Hi from France Great reaction! Your astonishment is not exceptional! Diana uses many vocal techniques rarely used in pop music (like overtones, yodel, and some from classical singing....). The one that seems to amaze people the most is polyphonic voice. The root notes are enriched with powerful harmonics which can give the impression that there are several overlapping voices or an artificial effect which gives this result. This technique is used in Slavic folk music, like Bulgarian vocal groups or artists like Pelageya, the Russian folk diva. I cannot tell you exactly how these artists achieve this result, I was just told that it is linked to the simultaneous use of the different resonators of the human body and that such a mastery of the voice and of the breath with such a fluidity requires years of work, Diana has been singing on stage and has been taking singing and performing arts lessons since the age of 6! This broadcast is "You're Great!" ("You are Super"), a song contest reserved for children who have had a difficult start in life. As others have said, it was considered somewhat of a "national scandal" that they did not turn. The judges did ask her to sing a second song after this and that wowed them even more. I heard that the applause was so long that they had to cut the cameras - the tears Diana sheds backstage afterwards are heart-rendering but as you read the translation you find out she was crying not because of the judges' failure to turn, but rather because she had never been applauded so much by so many people before... (which then went and made me cry! lol). One day the whole world will applaud this amazing young lady.
FWIW, Elizabeth Zharoff has also recorded a reaction to this performance, and was equally baffled by the judges' collective lack of good sense. To paraphrase Elizabeth "Yodelling is hard. If someone can yodel, they can do almost anything."

You can tell the show was about the massive egos of the judges and not the children since most of the video is focused on the judges clowning around and not the performance. The Judges and the show openly disgraced themselves.
Thank you for this video reaction. Diana released a beautiful song called With You Voice last year. She also released several other songs recently that are rather sad. They included Perfection,. Fastidious Horses and Soldier You Survived. The last song was in honor of the veterans of WWII. The Russians call it the The Great Patriotic War. It is interesting to see all of the adults in this video become so emotional with this video. Then again, war is a terrible thing that marks us for life. Even 70 years later. As I understand, the veterans groups asked Diana to sing it. I think they made the right choice.
Greetings from Scotland! This is not all of the video. It goes on where the judges question Diana and ask her if she can sing anything else. Diana sings the Edith Piaf classic - "Non, Je ne regrette rien" in near perfect French and with such emotion and power. This is the point where all the judges realise they have made one of the biggest collective mistakes of their lives...................... Such a shame, but Diana picked herself up and every day, every performance since then she has shown them just what they let slip through their fingers. Haha the proper emotion indeed. I was so angry as well, honestly to think a judge cannot discern a mock indian call using a hand gesture from a yodel. Anyhow several years later I came across wicked game by a diana. How amazing it was to learn that this was my yodel gal. Redemption !
She is delightfulness incorporated! I am still huffy over the judges' injustice (and I can't help wonder whether they were instructed to not choose her, or what on EARTH was going on there that not one of them turned!). I also know - with the benefit of history's 20/20 vision, that she rose above this, and above THEM and showed the world what SHE can do. She is proof that they were, well, the wrong choice for HER. You should see the full version of the video, she sings another stanza 'Non, je ne regretted rien' by Edith Piaf and puts the jury to shame. Next day, a huge scandal broke out in social medias… Yeah, it's really sad. I think these people don't care what they can do to a child (of course a child has to learn to lose too ... but if you've always won?) Diana cried but she was also happy about the many spectators who cheered her. She didn't know that yet. Luckily Diana is strong and she said herself, that a new door opened. 2018 the competition 'You are super' ... Nyusha is one of the jurors who didn't turn around. A few months later she invited Diana to one of her performances and sang on stage with her ... as an excuse (I think Diana sings much better then Nyuscha). The same thing happened to Diana before. In 2014/15 Anna Petryasheva, a Russian composer, was a juror in a singing competition in which Diana took part. The jury was instructed to reject Diana because she had already won so many competitions. The judge couldn't refuse, but she was very ashamed. Diana was the best but she was eliminated. Frankly, I am not inclined to suspect sort of corruption or something like that in this case though such cases took place at the Voice later on. But not in this case. Rather, low qualification of the judges prevented them from turning. They thought: if I turn, what woould I do with this girl later on? Yodel is a very specific genre. They were not vocally literate enough to understand, that a singer who can yodel, can do anything!

