 1 tablespoon oil is about 450 calories (1/4th cup is about 50 grams of either lentils or rice they weigh out almost the same). One pound bag each equates to 9 meals in this respect.
I can't believe that your dollar tree has real actual Oreos even the double stuffed my personal favorite. I just spent 3.50 at my local grocery store. Totally jealous, LOL
Agreed, I would rather you spend a weekend with your family teaching your kids the basics. Than a week by yourself. Besides teaching your kids will help us who don't know as much as you to learn or reinforce the stuff we know
Trade out those metal lids for a jar of peanut butter (also give you a second water container when used up) and that shower curtain for a paint tarp. And maybe splurge on some toilet paper. The bread pan will be good for meals since it's non-stick, even though it is aluminum, but since this is short term, it's good.
I posted a negative comment on now of your other videos, noting some wastefulness, so this one I’m gonna post a positive. The flashlight you chose is an excellent one. I have a couple myself, and they are really a good value. They have a carabiner-like clip on top, a brace to lean on the ground, and two light choices: focused beam and diffuse lantern. They take 3 AA batteries, put out a decent amount of light, are pretty durable, and the light lasts a good long time. Good choice!
I've been looking through all your videos and surprised that you haven't built a bug out bag specifically for winter time I'd think it be an awesome video idea
He did pretty goods on his pick in that store. Did not get the pocket knife which was the smart move. As they break really ease . I would gone for the kitchen knife to. but you need to take a good look at them and make sure the have a full tang. In mine they sell the little danish cookies in the tin and some other snack in a a tall tins . I would grad those . 2 for one. They also sell glow stick 4 to a pack which i get for when the power goes out the craft section some time have tins in them along with some other things . that may be helpful. Glow in the dark stars to mark tree at night to help find you way foam board make a nice bedding . heavy foil can make a blow and cups add duck tape to make a water pouch . solar lights . petroleum jelly has so many uses. It may save your life in so many ways .
I sprung for a card multi tool. Did everything it said on the tin and more. Still have it to this day. And you're right about getting glow sticks. If you're going to be out in the wild for 10 days or longer, something with batteries are not necessarily the best option. Besides, if you bought two bottles of water, one can be used as a lantern. Water disperses light over a wide area so you get better coverage. I put the glow stick in, the water acts as a coolant, slowing the reaction time of the chemicals, so you get more light for longer.
Your dollar tree is clean and organized .The ones where I live is dirty and stuff is scattered everwhere.your feet stick to the floor.by the party supplies there is sterno cans
I got a Coban type wrap at the farm supply for a dollar a roll. That is a great buy for wrapping over an arm or leg injury. Dollar Tree also has evaporated milk and flour.
Put the matches in one of the ziplock bags to keep them dry and ditch the lighters. Rice and pasta use valuable water, and unless you are planning on reusing the water for cooking again, I'd find something else, but you will then need two bottles of water. One for drinking and one for using saved water from cooking the pasta/rice. Just a thought
I love going to Dollar Tree but I would have grabbed two tarps, the red crazy glue, the 7 day candle, just the 2 pack Bic lighter, a container of oatmeal, the regular rice and lentils, 2 cans of spaghetti sauce because I can use it for cooking after, 2 paracord, bigger water, bandanas, folding knife, can opener, pasta, poncho, emergency blanket. That's also based of what mine has.
Swapping out that water container was wise! I got those $1 jugs for my kids years ago and they SUCKED! They leaked like hell. I think I’d have gone for a dog food dish for my metal container to boil from. But he was super creative! I can’t wait to see the next video.
I appreciate you, brother. Thank you for the video. I've got three kids and trying to make individual BOB bags for them that will at least give them a chance. These Dollar store options are great. Again, Thank you much.
Instead of the shower curtain I would have bought a flannel back table cloth for a shelter if you don't have tarps there. The table cloths are tough. And for cooking pots I would have bought things in cans then used the cans for a lot and lid...in many sizes.
You could have gotten some candles. They do well for both fire starting and light. I would like to see some family of four 3 day MRE challenge. Three meals per day, an entree, a side, a sweet and a drink for each meal, plus two snacks each day. You could give a dollar limit as to how much you can spend or a weight limit (light weight for ease of transport and storage).
