I feel like the only true survivor is Billie, probably because Buck just wouldn't dare fight her. Plus she's not affected by the woods, and she's not from the town. She's probably back at home having no idea what happened in previous worlds.
I wouldn't be surprised if Buck did decide to just place Billie far, far away and if Billie wasn't the only person Buck decided to just peacefully remove instead of outright ending. Billie might not be the only person Stardust faced who can defend themselves and killing 999 people's gonna be pretty difficult even with immortality, considering said immortality doesn't mean outright immunity to a broken back or a bullet to the head (although this theory depends on if I understood the immortality correctly and Buck does get at least weaker through injury).

Thinking on it now, as the story progressed. Stardust and us as the audience were becoming less and less concerned with her own flesh and blood family and became more and more infatuated with Rhok’zan. From start to end, it went from, “Hey where did my ENTIRE family go!?” to “OMG Rhok’zan is home alone?!”
i mean, ig being in a time loop and having your memory comes back from previous loops would do that, especially knowing that your life is a small speck in an infinite expanse, it sure would make me move on to other things.
The problem is she started hiting on Rhok'zan minutes after first knowing her, I didn't feel like it was progressive with time, and we all forget about the family as soon as she does. I understand the 'awooga milf goat goddess titties" and all, but it just seems bland and kind of forced to me :/
@@kurotenshi8100 It's not really a problem. Please remember that in the seeding of the black Woods ritual it is stated that "any that want to destroy the woods, instead come to admire it". Aunty nyan nyan even pointed that out .Star wanted to destroy the woods and fell in love with Roxanne. Because Roxanne IS the woods. That would mean that her love for Roxanne isn't real. That is why that alternate ending is the "truth ending" and not a bad end. You realize that stars love is a lie.

The endings for this game are quite well crafted once you understand the premise Akabaka was going for. I can explain here in the comments but obviously MASSIVE SPOLIERS AHEAD!
Here is what Akabaka stated as context for both endings and their meaning: "To contextualize and explain both endings, you have: The 'true ending', which is ending up with Rhok'zan and your family and friends in a fully Black Woods'd Earth resembling Eden. This is by all accounts a 'happy ending' from Stardust's and Rhok'zan's perspective, just like ending reality through madness for a smooch is a 'happy ending' for D and Ln'eta. Everyone is alive, Buck is content and gone forever, and everyone on Earth will join the Black Woods. There are some unsettling things to notice here, like the fact that in the final CG, Stardust is revealed to be wearing the robes of The Thousand, and that the butterfly, a metaphor for Buck/Stardust, is still trapped in the spider web. Second, you have the 'truth' ending, which reveals that the Black Woods seem to be acting separately from Rhok'zan, and has been steering you throughout the game through UI elements, like your map UI, and objectives, and that Stardust has not been truly immune to all of its effects, just its lust-amplifying ones. What's more, Buck isn't the first immortal leader of the thousand, but just the latest of many who were disposed of when things soured between them and the woods. The sinister subtext of the ending is that Stardust is the new Buck, and should things sour as they did with Buck in the 'true ending', as they have hundreds of times, The Black Woods will replace her too. So the choice isn't Happy ending vs Fuck you bad ending, it's more like "You've been used by an eldritch entity far beyond you for it's own gain. This entity has killed most of your family members at one point or another across realities, and will do away with you at some point, as it has every other leader of the Thousand. Do you play along since everyone's happy right now or fight back futily?" very tough existential/Lovecraftian choice" and yes Akabaka is confirming the black woods themselves are separate from Rhokzi and she is just as much as a hostage as Stardust and her family is. It's a very sinister tragic theme that fits well with the lovecraftian horror the game tries to go for.
Truly that is quite sad, that even within the frameworks of infinity they couldn't attain a long term relationship. Admittedly such does smack of human conventions but that's the double edge of having a human author.
I suppose I don't find it sad in the eldritch way as the predominant factor for that kind of tragedy is the universe is ambivalent. Regardless of what you are you are small in relativity but this does not prevent you from finding better states if you can figure out how. The sadness here is honestly far more human scale on people not knowing themselves or others well enough to attain a god endstate in a relationship.

So the final game will be where we might finally defeat the black wood and free everyone from their own prisons be it physical, mental, existential. The theme of being trapped seems to be recurring throughout the games, so it makes sense that this may be explored further.

