The sophistication and depth of these corps is absolutely stunning. It's getting to the point where all twelve corps are so crisp, so visually arresting, with such powerful brass and drum lines, such strong stories and emotions, it's getting freaking crowded at the top!
Yep. This the year Blue Knights changed direction and I've loved everyone of their productions since then. The put out some emotional show especially this one.. made me shed a couple tears...
Bluecoats still has the best closer I have ever seen. I don't care if the pitch bend was synth. That fucking crowd reaction is so damn loud that you can barely hear the horns over the cheering. Fan fucking tastic.
Hunter Johnson Whilst it was done on the synth (and as an old fart, I should hate this but don't)... it was actually the Bluecoats hornline in the midi sample and the note was bent by hand so the performer had to judge it by ear... killer show though...
Hunter Johnson I think you can actually hear the mixing that the production team at DCI did on the recording because the crowd cheering swells significantly once the corps cuts off. They had to turn the audience down post-production, and I think that's amazing.
I remember watching them in Indy. And you are NOT lying when you say that crowd reaction was insane. My memory of watching them was slight clapping here and there for the first nine minutes. Then that closer came up, BAM! Everyone lost it. I had never seen a crowd react like that before to something like that.
It seems like this was a year of new for dci. 1st, because of how many corps changed uniforms (Madison, Boston Crusaders, Blue Knights, Phantom, Crown, vanguard, and Blue Devils!). 2nd, the fact that Bluecoats set a record score for themselves, AND Blue Devils set the all time world record. What a great year for dci!
no. I wish I did know. I actually didn't care for their uniforms this year. I would be happy to see them go back to an all white uniform, like the one from "into the light. "
I KNOW, the uniform only looked good with the show they did. Unless they do a show next year that matches they're uniform style, then I think Phantom will go even farther downhill.
They have posted the uniforms now if y'all haven't seen them. The Corps is all white with a golden right sleeve, and a gold and black sash. And their plume is white with black tips. The DM is the same, but just all black without a golden sleeve, and his plume is all black.
Honestly, I'm so happy I got to be in one of these videos. This was my first year in a top 12 drum corps and I feel like I got to participate in the way I got into drum corps. I saw the 2008 video and fell in love with this activity and wanted to be in one of these videos SO bad. To get to be in it, especially the last FULL one is bittersweet. I wish these were still being made because these made the activity accessible for me as a new person. Thanks for these JeremyBugles
One of the absolute best set of clips ever. My fav….Bluecoats spectacular close at 19:00… That was the definition of “Drop the mic…” Thanks for all the work on this!
As a long time follower of your video work, each year I try to remember to say thank you for your 'best moments' video - I can't imagine how much time and effort goes into the final product...but we all appreciate it. Great job, and thanks again!
Jennis Thomas I agree with these guys. You can't convince me that Blue Coats' closer wasn't the best this year. The stadium was on fire. Babies were flying left and right.
Honestly, definitely my favorite show that year, and probably of all time, was That One Second. I just can't get over how deep and emotional and meaningful it was, not to mention how far BK had come that year. Plus the stories I've read about how it was taught show that this is truly art, and not just a competition. Instead of drilling it into the kids heads to play what they had written, they asked the kids how they think would be the best way to communicate those emotions to the audience, and asked them to play it that way. I just love every aspect of that show.
back in 79-81 I was a member of the Malden Diplomats Drum & Bugle corp and that was the best time of my life. I thought that being a part of DCI was so exciting..seeing all the people in the stands listening and watching us perform. I miss those days but I can still see the other great corps perform and work their magic at DCI. Keep up all the great work all of you drum corp members you are doing great!
I've watched this video 50 times today, keep up the great work!!! I've been following you since 2007 and have never been disappointed by one of your videos. You introduced me to drum corps and I have been a die hard participant and fan ever since '07, thanks JermeysBugles your the best!!!!!!!
I so appreciate these posts. Was a huge DCI fan back in the late 70's............really. I love the effort each and every corps puts up since I know the work they put into their show.
I have to say, this year is possibly one of the best compilations you have, not because of how you set it up entirely, but because of the shows. I now have a playlist of all of the 'best of' videos you have made, all the way to 2003 - Love it!
I love Jeremy's finals series and this year is no exception!:-> The time he spends putting the clips together is greatly appreciated. Favs this past season - BLUUUUUUUUUU! BAC! SCV! Cadets! Crown!
***** I'm 19 and I'm marching Cincinnati Tradition, and I'll agree its not the same, but I get to work with two instructors that work/have worked with DCI world class, and Rochester is got to be one of the most fun trips to go on!!!
I have to say, awesome job with the editing and the video. I only have one minor critique though....we all know you have a Phantom bias, which is perfectly reasonable, but in the 2014 best moments, you really should have ended with Bluecoats' ending. That alone was the greatest moment in 2014, especially for those of us remembering it live. I am not speaking from my personal bias but from the reactions of the crowd, it was priceless. Anyway, please keep up the great work and I look forward to 2015!
I think that there were better spots in the Bluecoats to highlight (ie the opening hit, the screamer duet, the hit in the ballad, and the tuba feature in the closer), you also entirely missed the cavies ballad, and also the Blue Stars saber toss
Seriously thank you for this each and every year. I love that is closes with Phantom, but I mostly love how you shed some overdue light on corps that often become overshadowed. Not saying they are fantastic, but Boston, Scouts, and Blue Knights deserve more air time... all the time. I really forgot how amazing the crusaders show was last year. I hope this year proves just as enjoyable. Can we see the Troopers in the finals this year? I think so... :)
I got to practice with the Phantom Regiment for this routine. I still have all the videos of them training and everything. Best expirence I've ever had 😍😍😍
2014 was a godmode year for all DCI years. To be honest, probably one of the #1 best years DCI has had with the experience from all DCI Bands from then. Insane blessing from this year!! 😅
Really impressed with the Boston Crusaders….Still partial to The Phantom Regiment and Santa Clara Vanguard, however. Good to know the spirit of DCI still lives on after all these years!!!
It's been two years now, but I just now figured out that the Orange tarp around the field during the Bluecoats performance was them tilting the field. And that their drill was tilted too
TheKingLunar video really doesn't do DCI any justice at all. I went to the Southwestern championship last week and it was way louder and the actual vibration made it a way different experience
The way I've heard That One Second described as is that it's like receiving the book of your life. The opener is when you first receive it, and you're skimming through it. The ballad is when you slow down, and start reading in depth about what it's saying. The next part is reading the bad parts, such as the parts where you felt extreme sadness and/or anger. The closer is when you finish the book, and accept the story for what it is.
HA! You think we didn't see you, but we did! The Cavalier soprano at 17:09 right on top of the 50 yard marker checks the bill on his hat. Gotcha sucka! What a typical Cavalier.
2014 really was an excellent season.
Truly the best season in dci history
@@rojosiah307 Definitely one of my favorites