Just keep in mind it''s Russia, a TV station run by the russian federation...Need I say more (if you know what I mean...). Hey Christi if you want to see another completely different side of Diana and learn about Russian culture, then listen to some of her singing very old traditional songs for the upcoming Holiday "Victory Day" on May 8th. This is a highly celebrated holiday throughout Russia and many eastern European countries. Many artists have sung these songs throughout time. WARNING, these are very sad and somber songs. "Dark Night", "Craines", and "You Survived Soldier" from her YT chanel. Diana is very Patriotic, and I find it very very rare that a young artist like her performs these type of songs in today's world. React to any of them if you wish or not. I just ask you to listen to them.
There are a number of versions of what happened, but there was a video out that had English subtitles that made it quite clear. Apparently the female judge was the only one who could vote as the men had their number of contestants. The woman couldn't decide if she had anything to offer to an extremely talented yodeler, what if that is all she can do? Later in the video the judges ask her to give them a sample of something else and Diana sings a few bars of "Non, Je Ne Regret Rien" and it blows them out of the water. It's a good thing she had this exposure and results because it may have had a lot to do with her appearing on You are Super. Unfortunately, I didn't save the location of the version with the subtitles, and haven't been able to find it back yet.
I think deep down you know why she was not chosen. TV talent shows have never been about the talent and in the case of this show it's only about who the the judges think they can win with based on there own "expertise". Maybe someday there will be an actual honest show that focuses on the actual talent and not the saddest back story or putting another feather in a judges cap.
This was Diana's performance on the TV show "The Voice", and it still raises many questions about the bias of the judges. Many music critics say that the seats in this TV show were pre-allocated, and Diana did not fit into this scenario in any way. I do not know how the TV show "The Voice" is held in other countries, but in Russia all the prizes can only go to children from rich families or children whose parents are somehow connected with the management of this TV channel. I am an outsider and did get to see an abbreviated version of that specific show. Most of the kids sang cover English Pop and Rock songs. Most of the kids were pretty good. Although Yodeling is a vocal art form, it just is not as popular as it once was. As several others stated, I feel the Judges were in for themselves. I think it is a blessing in disguise that she did not get selected. Can you imagine what kind of Pop star that they would have tried to turn her into?

Otherwise, there were no great performances of her in the TV show "You are super" on another channel. Wow! I can't even imagine what kind of self-serving slimebucket you'd have to be to use children as pawns for your own betterment. The judges and producers should all be ashamed of themselves. First, for playing petty power-games with children for whom this might be the only opportunity they ever get. And second, for selling such a sham "talent show" to the nation.

Here everything is decided by the number of views and, accordingly, the rating of this TV show. The higher the rating of the program, the more ads that can be placed there. The thing with The Voice is that the singer's song choice and the delivery of that song at the blind audition defines what kind of artist the singer is or wants to be. Especially with The Voice given the fact the coaches cannot see the visual of the artist before making a decision to turn. They have no other information to work with making song choice extremely crucial. If it was American Idol or America's Got Talent format the judges can say "OK, have you got a second song?" and converse with the auditionee before making a decision but not with The Voice. You get one song and one shot and that's it. Your song and the style of music of that song speak volumes of the direction you want to go to and aspirations of who you want to be. The goal is to market a commercial pop artist or at least use the show as a springboard to a bigger audience. With a song and music style like this it is nowhere near commercial enough making the coaches doubt if they can work with the artist because as far as they are concerned the singer could well just only be interested with this type of music and sings nothing else. I have seen pro level jazz and opera singers delivering elite level performances on The Voice and none of the coaches turn around with some of the coaches giving the explanation "I didn't turn around because I simply wouldn't know what to do with you if I was your coach". I know if the show is called The Voice then the main consideration should be about the voice but life is a bit more complicated than that and other factors would come into play. Moral of the story is, be smart with the choices and decisions you make when entering shows like this..........song choice can be absolutely key to making the next round as it is evident in this case. If you get one shot, use it wisely.
[The Super] Very interesting but in this case I will accept the reason no one turned is because the winner had already been chosen. Being as how this is Russia and the person posting their comment, either on the original posted video or on a older reaction video, was from Russia I will accept his reason why the judges sat on their behind.
Well, I also felt shame at those judges. That's why (and there are some cases similar) I do not watch a Russian version of Voice for Children. I agree with Diana, she said "One door is closed, but another will open."