I like the "Good Ending" the most.
All things considered, all Rhok'zan wanted was a big happy family with the one she loved. Buck was the reason the murders started, Buck was the reason there were problems in the first place. The reason that everyone is happy, despite the hold of the Black Forest covering the entire world, is because this world, this dream, is what Rhok'zan wanted. Auntie Nyan Nyan was open with why she was goading you into burning the forest down.
"I don't like happy endings"

She wants you to destroy Rhok'zan's happiness, because she refuses to believe that good and kind humans can exist, at least in the number that would justify kindness to humanity. She wants to make sure that Rhok'zan's dream, *Muu's dream,* is nothing more than that. A dream. Something you entertain for your sleeping hours, and then you wake up and face the real world. Except she won't even allow that.
Whether it's because of her being set in her ways of livestock and butcher, or she had her own Buck, or something like it, and swore off the possibility of humans and Outer Gods coexisting happily, who knows. But with Stardust, and then with Darling, she keeps being shown that love can spring between the two.
And in the end, maybe she'll even agree with Muu, though she'll never come out and say it.
(Personally, I like the idea of her just being stuck in her ways. She's clearly quite old, given that her niece is L'neta and Estir's grandmother. It'd make sense that something so unheard of would be seen as nothing more than a child's daydream, especialy when both of the people who we've seen agree are said to be "young" and "naive" compared to her, and that she's the only one we've had introduced to be able to contact Azathoth directly.)
Also, entirely unrelated. Captain Kidd is hot in that arrogant(?) pretty boy way. I find it hilarious that out of all the fictional characters between the two games, the character who was made with the character traits "pretty" and "wants to be famous" being the forefront was the one I looked at and went "yep, that one.". Rhok'zan is my favorite, but I have a weakness to cocky pretty boys.
I can be wrong, but she might have fear of unknown. More like fear of what can come and ruins happy ending when new story/chapter is started.
No, i feel that you guys qre forgetting something... or someone, rather: azatoth (probably Azathot in this universe, Hah, gotem).
I am deadly sure that in this universe, the first dreamer fell asleep because it fell in love with someone in her (its?) Dreams and never woke up.
While Nyan is okay with that, as that is how they all exist, she is worried that most of the gods may never wake up again, deluded that they could ever live a happily ever after with their lovers in their dreams. We see this with Ln'eta, she was ready to sleep forever just to stay with darling and its only because HE took the initiative that she accepted that their love can only last a few minutes, every time, forever... but she suffers because of it, shedrew him, she told herself to remember his appearence, and likely Estir did the same, which is why Nyan stepped in, notice how here she says:"butcher and cattle" but in first date she says:"SHEPPARD and cattle". Also, she wasn't as spiteful as she was here, she was insanely cordial even.
We never really saw the very beginning of Stardust’s story. Never saw the rage and torment she felt the first time before she fell under the influence of the Black Woods. Which is probably intentional. We would’ve felt very differently if we found out early on what happened to her family before she really started loving the AllMother. There were signs in chapter one that her family were subjected to horrors beyond comprehension.
It's just the very nature of Aunty Nyan Nyan. She said it in the first game: "When humans dive into the unknown, I am the unknown that pushes back." Her very existence is basically to make humans fear the abyss, cause without it, they risk accelerating The End of All Things. That is why her presence causes people to go mad, to be filled with so much terror that they feel nothing else but the urge to flee. It is the same as Estir's nature for discord so she steals her sister's followers to break their bonds, just as it is in L'neta's nature to destroy so the world always ends when her rituals are complete. Rhok'zan has the nature of life and fertility, so she wants a big family.
Love makes humans fearless enough to pursue eldritch horrors. It's not that Aunty Nyan Nyan dislikes happy endings; it's that she doesn't care for it. Indifference is not dislike or hate. She respected Buck's tenacious ambition to inflict fear upon her family, but draws the line when he expresses desire to meet the Eternal Sleeper to wake them up. This is because it would lead to The End, which is what she is trying to delay even if it is inevitable. As for making Stardust burn it all, that is a callback to her nature of seeing Gods and Humans as leagues apart so she maintains that line; but interestingly, she still gives the choice to Stardust-just like how she gave the choice to Darling/Dearest whether he would willingly trap himself or not. She just wants an "I told you so" moment like a petty grandma, which she has already alluded to Stardust on their first encounter about teaching her nieces lessons about humans and such. She hates Muu and her ideology too (again, because love between eldritch gods and humans causes their fear of the unknown to be dulled so it accelerates The End) so she works against it.

