Would be cool to have a time/day stamp on images during the video. Or even exact location so those of us tracking the teams daily can understand when things went down.
Jes would be nice
Yes this would be amazing a lot of work but amazing
31/03/23 10am accent jibe later in the night main down, he says it in the vid
I am so pleased you guys are ok that was a hell of an angle to keel over. Fingers and toes crossed nothing else causes you problem and safe passage to port
I true test of the human psyche, endurance and perseverance… good luck guys
This shit is seriously insane. I have sailed a lot in my live too but this stuff is really crazy. How do you sleep and get some rest doing this days at a time. I have utmost respect for any of those sailors participating in this race !
Amazing tenacity and focus guys - and gal. Not allowing yourselves to be overwhelmed but dealing with each problem as it comes along, calmly, methodically and supporting one another is what it's all about.
Hang in there 11th Hour!!!
I feel your pain 11th Hour. This leg has been a travail, but you have improvised and adapted and I know you will overcome! Fair winds and following seas to Itajai.
Coragem.
Sabedoria e acreditar na vossa técnica.
Um abraço a todos from…
Portugal.
How cool, calm and collected they all are. Respect to a great team. Hope that bad luck goes away and that you reach destination soon.
Thinking of you and keep on keeping on. A hard one and soo proud of you all. It's awful when a main sail rips😢. You are still Amazing and wishing you safety and miracles.
Keep your heads up!
Never surrender.. You I'll find the solution
Great Job, go well and stay save!
But it is still an exciting adventure! Mind blowing! Good luck!
amazing footage. thank you.
almost there, with 2 Hobart's to go....
Man awesome sailboat handling I was stressed watching you on youtube …charge on..😅⛵️
Amazing work has to be so exhausting
That’s so fukn tough. Hang in there. You guys are doing something extraordinary.
That’s a Herculean effort! How much does that mainsail weigh?
Hang in there guys! Sending you positive energy from the Banks of a bayou in New Orleans!
I don't even know what's going on but I enjoy watching
Feel for you guys.
Ouch, hard time!
Wow heavy guys, stay save🙏
Could you have lashed the two battens together? Shortened the sail by a full panel?
You guys have been so screwed. So many mechanicals. I was really wondering how these Amicas were going to survive this race much less the Southern Ocean. And it's not over yet. God speed!
God's speed!
wondering if they junk rigged the lower main ?
Not giving up. Have to find a soln.
Did anyone else notice that on some of their winches they have the rope wrapped the opposite way around than what one normally expect of a yacht winch?
yep! done to reduce the angle entering the winch. More common on big boats.
Put a jib up in there too replace the main. Is that not possible.
Lessor crews would have thrown the towel in or at least stopped pushing - keep at it.
It's a long race yet.
How do you repair a mainsail without any rip tape?
Jack can repair anything.
He sure can!
Holy shit!
Charlie looks absolutely spent.
I was wondering how 11th Hour lost so much of its lead to Biotherm, which itself had suffered damage. Now we know.
They do not have a main sail of spare? I imagine the cost of those are incredible high, but ripping one or two over all the legs, I guess is something quite possible giving the extreme conditions of this race.
Race committee imposes limitations on sail wardrobe as cost equalisation measure
@@jameslittlewood7663 Thanks for the reply..
Teams have a certain numbers of sails they can use and this can include another main. But main sails are so big and heavy that they do not bring a spare on board.
@@TheOceanRace thanks to clarify!
Flash back to holcim😢
Poor camera guy sitting on the floor (I think) to stay safe!
As an engineer Jack is my spirit animal 🙂
Is this the ocean race??
That look of understanding nothing and impotence...
...says the greatest sailor of the world who is sailing his own IMOCA just for fun and alone... You are the best, but you know that already.