I buy some hurricane supplies from the DT. Cheack around all the one as in your city as different areas cater to different clientele. We have one near the colloeg so they have a lot of home goods and food. Same for an area that predomitaly poor. And one near a high school that has school suppliers and snacks
you picked up aluminium bread baking dish and left stainless steel dog water bowl behind which would do much better specially that you got those round covers
you could use the bandannas as a hobo pack. Just gotta find a stick to hold it over your shoulder, in the woods those are everywhere. That said, the trashbags are still a good idea
Those bootleg Swiss Army pocket knives ARE worth WAY more than a buck. It's almost as dull as a butter knife when you get it, but you can put a decent edge on it in a few minutes. Same goes for the can opener - a little elbow grease and that $1 pocket knife will open cans faster than a P-38. Dollar tree also has (poured) sharpening stones and a few of them even have actual tarps (instead of shower curtains). They were only like 5'x4' so not big enough for an adult to lay down under, but at that price, you could easily get two, lash them and tape the seams with your duck tape. Oh, that lantern IS decent. You can't see it from the package, but it has a flat bottom to use on tables and a stand in the back of you want to angle it up for some reason. The past few years, Dollar Tree has had some impressive headlamps. For $1 ($1.25 now) they actually have a strobe setting and last time I checked, the $1 Ozark Trail ones at Walmart didn't. Dollar Tree also has jute twine (if you want natural fibers to blend in or be biodegradable) and really good wire you can make snares out of. The zip seal (sometimes Ziplock brand) bags are great not just for food and water storage, but for keeping gear dry. I have seen socks, t shirts, gloves, hats, scarves and gaiters at Dollar Tree that you may want to keep dry in a survival kit. They even have mini snack containers that are waterproof which you can store your matches and other sensitive gear in. Know what's nuts? Last time I was in a Dollar Tree they actually had mini backpacks!! It's like they WANT us to make Dollar Tree survival kits!!
Based on my experience with dollar tree swiss army style knives I would have just gone with the kitchen knife and if there was one available some sort of sharpener, that thing will not hold an edge long.

I can't believe that your dollar tree has real actual Oreos even the double stuffed my personal favorite. I just spent 3.50 at my local grocery store. Totally jealous, LOL
Timothy Volkers lmao 😂 (Tims Takeaway... BRO!!! BUT... THE OREOS) haha
Screw the Sausages - You missed the Oreos!
Lucky Stockdale Lmao Right!
@@DropForgedSurvival
I am so disappointed in you Chris so disappointed I might just need to unsubscribe.😡😄LOL
I see you brought the brains of the family with you!
Haha 😆
You should do a weekend challenge for the whole family. Whatever gear you like.
Frank Nolan That would be a fun one during Thanksgiving or Christmas Holiday
Agreed, I would rather you spend a weekend with your family teaching your kids the basics. Than a week by yourself. Besides teaching your kids will help us who don't know as much as you to learn or reinforce the stuff we know
@@DropForgedSurvival Yeah if the SHTF, you'll definitely be taking them with you so they need to know what to expect.
Interesting ideas! I have heard far worse! Thanks 🙏
You.bought knives bandanas and garbage bags he must of thought you were serial killers
lil Quick scope ...and duct tape ...
And duct tape. haha
Nice! Lmao! Plus the baking pan????
Lol - very funny!
Lol
I posted a negative comment on now of your other videos, noting some wastefulness, so this one I’m gonna post a positive.
The flashlight you chose is an excellent one. I have a couple myself, and they are really a good value. They have a carabiner-like clip on top, a brace to lean on the ground, and two light choices: focused beam and diffuse lantern. They take 3 AA batteries, put out a decent amount of light, are pretty durable, and the light lasts a good long time. Good choice!
Living in the uk it's weird as hell seeing a dollar/pound shop selling pocket knives, we think a butter knife is an offensive weapon lmao
UK 🇬🇧 Has awesome things things about it. I loved living there. But some of the laws are asinine
DropForgedSurvival very true
Nerdgasm 03 I feel sorry for the UK sometimes except now Brexit!
I can’t believe you can’t even buy melatonin without a ‘script...
Fun fact: I actually once did Jury duty at a court case where a man stabbed his cousin with a butter knife!!!
Hi 👋 suggestions: frozen concrete assorted juices 🥤 and throats lozenges!
I've been looking through all your videos and surprised that you haven't built a bug out bag specifically for winter time I'd think it be an awesome video idea
I got faith in you. It would be awsome to see you out in the field with that set up you got there
T'erre Wilkins Im excited to go for it but a smidge nervous also
@@DropForgedSurvival most people do 24-48 hours, but you have honed your skills pretty good
@@DropForgedSurvival you have skills. Show us a video of you in the wild with nothing. You choose the amount of days. More then 2 tho. You can do it
He did pretty goods on his pick in that store.
Did not get the pocket knife which was the smart move. As they break really ease .
I would gone for the kitchen knife to. but you need to take a good look at them and make sure the have a full tang.
In mine they sell the little danish cookies in the tin and some other snack in a a tall tins . I would grad those . 2 for one.
They also sell glow stick 4 to a pack which i get for when the power goes out
the craft section some time have tins in them along with some other things . that may be helpful.
Glow in the dark stars to mark tree at night to help find you way
foam board make a nice bedding .
heavy foil can make a blow and cups add duck tape to make a water pouch .
solar lights .
petroleum jelly has so many uses.
Maybe report your store to corporate. Itll change quick
I would look for a good pot at a second hand store.