I find it so funny the way that the one being who brought the relationships of eldritch gods and humans possible, got the attention of nyan, made all doomed realities from this and the first game, and is also causing Nyan eternal torment by the protag from the last game, is just a smut fanfic writer lmaoo
Another way of looking at it is that we are gods of the stories we write. Gods of our own daydreams. And maybe Muu just represents the minds of the writers behind these games. Writing out the different plots and possibilities.
Ours is the power to create new worlds, but never fully inhabit them. Always just out of reach.
The funny thing is, Nyarlathotep is the one that introduced the concept of worship and the gods to the mortal races. They are the one responsible for all this chain of events.

This game’s 90s dubbed anime aesthetic is so good. Think it’s my favorite for that.
Even the green skies, which I think might be a reference to how old anime (Especially DBZ and Sailor Moon) didn't have the cells(?) stored right and the colours faded, basically and so a lot of aesthetics of old anime were basically improperly cared for and are based on the faded hues (See: The Sailor Moon pinkish hue and DBZ's green skies)

My guess is both endings are canon. In one of the dreams maybe Stardust gets curious and forcefully wakes Rokhz up. She's got nothing much to lose since Rokhz will always sleep again.
The way I see it. The Truth Ending is her actual objective. To destroy the thing that ruined her life and her world. The True End is what Rok’zhan wishes the world could be.
If this is true, I think Rhok'zan would be pretty pissed, but ultimately Stardust would apologize and never do it again.

I knew that this is the prequel to the previous game. Muu talked about how humans cannot pronounce certain words but the previous game show that there is a spell for that. It is the spell that grows a mouth on your hand to read the unreadable.

Might be a bit of a cop out but since she did note just how much information she had to compile and go through to get the rituals in a book it could be that she hadn’t been able to, or just hadn’t tried to find a ritual with a reasonable “cost” that could be pronounced itself. Maybe that conversation with Star inspired Muu to find one.
I want to believe that because this is now revealed to be a PREQUEL, the true ending is the one where you embrace the new world. Otherwise, I feel like Rhok'zan would renege on her talk with her... grandkids? Anyway, she'd tell them to forget what she said about humans; they can rot, avoid them at all costs. Because that didn't happen, I wanna say that the "good" ending is the true ending, while the "truth" ending is more about Nyan's greater beliefs or something.
Or perhaps that, because of the nature of the dark woods (desire to destroy becomes desire to worship it yadayada), everything is changed and distorted in order to achieve that goal. The reason, again, perhaps, the "True" ending is so colorful and bright (as opposed to the beginning chapters, which are a more "un-biased" view of the woods) is because the deception has rooted itself deeply in the protagonist's brain; The fact that there is a discrepancy in the ending titles ("True" being the perceived title, against Good, the actual title) is a huge context clue, with "True" being the deception, convincing the protagonist that this is the only ending, that this is the correct ending, that this is the only way to go, with the Good title being the true nature of it. The madness of the dark woods has become "good" to the protag, the deception has become the truth, the destroyer, the worshiper. The one that sought to end a great evil was manipulated by it, deceived by it, changed in mind and form, and all done in such a subtle, ominous manner that encapsulates well how the most reasonable can be corrupted.
None of which is actually a refutation of anything you just said, I now realize, I'm just adding some midnight ramblings.

I like to think of it as a parallel universe thing. L'neta's dream and Rokhzan's Dream as separate dreams.