Your astonishment is not exceptional! Diana uses many vocal techniques rarely used in pop music (like overtones, yodel, and some from classical singing....). The one that seems to amaze people the most is polyphonic voice. The root notes are enriched with powerful harmonics which can give the impression that there are several overlapping voices or an artificial effect which gives this result.
This technique is used in Slavic folk music, like Bulgarian vocal groups or artists like Pelageya, the Russian folk diva. I cannot tell you exactly how these artists achieve this result, I was just told that it is linked to the simultaneous use of the different resonators of the human body and that such a mastery of the voice and of the breath with such a fluidity requires years of work, Diana has been singing on stage and has been taking singing and performing arts lessons since the age of 6!
This broadcast is "You're Great!" ("You are Super"), a song contest reserved for children who have had a difficult start in life. This is the case of Diana who was mistreated and ended up in an orphanage at 3 years old.
In this shows Diana is directing, arranging and preparing her performances herself. She's a real creator.
In addition, her costumes are designed and sewn by her mother and grandmother since she was 5.

As others have said, it was considered somewhat of a "national scandal" that they did not turn. The judges did ask her to sing a second song after this and that wowed them even more. I heard that the applause was so long that they had to cut the cameras - the tears Diana sheds backstage afterwards are heart-rendering but as you read the translation you find out she was crying not because of the judges' failure to turn, but rather because she had never been applauded so much by so many people before... (which then went and made me cry! lol). One day the whole world will applaud this amazing young lady.

After the judges turned they asked Diana to sing a different type of music (It seems they were trying to test her or show the audience - that gave Diana a 5 minute stand ovation - that she “just” knew yodel). She sang Je ne regrette rien by Edith Piaf! 😂

Perhaps it was for the best that the clueless judges did not pick her for their teams. Years later Diana said that the two shows she was on - The Voice and You Are Super - were night and day. The Voice was all about cuthroat competition while You Are Super paid more attention to the young contestants' well-being and a healthy relationship between them.
After this performance, backstage Diana burst into tears but - interestingly - not because of losing, but because the applause she had received was stronger than she had ever heard before. Today she is a freshman at the prestigious Moscow Institute of Performing Arts. I hope the road ahead of her is promising. Russian commenters often allude to the Russian entertainment industry being a rigged game, but I have no idea if there is any truth to it. Anyway, Diana comes of age this month and some career decisions will probably soon be made.

Последний исполняется в своеобразной манере на одних гласных с характерным частым и резким переходом от низкого грудного регистра к головному (фальцет) на широких интервалах (кварта, секста, децима) и разложенных аккордовых звуках (доминантаккорд и нонаккорд). В низком регистре певец вокализирует на гласных "а", "о", в высоком на гласных "е", "и". Подобного рода вокализация (нем. Jodeln - йодельн) может быть и многогол. в виде канонообразной переклички с перекрещиванием голосов, следующих друг за другом.
Отечественные "народные" и "заслуженные" члены жюри этого не знали.

You can tell the show was about the massive egos of the judges and not the children since most of the video is focused on the judges clowning around and not the performance. The Judges and the show openly disgraced themselves.
Thank you for this video reaction. Diana released a beautiful song called With You Voice last year. She also released several other songs recently that are rather sad. They included Perfection,. Fastidious Horses and Soldier You Survived. The last song was in honor of the veterans of WWII. The Russians call it the The Great Patriotic War. It is interesting to see all of the adults in this video become so emotional with this video. Then again, war is a terrible thing that marks us for life. Even 70 years later. As I understand, the veterans groups asked Diana to sing it. I think they made the right choice.

Greetings from Scotland! This is not all of the video. It goes on where the judges question Diana and ask her if she can sing anything else. Diana sings the Edith Piaf classic - "Non, Je ne regrette rien" in near perfect French and with such emotion and power. This is the point where all the judges realise they have made one of the biggest collective mistakes of their lives...................... Such a shame, but Diana picked herself up and every day, every performance since then she has shown them just what they let slip through their fingers. There's a lot more that happened but it would take all night to explain. :))

