There is always two sides to a story. Nevertheless as a father you are suppose to be there for your children by giving them your time not your money. You failed as a father, because you stated it's okay for your sons to smoke. Your children are broken hearted because you failed to spend Quality time with them. Their actions both verbal and in deed come from Emotional pain of being abandoned by their father. It is hurtful, tremendously hurtful for children no matter what age to see their biological father give Quality time and sincere love to other children. In addition you failed to protect your daughter, That was so lame of you, with all of your money you could have Exposed the truth by any means necessary to protect your daughter. You allowed them to block you out of her life, because it was easier for you. You are a dead beat dad!

As the father, I still feel Brian is responsible here to make amends with his children. He’s not doing any favors by blatantly only acknowledging his step children and not his biological children. That’s adding salt to wounds that he probably created with his children while they were still young. Hurt adult children don’t suddenly become hurt in adulthood because of being cut off financially. Brian describing all the bad things they did sounds more personal than not getting money.
And bringing up his underage daughter’s personal situation is completely out of pocket and not protecting her at all. He said he called CPS first, not the mother, to figure out the situation. That sounds vindictive to me and not like a father trying to get to the bottom of the situation by reaching out to the mother first. Of course they blocked him after that! He went behind their back and it sounds like he didn’t even have the whole story yet, just suspicion. Why wouldn’t you call the mother first or daughter to get more information?
Yeah he sounds like a WHOLE ASSHOLE for speaking so loving about his 2nd family as if he DIDN'T HAVE THE DEPTH OF LOVE FOR HIS FIRST WIFE AND CHILDREN.

How could he just pay child support while trying to help his son with their musical career? If you look you will see that he's taken them on stage MULTIPLE TIMES. Yes, it is tragic that the family is damaged but it's really wild when the narrative is that it's just his fault. This is all happening as the kids are adults.

It usually takes 12 weeks or lesss to get a trade. They had plenty time to take up a trade and gain a new skill. I read an article saying truck driving schools have reported an increase of black women getting their CDLs and driving trucks. I have teenage cousins that braid hair, do toes and lashes for money. My lil sister did so much hair in hair school she paid for her own prom by choice. Why is it black women, teen girls can learn trades and not make excuses why they can't work?

Many parents and people who didn’t have much financial support believe that financial support automatically makes somebody a good parent, while it has nothing to do with it. Whether a person provides financial support or not, it doesn’t matter IF the parent was EMOTIONALLY and mentally unavailable to its child/children. Empathy is their number one task as a parent, and no one can make up for the lack of that with ANY kind of money!
If you heard in the beginning of the video, Brian McKnight did take care of his kids. When you are a star, you do what you can. He provided financially. I’m sure he did for his first family and kids the best he could. But to say “empathy” was an issue, come on. That wasn’t the issue. Ingratitude and disrespect are the issues. You raise boys and girls to become men and women, I’m sure of which he did. This is just entitlement and ungrateful behavior.

She said he doesn't even call her on her birthday, he doesn't respond to her text messages, and she can only reach him through a middle man. She said the type of love he shows for his step daughter is something he has never showed her. So you can focus on his kids that are adults, but his daughter also feels abandoned. Oh and it seems like he doesn't have a problem spending money on his step kids, because he bought his adult step daughter a $50k car and takes them on trips around the world. But I guess that was cool because they wants love.

@carteranimationz2897 I can agree that those were hurtful words, and ideally should not have been uttered. But to me, it's on both sides, each saying hurtful things. With them all now being adults, they each are accountable for their words. They can't say things he'd find hurtful and then complain when he does the same and vice versa. So with his wealth being his, he can choose to spend it on whoever he chooses....step kids, strangers, charities, whoever. Did he spoil them before? Unfortunately, he did big time! He is telling the TRUTH. He supported Julie (ex-wife) ENTIRE family...her brothers, parents AND her boyfriend (now husband). That whole family is MESSY minus Brian's family (the Willis family). Son has been catered to as much as his mother's family. This boy has over 100 cousins (the Willis family) and TWO involved uncles (Brian brothers) who would have been there 100% and a strong church family. I wish my sons would have had the opportunity that Brian McKnight gave his sons.My ex-husband abandoned my 2 sons when they were 2 and 3 years old and started another family. He came back and during that 6 months. I helped him get on his feet and he left again and started a third family and his stepchildren were his priority. He was not there for my sons for anything but he would post pictures of how he was there for his step children. I applaud Brian McKnight for being there for his kids and paying child support. McKnight is an excellent example of what a father should do for his kids. Money isn't everything but if you have it why not help your children until they turn 25 because that is when they graduate from college with their BA, MA or PHD and settle into their new self. Unfortunately poor kids do not get the luxury of what Brian McKnight gave his children NOT to mention the job opportunities at the hospital where his wife work. His wife is amazing to go out on a limb for her step children.

Best thing my dad did for me was cut me off. We weren’t rich, but anytime I thought I needed help (usually financially) I’d run to my dad. One day he said that’s enough and he did it without animosity. It strengthened our relationship and taught me responsibility. Good for Brian and best of luck to BJ & Niko.

As a father of 3 biological boys I understand whole heartedly his point. As fathers we pray that our children grow up to be respectful young men and women that are productive in life. I've experienced the lies and deceat of ppl that spread rumors usually to keep focus off themselves. At ages 30 and 27 they are wasting their time and life trying to ruin their dad's life when he owes them NOTHING bcuz the raising is over and they are GROWN MEN. Even so the Bible DEMANDS that we honor our parents until the day God calls them home. I pray they wake up soon and fix this problem. We only have 1 life to live and only 1 mother and father. There is zero correlation between never missing child support and being a good father. All it probably means is he didn’t want to go to JAIL. The fact that he keeps bringing up money makes me think he has zero self awareness about what it means to be a good father and attaches his value as a man to money. More than likely the fact that he has beef with 3 of his kids is a reflection of this and only time will tell if he will fall out with this new wife and set of kids. He’s probably the common denominator.