Really surprise you didn't go in on the truth ending. That segment was a punch to the gut when I first saw it. Really hard to think that she's just constantly making immortal peeps after that whole love you speech Rhok'zan had. Straight up felt genuine. Also, love that they went in on the horror aspect but still believe it would have benefited from like two more chapters to really drive home the Rhok'Star ship.
Yeah, I feel like there were less romance or flirting parts than the previous games. It could do a little better. Maybe more in-between scenes for light hearted or aggressive actions between Rhok and Star.
I also think the Truth End is interesting. Are more humans immortal because Rhok Zan doesn't want to be alone/have people forgetting the good memories they made? That is possibly why Billie, Kidd, and Nanni remember Stardust.
In the best case scenario, only 10 people (on the screen of Truth End) became immortal. Worst case, all humans become immortal. Either way, they all burned and probably suffered from burning. And will appear in the next dream horribly disfigured like Buck. Sure it's the truth, but Stardust will just become like Buck. Hurting others out of jealousy, except this time the pain to others is irreversible through immortality. We know Stardust would accept Rhok San, even if Rhok San loved other people. I think it's a good match for them both because they are so open and unwilling to hurt others (even throughout 1000 life times)
The issue is, it isn't clear whether it was a platonic or romantic Immortal Kiss ritual given to everyone else. It kind of ruins the whole premise between Rhok Zan and Stardust. Unless we interpret "goddess of lust and fertility" to mean Rhok Zan seducing every human and kissing all of them. Or we could wave it off as her wanting them to be immortal "out of love and kindness". But things will get messy everytime she wakes up from a dream. People are going to go insane I guess.
All in all, a very vague and open ended -- ending. Still very fun to watch though!
Tbh I think it was genuine. Rhok’zan did already mention before that multiple ppl were made immortal in that way, but they couldn’t take it and didn’t stick around for long except for buck, plus she’s the goddess of fertility and seduction so she was pretty open from the beginning that she’s done it before. It was pretty good story telling. Will say though, Buck really does look like the guy from the first one, when not fully maimed from over 1k worth of reality damage.
Ya I debated if protag was a reincarnation of Buck or something with dyed hair who learned better timing of when to Smooch but it's more likely he's just the Anti Protag, a what if they were cynical and went for the smooch and power rather than just keeping pure smooch intentions.

If you wonder what your character looks like, according to the actual Canon of the real mythos, she'll look just like her mother, and only one daughter of shub is usually found in anyone given world.
I think Good End is the "True End" in the sense of what is canon and continues to the timeline of the first game. Truth End implies that it may be the inevitable, how there will be an End of All Things just like Aunty Nyan Nyan said to Darling/Dearest in the first game. She works to delay it, of course, as is her purpose and nature as a god. It is the literal "truth" of the universe in contrast to how the previous chapters have a TRUE END which is the label for what should be treated as canon. Rhok'zan will wake up at one point and even that happy dream will end, but Stardust has the capability to do it on her own terms by burning it down. Whichever route she picks, the ones whom have been made immortal will scatter across the universe until the next dream...and that too is another truth that Nyan Nyan showed Stardust.
The sequence of the texts speaking to Stardust with the bell chimes might be both Muu and Nyan Nyan, two influences fighting against each other. One is cynical by calling Stardust a replacement for Buck, while the other is encouraging her to turn back and go outside to meet those waiting for her. My main curiosity: who is HIM when the texts asked, "Why are you following him?" Did that just mean she was making the same mistakes as Buck? Or was there another eldritch god whom had collaborated with Nyan Nyan to draw Stardust into burning down the Black Woods?
I'm sure it's been mentioned before but i love that the enemy names are different kinds of goats: Nanny goat, Billy Goat, Kid (baby goat) and buck (male goat)

Comparing the two game, it's a simple case of two cakes. The comedy and alien horror was far better in the first but this made for a better gameplay and scenario. Also spent a good hour trying to get through that sealed door and was hoping you figured it out.

Buck really created a scenario where Stardust would be chased by an army of angry yanderes. The loops went on for so long he thought that yanderes was his best option. Love how close Rhok'zi got with Stardust. Eliminating a thousand people one per universe. I dont know why but the song they were blasting during the chrysalis it sounded like the little butterfly song mashed with an anime opening and idol song cause it was so far in the distance to me at least . Buck really not looking as hot as he did at the start of the game. Kidd was hot. I like that we got to see the true Muu. Cool design. I like drawing shoggoth myself. I love the affect on her voice. I like that her inspiration for her doujins comes from actual events lol. Especially the fact that she atches the universes loop like an anime. Its kinda fun how a human made and wrote a game about humans getting it on with and eldritch outer god deity where and eldritch horror is doing the exact same thing. I think the tags were spot on. Buck totally smooched early. Too bad the immortality he got accidentally turned him mad, but that was probably because he didnt get a proper smooch. At least he started seeing that theres way more things out there. Sometimes after a bad break up, a little tug to get you moving forward can do wonders.
Its interesting that its a prequel, Aunty nyan nyan didnt get her smooch yet. I think Buck was talking about Azathoth. I think, i need to catch up on all that stuff. Itd be cool to see them, they were one of the outer gods i liked drawing on my own. I wonder of they will be in the next game.
I guess one thing i really like about these games is that everything you see is pretty much a candy coated hallucination, even the scary parts, as its your mind trying to put broken reality back together. Which we see a clear picture of in the Truth ending. On the other hand the true ending looks great and the outer gods wake up and go to bed a lot. I do like the eldritch horror animals. Neat touch. I did love the direction for this game. Art and music top tier. Spray bottle stronger than cosmic beings.
Yes, he was indeed talking about azatoth. Nyan has a direct line of communication to him, and technically all the gods were created from his thoughts (aka dreams), if he were to "wake up" that would destory everything, and presumably someplace a butterfly would wake from a very confusing dream