Channel Three I aged out in 92... I can honestly say that any one of these corps down to about 8th would have walked finals in my day.
Channel Three Yeah you don't gotta tell me bro, I had to watch from the top.
0.1..... Age out Rage out right? -_-

Channel Three CROWDED AT THE TOP? Perhaps that's because DCIs management of the activity has eliminated MOST of "the bottom"
Rewatching this and I just realised something... HOLY SHIT... BLUE KNIGHTS WERE REALLY GOOD!

Thank you for actually taking the time and effort of finding clips instead of lazily compiling DCI's videos like JayTee Kay did.
No Bluecoats snare splits? No Appalachian Spring? I can tell you're a brass guy...still a fantastic video. Well done.
Hahahaha I feel you
Btw those 2014 snare hand to hands are so clean and incredible!!
At 16:16 it is illegal to look that bad-ass while playing that instrument

its the synth. Its not pitch bend

Fantastic... but cmon, blue knights brass hit FOLLOWED BY VANGUARD SCHEHERAZADE LOW BRASS HIT!! AHHH
This was my first year knowing and watching Drum Corps, and it was so special.
I'm happy that you put the Blue Knights opening impact in the beginning, its literally my favorite moment in dci 2014 next to Fellini's Circus! :D
2 years later and It still is
Nice job editing this video! I really like the parts you chose for Boston. I loved their show this year!
