- The NFP alliance on the left became the largest force in the French parliament, but did not secure an absolute majority in a surprising outcome that saw the far-right National Rally (RN) drop to third place.
The NFP won 182 seats in the 577-seat parliament. President Emmanuel Macron’s centrist alliance won 163 seats, and the RN won 143 seats.

Of course they did. Think back to the first election between these two. Overseas voters - mostly Macron supporters - 'accidentally got two lots of voting slips in the post. There were half a million overseas voters so Macron's total had a major boost. At the same time thousands of postal voting slips with Le Pen's name on had been 'spoiled' and could not be used by the recipients. It was said at the time it would 'be investigated' but never heard another word about it.
Seems like Macron has several tricks up his sleeve. Way past time for another French Revolution .

What happened was just pure tactical voting against an unpopular Conservative government and I do accept that it's not a good electoral strategy in the long-term. The sad thing is that it's not entirely the voters. In terms of vote share in this second round, Lepen got ~36% (~10,000,000), Left Alliance got ~25% (~7,000,000) and Macron got ~24% (~6,800,000) of votes. Its the flawed electoral system which has the top three results reversed when it comes to seats won and therefore power.
And it won't be non-European migrants on boats, it'll be moderate French escaping a situation where both wings grow more radicalized against each other. No further doubt about it, France is ready to re-enact the Spanish Civil War and destabilise the entire English Channel by doing so.
But we can't blame them for it, right? It's France. They have a long history of violence and bloodthirst when it comes to politics. And they embrace that trait. Only France could be counted on to upheave their own state so messily.
We think it's bad in Britain but compared to France the UK is like a calm and civilised Country - which it definitely ain't!