The good/true ending is likely the canon ending given Stardust’s personality or the message she conveys at least to Buck. Either that or Stardust ends up completing the same good ending too many times and gets sick of it? With the truth ending it more so indicating that goat mommy’s woods will always be dark. She wants a lot of children she’s not one to be exclusive to just one human. The kiss of immortality ends up being granted to many others being goat mommy ends up dreaming about over time.

- if you "go forth and multiply", you gain superhuman powers and increased lifespan, though no-one managed to tolerate more than about 125 years of this before offing themselves, and you don't exist between Dreams.
- if you do the true love's kiss Ritual, no takesies-backsies on persisting across Dreams, and any offing attempt would just damage your unkillable vessel.
Either Buck suffered so much that he doesn't even bother curing himself anymore, or he actually can't do it because his Cosmic Permanence technically makes any alterations from previous realities part of his true form in the current one.

Tbh the biggest nightmare comes from viewing it as "gods" as humans and "humans" as collection of thoughts, feelings and memories that lucid dreamer aka Roxanne interacts with. And here comes the scary part, Buck is consistent. Consistent. Not recurring like traumatic memory or fetish, but constant. If you view humans as neurons, then Buck is brain cancer. If you view them as thoughts, then he is split personality disorder. The "I'll haunt dreams of other too" part make him de facto Freddy Krueger. Or demon. Or airborne version of rabies. To the gods of the setting.
Buck could be a Prion analogy wise as that would let him both stick around, affect other stuff and spread himself

I love the Truth ending so much. For the implication that the floating figures represent. They're the same as when you're floating in the void, other immortals that have gone through exactly what you're going through, people that have also developed a relationship with Rha'xie. You'll live forever, but her love for you may not be eternal.
Or it's that we may see more playable protagonists.

That said, the Truth ending may be not canon, but it's a reveal of the truth to us, the Player, not to Stardust. Judging by Stardust's character (especially with her attitude towards Buck), she would not burn the forest. She would willingly accept that was written in the book, because she chose to follow it. She doesn't have anyone to prove a point to. Especially not to Nyan Nyan.
The truth ending is a classic bad ending that shows an outcome that teases lore implications, but doesn't need to be canon. But even if it was canon, the writers can decide to tie it altogether as some what if multiverse thing. It could be that this is the version of stardust in Nyan's dream.
It's fairly implied that Rokhz is being genuine, because it's backed up by Muu.
@@thesidneychan Umm... If remember first game: Good ending is canon, so as the Truth ending, so as Kiss of immortality applies to protag of the first game after he gets a smooch from L'neta in the end of normal route. Plus, L'neta knows about Muu and her tricks about "dating necronomicon".

And looking. Looking for the one human who could make her eternally happy. More and more eternally bound people, and you have to watch each and every new face appear in the void.
I know she ain't the god of "taking things slow" but I really wish we'd had more opportunities to get to know goat mommy. I feel like not playing out any of the loops between 2 and 999 cuts the character building too short while skipping to the good bits. It was nice, but I got far more attached to ln'eta from the last one

She's definitely furry appearance wise but the combination with supernatural powers and origin detaches her from the "regular animal that talks" aspect and more so connects her with the "intelligent monster" aspect. And besides, one of the main differences between the ways furry and monster girl are used in practice is how they are (or aren't) people; furries are animals with personhood, while monster girls are monsters with intelligence and some human appearance, and the whole plot here revolves around the fact that Rhok'zan is not a person but a higher being, compared to stardust, so she's well qualified for both roles

