DC DMV Road Skills Test New Deanwood Test Center

- Exploring the Deadwood DMV Test Routes. The typical route seems to exit the rear gate of DMV to Olive Street NE, turn right on Eastern Avenue, turn right on Minnesota Ave, turn left on Quarles St, which merges onto 49th St NE, turn right onto Sheriff Road NE, turn right on Nannie Helen Burroughs Ave, then right again on Kenilworth Ave NE (the frontage road) back to the testing center. There are several parallel parking spaces in the DMV parking lot that appear to be used to test that skill.

Do they make you parallel park outside parking lot or they have a space in the parking to parallel park?
I took my road test yesterday and passed with flying colors. They will make you parallel park first, then you will go out on the road, which is literally about 2 blocks (2-5 mins of driving) and then you are done. Be confident, and follow the road signs, use your signals. I used the video “DC DMV PARALLEL PARKING” to help learn the method to parking. GOOD LUCK, YOU GOT THIS !

Did they ask u questions before starting the parallel parking like where stuff is located in the car or no???
@@kerrimichelle5238 nope, they just instruct you parallel park first.
@@kerrimichelle5238 if you a driving your own vehicle and not theirs you will have to go out and do the inspection of the car. The most they asked was get in the car and start it up and roll the window down. You will have to back out of the parking space where you park your own vehicle.

My test was this morning at 10am. I was super nervous. Passed it ! Tip one : Be confident and keep your hands on the wheel, watch the signs, you should be fine. You all got this 💪

@@xochitlgranados2060 no it was a 10-15min drive. You should practice in the area. Tons of constructions. But i heard from May 1st they are adding parallel parking. Try to book it before the end of April if you are not comfortable with parallel parking.

Thx for this video. I went last week for my road test. The parallel parking was a little tricky cuz the barrels are so low. But I got it on my second attempt. The actual road test is a breeze. Just pay attention, keep hands on the wheel and pay attention to speed limit signs. Good luck

I take my test tomorrow 6/1! I am a little nervous but I'm going to watch this video all day and head to the Deanwood testing site to get a feel of the area!

Took and passed test today first try. Easy. Parallel parking space is huge. Just make sure you roll all the way back to the curb, it’s a very deep spot. Also I used a DMV vehicle and surprisingly they do let you use those backup cameras while doing parallel parking. So just focus on being straight and close to the curb, and of course, not hitting the cones which is instant fail.
Stay calm, use signals for every maneuver, check mirrors and over shoulder, try to stick to your lane when doing those tight turns in this neighborhood.

@@TrxpKevo No I arrived in a family member’s car. I was in the passenger seat.
Had to use a third party plus pay for the DL applicant fee ($187) but, just took my road test today and passed. This is probably 1 out of X amount of routes that they'll take you on at the center. Instead of making a right on Eastern Ave, I had to make a left. Parallel parking is the first task you'll have to do at the DMV center if it's not crowded. If you know how to turn, use your mirrors, know when to brake, watch your surroundings, and pay attention you will pass. Good luck and relax to those that haven't receive their DL yet and are reading this.

Don't be too anxious. I took this test on the same day he uploaded it. It's super easy. Just make sure you stop well at stop signs, maintain speed, check mirrors. Parking it easy since the lot is slanted. Good luck

Practice your parallel parking they only give you three chances but and then, they only get you two blocks far from the dmv, I was nervous but I passed it! You all don’t be afraid.

@@ngale7107 as long as it’s not during business hours it have to be when they close for business to be honest that’s how I learned the parallel park going out at 2-3am learning and practicing for a hour or so.

I took my test yesterday and failed. But, I am going to take it again next week. The parallel parking is what I had a problem with. I didn't hit no cones, got into the parking space, but I didn't park closer to the curb. I had a female instructor (RUDE) she was!!!!!

@@laneymeyer1992 yes! That’s the first thing they make you do. They give you 3 attempts to do so and if you’re successful, then you do the road test and then you come back and get your license.

As far as I know, it’s legal to make a right on red there, but if you’re going to be stressed out by trying to do so, it’s perfectly ok to be safe and wait. The intersection is terrible, and I’d urge being safe.

I must have watched this 5000 times at this point haha- my test is July 10th; I've also driven around the area a few times, not too terrible to be honest!
To those who took the test, how did parallel parking go? You drive yourself to the prepared space with cones and try to get it right (3 chances), right?
Three changes. yet once i hit my cone it was a automatic fail. I believe O can pass the driving part but now you have to start by parallel parking then drive. I never did parallel parking only angle parking when i was practicing with my dad. we never needed to. i was driving back and forth to work, the store etc i did great for a few months

Passed today literally around the block just don't hit them damn cones when parrellel parking a guy failed as soon as he hit them.
Can you not turn right on red during the test ?
I took my road test on Saturday and I wouldn’t suggest you turn on red. Anywhere you see a light stop at it , because I wanted to turn on red but I didn’t and the cars behind me was mad because I sat threw the light . DONT DO IT

As best I can tell, they do that in the lot at the center. There are a few oversized parallel spots in front.
You don’t have to parallel park. You just have to back out the parking space, drive to a couple streets and get back in the space. Idk why they put parallel parking on the paper.

@@BigKhi23 the test was good! I did the parking on my second try. Besides the parallel parking everything was really easy for mine.
@@hotpotato3332 you just had make sure the car was in the side cones and didn’t hit anything , and after u got back did you get ur provisional right then and there ?
@@BigKhi23 yep that's it. You do have to pull into a parking space at the end of the small driving thing in the neighborhood but that's easy enough. I got the temporary paper license right there. The real one came in the mail a few weeks later
