How to Identify Grizzly and Black Bear Tracks

Do you know how to tell difference between grizzly bear and black bear tracks? Yellowstone Forever naturalist Brad Bulin recently gave us some quick tips on how you can tell them apart when out on the trail.
Even with the cold temperatures and snowfall over the last month, there still have been some reports of bears out and about. All the normal bear country hiking/travel season rules still apply. Be alert, carry bear spray and know how to use it, hike in groups, make noise.

How to tell a grizzly bear from a black bear: Sneak up behind it and give it a swift kick. If the bear climbs a tree, it's a black bear. If YOU climb a tree -- it's a grizzly!