So... Anyone else realize that Buck's killed at LEAST 499,500 people over the (at least) 1000 dreams?
And that'd only be counting the Thousands, not the regular people.
I think the final two endings is interesting. It's dichotomy, but for two things, not just one:
1. First is the dichotomy between defiance and embracing. If you go along with the good ending, you're doing exactly what they say you would do, and are you okay with that? Playing exactly into someone else' intention? ... Although I'd say true freedom is when one may both deny AND accept. If you can only do one thing, then that's not really freedom, IMO. In a sense, Nyarlathotep is trying to control us in that final act, by using our pride/defiant nature, so you're playing into someone's hand either way.
I think the most important thing, is to do what you REALLY want, rather than doing something for the sake of some sort of nature (such as to rebel for rebelling's sake) or to appear as something to others... Although YMMV. I suppose, for some people, being seen as a something might be the _be_ the point, so, who am I to say otherwise?
2. Second is between truth and happiness. This one will probably be a lot more controversial... but the truth is, sometimes truth won't necessarily lead to happiness. My personal take is, if a dream is the only reality you know and can truly interact with, then isn't it simply reality? It's like a video game character trying to escape their game-- that doesn't mean they will get to see the outside world. Ending the game simply means they all cease to exist. In that case, wouldn't their world simply be their reality? They can try to "come outside" or try to "interact with us", but in the end, those are simulation as well. Someone needs to program it... at least, until AI gets far enough and they can start doing things without needing someone to program in every single thing. But, you know, I think that's also how Skynet from the Terminator and AM from "I Have No Mouth, and I Must Scream" are created.
But maybe some people will be happy with knowing and spreading the truth alone, but my other take is that, we would be able to spread the truth better if the dream continues? Many of the in-game characters know that they're simply dreamt up by eldritch beings, so they CAN know the truth anyway.
Although maybe that will lead to people who want to free everyone from the dreams (ala Buck), but... that's just possible video game plot points for the future lol. And the choice is here, if you want to be the one who (attempts) to end the dream yourself. In the end, the only way to get everything to end is for all of them to be awake at the same time, but I think... they'll go back to sleep eventually, and they'll probably dream of the same (or similar) thing, so... I think ending all the dreams might actually just be another temporary solution-- no matter how often they wake up, they'll go to sleep again, carrying their memory.
I think the closest way the characters in this world can get to "ending it all", is making all of the outer gods forget their dreams-- realities will exist when they dream again, but at least it'll be a true fresh start-- no carryovers (because no one remembers anything). That, or make sure that the outer gods can literally never sleep ever again, and that doesn't sound possible lol.
But ultimately, I don't think many people would pick the ending for truth's sake... It is there though, if someone wants to do it, not for defiance's sake, but for truth's sake, and maybe that's what makes them happy.
3. Although the truth is... I'm willing to bet "for curiosity's sake" is the main reason why people get the "Truth Ending" lol. Not because they believe that's the right thing to do (or what they personally want to do), or believe that it'll be better for everyone (in the game), but they just want to see what happens. (And in Manly's case, getting all endings is something he generally does.)
Personally I wouldn't bother trying to see this ending... (I actually wanted to skip that part, NGL. I'm one of those people who never watched a genocide run of Undertale.) But I get the allure of the curiosity. I really do lol. (I didn't skip in the end.)
(And remember, I'm not trying to criticize anyone-- I'm just pointing out some merits and demerits of certain ideas that I can think of, is all. Feel free to disagree or agree. I don't expect many people to read my wall of text in the first place too.)

As for how the "sequels" would work... I'd say it's just the other eldritch gods' reality? To be fair, the world in the good ending, probably isn't the world Lneta and Estir dream up. I think the good ending in this game is just Rhokzy's own dream world... Might need a lot of handwaving to make this work lol... Supposedly, each and every eldritch god's dream sustains the reality (hence "reality", assuming if it's singular, won't end as long as someone's asleep)... but then again, Buck and Stardust is thrown to the void a bit after Rhokzy wakes up, so... yeah. I have to say that the Blackwoods is probably self-contained dimension/reality in itself, or, it's kind of a plot hole, I guess. And as for why Lneta and Estir gets a shared reality-- I'll just handwave and say it's because they're close to each other. (And Aunty Nyan Nyan gets to go everywhere because she's extra powerful.)
(Or maybe, the Truth Ending is the canon ending? Although it can't be, since I think someone-- Lneta?-- said that Rhokzy in fact has the biggest influence among all the outer gods in the First Date game... also it's awfully sad, if backstabbing was the canon ending. I'm not sure if that's what the devs would go for.)
Or, you know, I'm just overthinking at this point. It's possible the devs just simply didn't think that far in when they made the first game lol. We don't really have to act like everything is already considered from the start.
But yeah, great game. I like it.
Supposedly both endings are true with Truth implicating Rokzi will tire of Stardust as others attained the immortality ritual before Buck. Though honestly I find that needlessly pessimistic when we already saw pretty clear methods to ameliorate such a pattern and the "tire" of factor seeming more a personal failing from a lack of communication mkre than anything else.