I got a Coban type wrap at the farm supply for a dollar a roll. That is a great buy for wrapping over an arm or leg injury. Dollar Tree also has evaporated milk and flour.
Well you could say any budget was an over priced salad and a cup of coffee
Two of the bread pans, instead of the covers. Can be used as a cover over itself and if one gets damaged you still have have a pan to cook with.
1:15 It’s been my experience that the “box cutter” is sharper that their knives.
Super flimsy though, you could snap it with two fingers
This is such an incredible idea.
Is this a trending challenge that I dont know about? Freaking Brilliant ❤
I don’t think so. Some have done overnighters but nothing even close to 7 days
You have went to the pet isle for a metal doggy bowl.
Wow, looking at the title I expected this video to be dragged out to 20-25 minutes long. Much appreciated for solid editing!
Almost have the likes! Don't forget to consume the liquid in that can of sausages. You are going to need the salt for flavor and performance.
Nice Tip.
It's 2 am right now and I'm learning how to survive the apocylapse XD
Great shopping, I never thought of the dollar tree. You should have given a $50 harbor freight tour to your dollar tree camping trip.
I'd love to see you out in the field with that crap lol. Good luck dude.
Thanks bud
It's nice your mom still brings you shopping
I love going to Dollar Tree but I would have grabbed two tarps, the red crazy glue, the 7 day candle, just the 2 pack Bic lighter, a container of oatmeal, the regular rice and lentils, 2 cans of spaghetti sauce because I can use it for cooking after, 2 paracord, bigger water, bandanas, folding knife, can opener, pasta, poncho, emergency blanket. That's also based of what mine has.
My goal is to forage and attempt to grab wild food during the adventure. But I 100% get the point of more food.
@@DropForgedSurvival I sadly don't have those awesome skills except for foraging for berries 🤣 really good at finding those.
I like this list! I'd switch out the crazy glue for a stainless steel bowl from the pet section for cooking but otherwise good to go!
Swapping out that water container was wise! I got those $1 jugs for my kids years ago and they SUCKED! They leaked like hell. I think I’d have gone for a dog food dish for my metal container to boil from. But he was super creative! I can’t wait to see the next video.
the yellow rice is a STAPLE in my diet 🤤
Mine too!
I believe most dollar trees have metal dog bowls. Check out that area next time you go! :)
Can’t wait to see what this brings love these videos
I appreciate you, brother. Thank you for the video. I've got three kids and trying to make individual BOB bags for them that will at least give them a chance. These Dollar store options are great. Again, Thank you much.
I would have bought a canned ham or something to season those beans.
Instead of the shower curtain I would have bought a flannel back table cloth for a shelter if you don't have tarps there. The table cloths are tough.
And for cooking pots I would have bought things in cans then used the cans for a lot and lid...in many sizes.
Overpriced salad and a cup of coffee lol. I feel you on that. Food costs too much nowadays.
Who else wants to survive world war three but is broke 🙋
Razpberry I literally am here because of that lol
I buy some hurricane supplies from the DT. Cheack around all the one as in your city as different areas cater to different clientele.
We have one near the colloeg so they have a lot of home goods and food. Same for an area that predomitaly poor. And one near a high school that has school suppliers and snacks
*covid-19 has entered the chat*
Josh Christian LMFAO
Josh Christian I’m genuinely curious if the economy will collapse 😥😕
you picked up aluminium bread baking dish and left stainless steel dog water bowl behind which would do much better specially that you got those round covers
That store is a wreck!
You need T Paper..Think that a must
Such a brilliant upload thank you very much.
Thanks bud
It's over five thousand likes, can't wait for the video
At the dollar tree in our area, they have tarps, just a thought :)
We found tarps... But they were 4’ x 6’ . Just a touch small
you could use the bandannas as a hobo pack. Just gotta find a stick to hold it over your shoulder, in the woods those are everywhere. That said, the trashbags are still a good idea
1:00 he says "hands fee" instead of "hands free" 😂😂 I had to listen to it 3 times just to make sure that's what he actually said hahaha
I do get tongue tied sometimes.
@@DropForgedSurvival that's okay we all do sometimes 😊
Vienna sausages!!! Hell yeah. Now get the beanie weinees and saltines and a moon pie!!
Lmao 😂 Awesome! Enjoy the full series
YOU INSPIRED ME TO MAKE MY SURVIVAL KIT!!
Awesome man
Those bootleg Swiss Army pocket knives ARE worth WAY more than a buck.
Fair enough
you can sharpen a knife on a smooth rock
@@dumpsterfire3214 and I have done that.
Good video. One change.. swap the lids for a roll of aluminum foil. Still gets lids but also multiple other uses
Double bag everything at checkout for extra storage.
Good tip
I like that you are not yelling nonstop 👍
Haha 😂 Thanks
I've never seen DT isles so full. Mine always looks ransacked no matter what.
Yeah i know