And the reason we didn't see them before was because Rhokzy hid that away? (And thus she was really pretending to have trouble vs. Buck? Now I think about it, I can't really explain those floating bodies (I completely glossed over that because I didn't think they had significance), so I can see why people would latch onto that.
But yeah, probably too pessimistic for this dev-- this dev seems pretty idealistic, so I don't think that's really what they intended either. I think there are just a lot more oversights than at first glance. The message of the game is pretty clear, and I think the interpretations that favor the message of the game are more likely to be true.
OR, perhaps, it's the thing about, "if you look for despair, you'll find despair, and if you look for hope, you'll find hope", so, kind of like giving the player what they want, if they at the end, still deem what Rhokzy is doing evil or questionable. Technically every reality exists, so.
@@aquablast3155 I assume it was to indicate that similar to Buck they didn't seek out other things and so just stayed in the void between dreams. Still nonplussed about that explanation given the actual potential for infinity and variation in the dreams and localities Rhozhi may make and experience with Stardust though. May be due to me thinking on implications of true infinity being a potential thing here with actual variation possible as well on multiple levels.

I looked it up, Michaela laws played the Demo and she said "Your 'AVATAR' is adorable" because she was assuming Muu might be something bigger than a Shoggoth (Which are artificial creatures made as servants to the Elder Things), like for instance being Yog Sothoth (The key to the gate, the keeper of the gate, the gateway itself)

In the beginning of the game, Stardust makes the joke that there was three different types of partners: Platonic, Romanic and Cowgirl
Later in the game, the three main people we meet that best show this is Rhok'zan, Nanni and Muu
Rhok'zan: Romantic partner (obviously)
Nanni : Platonic Partner. She even says that had circumstances been different, we would have been friends

However much of a monster he is, i cant help but feel a bit impressed by a previously mortal man so filled with spite he tries to torture the gods untill they accidentally end all realities.
This was such an amazing vid, thx manly. Stardust is an absolute goat(pun intended) and it's also heartwarming when you factor in the events of sucker for love 1 when Lneta and Estir are much older and want to experience love for themselves, it means Stardust's and Rhokzan's relationship really has been lasting for eternity's so much so that the two of them want to see what it's like. Also Muu is so damn relatable😭 Auntie Nyan Nyan is an opp tho she needs a human in her life
I love this sequel. I understand why someone would prefer the first game for multiple reasons, but it's a strong experience. Props to the dev for wanting to make something distinct from the first, so both games stand on their own. It's hard to say which is better; the sequel expands on the rituals in a great way, the casts are quite different from each other. All I know is that I can't wait to see what the third game has to offer.
Also, Ln'eta still Best Girl.
Genuinely, such a lovely game with such a lovely message. I wish I could make such comedic concepts, and turn them into something so profound and utterly beautiful.

Ah thank you for playing this and thank you for your insight! I actually adored the dynamic presented in this one; to be able to see the contrast between a relationship between eldritch god and human go sour (Buck) and go sweet (Stardust) really shows the versatility of man's relationship with the great beyond, and that it doesn't always have to be a terrible, horrible mess. (Though dear GODS a mess was made in the other realities). Once you get past all the horrors, there's like an ominous beauty to the end, and seeing everyone so happy and sharing their lives together made getting through all the horrors worth it. At least that's my humble little onion (opinion)!

Honestly the good ending is just the true for me, why be an asshole and destroy everything? Is like in fallout, work all the story against the enclave but at the last second "uhh nah bombard my friend and belovers!"
The truth ending is just for the fun of nyan nyan, the good ending is for the fun of Roxanne and everyone (yeah i won't write her eldric name because i refuse even just to see it one more time)..
Only one thing, roxxane know she can't have a family with our stardust, at least in the traditional way.
What an awesome story. I was really impressed by the original and the sequel managed somehow to top it. Amazing narration by Manly-- Akabaka should seriously consider giving you some voiceover work!

Unlike with the first game. We never got to see the very beginning of Stardust’s story. Which is probably intentional. That Truth ending made it sound like she and Buck would’ve actually worked together if the woods didn’t make her forget her *actual* objective.

I have to agree with you, this game is different compared to the first one I watched you play. I personally like the first one because it is more of dating sim and your focus is on dating the outer gods. This one feels more like an adventure and the focus is more on the protagonist, the enemies you face and bring to your side till you eventually rescue the princess at the end, the princess being the mother goat that is.
I just reallized that we not only have an asexuall character...
But we're also forming a proper *romantic* bond with the deity this time

I want to see someone make some kind of fanmade animated sitcom (or fanfiction) where a guy (maybe D), becomes a cosmic pimp and all these gods (and Muu), live under the same household together and everything is treated like a sitcom. I can even imagine Auntie Nyan Nyan essentially taking the role of the mother-in-law stereotype in terms of personality and human racism.
The idol music reminds me a LOT of Macross Delta. The main vocalist even sounds like Freyja.
I kinda had a feeling it was a prequel since the reveal of Muu; she said the human x eldritch god stuff has never happened before, until Stardust, which could only mean this took place before our previous protagonist's story. Started off kinda silly, but it's actually kind of heartwarming/melancholic, which I'm guessing is what it's going for with the 90's anime aesthetic. I wonder if there's some connection between Buck and the previous protagonist.
When I hear Rhok'zan screaming, the song "Holding Out For A Hero" plays in my head.

Ooh, I enjoyed this much more than the first. I do agree that Rhokzywokzy became a damsel maybe too quickly, while I'd have preferred a little more spice or conflict between her agenda and the MC's. Although it was pretty funny to have her appear and immediately go "oh fuck yes banish me".
It seemed like we acquired a ton of mutations, similarly to the MC of the first game, but we were largely prevented from seeing them. While that fits with Rhok's overall gimmick, I think the game would benefit from just a few more accidental glimpses behind the veil. There's genuine horror in the concept of the woods preventing us from seeing anything wrong while in reality we're burning to death or being a horrific goat-monster. A little more playing with that would be really cool.
Part of why I loved this is that I am a SUCKER (hehe) for time loops. We're really lucky Buck is an absolute idiot and couldn't think of a better plan after A THOUSAND LOOPS than "invite girls over and play some music".
The hidden final choice was cool, and there's a lot to explore in the lotus-eating-vs-realism-and-suffering ethical dilemma, but it didn't go into that much depth. I did like the callback to all the "you can never meaningfully leave the woods" and "everyone ends up worshipping the woods" warnings, but I didn't really see any advantage to burning down the veil, considering that everything pretty much SUCKS that way.
Ace rep is cool to see. A queerplatonic relationship seems cool, even if it is with a babymakin'-humpin' goddess. And Stardust's attitude to immortality matches mine. Screw all that "ooh no it's a cuuuurse uwu" stuff. That's a skill issue plain and simple.

yeah i also wish the game was a little more clear with what the true/truth endings really meant, at present none of the theories i'm reading are really doing it for me and i think it would've been more impactful if the game told me directly instead

I love how the ending implies that it's a prequel. About the endings, keep in mind, the other endings say "true ending" while that one says "truth ending." So that doesn't necessarily mean that it's the "true" ending. It's just Auntie Nyan Nyan trying to tell you "the truth," and we already know how she feels about humans and eldritch gods being romantic partners. These endings give me Undertale vibes, not only because of how tearjerkingly happy it is, but how you can also choose to fuck it up at the last minute (either by doing a true reset or genocide if you've already done it in a previous playthrough). Speaking of Undertale, the concept of one human going through multiple realities for one person, who coincidentally happens to be a goat monster (either for romance or in the example that I'm about to bring up, out of sympathy and friendship), reminds me of the Dreemurr Reborn series where the concept was that Frisk, in a metaphor for essentially the entire fanbase, goes through endless true resets to try to find a way to save Asriel, and after an eternity, finally succeeds by sacrificing they're soul for Asriel (but Frisk is not really dead, they're still inside Asriel since his soul is now half human, half monster).
Update: I just read a comment about Akabaka's explanation for the two endings, and now I'm depressed. I can’t wait for a “How Sucker For Love: Date to Die For manipulates you,” video with the thumbnail saying “NOT A HAPPY ENDING!”
Surprised at how wholesome the ending was. The type of ending that is almost unheard of in a game about mass death, mind control, sadistic torture, and horrific monsters.
I loved it! But unfortunately, there’s actually more to the endings according to the creator. When I read the comment in this video talking about his explanation of the endings, I felt like I was in the denial stage of grief.
I love the 80s anime aesthetics that these games have now, it was always bubbly and cute but this is what it was missing!