Yeah, it's really sad. I think these people don't care what they can do to a child (of course a child has to learn to lose too ... but if you've always won?) Diana cried but she was also happy about the many spectators who cheered her. She didn't know that yet. Luckily Diana is strong and she said herself, that a new door opened. 2018 the competition 'You are super' ...
Nyusha is one of the jurors who didn't turn around. A few months later she invited Diana to one of her performances and sang on stage with her ... as an excuse (I think Diana sings much better then Nyuscha).
The same thing happened to Diana before. In 2014/15 Anna Petryasheva, a Russian composer, was a juror in a singing competition in which Diana took part. The jury was instructed to reject Diana because she had already won so many competitions. The judge couldn't refuse, but she was very ashamed. Diana was the best but she was eliminated. Frankly, I am not inclined to suspect sort of corruption or something like that in this case though such cases took place at the Voice later on. But not in this case. Rather, low qualification of the judges prevented them from turning. They thought: if I turn, what woould I do with this girl later on? Yodel is a very specific genre. They were not vocally literate enough to understand, that a singer who can yodel, can do anything!

Hey Christi if you want to see another completely different side of Diana and learn about Russian culture, then listen to some of her singing very old traditional songs for the upcoming Holiday "Victory Day" on May 8th. This is a highly celebrated holiday throughout Russia and many eastern European countries. Many artists have sung these songs throughout time. WARNING, these are very sad and somber songs. "Dark Night", "Craines", and "You Survived Soldier" from her YT chanel. Diana is very Patriotic, and I find it very very rare that a young artist like her performs these type of songs in today's world. React to any of them if you wish or not. I just ask you to listen to them.

There are a number of versions of what happened, but there was a video out that had English subtitles that made it quite clear. Apparently the female judge was the only one who could vote as the men had their number of contestants. The woman couldn't decide if she had anything to offer to an extremely talented yodeler, what if that is all she can do? Later in the video the judges ask her to give them a sample of something else and Diana sings a few bars of "Non, Je Ne Regret Rien" and it blows them out of the water. It's a good thing she had this exposure and results because it may have had a lot to do with her appearing on You are Super. Unfortunately, I didn't save the location of the version with the subtitles, and haven't been able to find it back yet.

I think deep down you know why she was not chosen. TV talent shows have never been about the talent and in the case of this show it's only about who the the judges think they can win with based on there own "expertise". Maybe someday there will be an actual honest show that focuses on the actual talent and not the saddest back story or putting another feather in a judges cap.
This was Diana's performance on the TV show "The Voice", and it still raises many questions about the bias of the judges. Many music critics say that the seats in this TV show were pre-allocated, and Diana did not fit into this scenario in any way. I do not know how the TV show "The Voice" is held in other countries, but in Russia all the prizes can only go to children from rich families or children whose parents are somehow connected with the management of this TV channel. If then these "judges" turned to Diana, then the whole scenario for awarding prizes in this competition would have been violated and the judges simply would not have received the fees that they were promised. I am an outsider and did get to see an abbreviated version of that specific show. Most of the kids sang cover English Pop and Rock songs. Most of the kids were pretty good. Although Yodeling is a vocal art form, it just is not as popular as it once was. As several others stated, I feel the Judges were in for themselves. I think it is a blessing in disguise that she did not get selected. Can you imagine what kind of Pop star that they would have tried to turn her into?

Otherwise, there were no great performances of her in the TV show "You are super" on another channel. The thing with The Voice is that the singer's song choice and the delivery of that song at the blind audition defines what kind of artist the singer is or wants to be. Especially with The Voice given the fact the coaches cannot see the visual of the artist before making a decision to turn. They have no other information to work with making song choice extremely crucial. If it was American Idol or America's Got Talent format the judges can say "OK, have you got a second song?" and converse with the auditionee before making a decision but not with The Voice. You get one song and one shot and that's it. Your song and the style of music of that song speak volumes of the direction you want to go to and aspirations of who you want to be. The goal is to market a commercial pop artist or at least use the show as a springboard to a bigger audience. With a song and music style like this it is nowhere near commercial enough making the coaches doubt if they can work with the artist because as far as they are concerned the singer could well just only be interested with this type of music and sings nothing else. I have seen pro level jazz and opera singers delivering elite level performances on The Voice and none of the coaches turn around with some of the coaches giving the explanation "I didn't turn around because I simply wouldn't know what to do with you if I was your coach". I know if the show is called The Voice then the main consideration should be about the voice but life is a bit more complicated than that and other factors would come into play. Moral of the story is, be smart with the choices and decisions you make when entering shows like this..........song choice can be absolutely key to making the next round as it is evident in this case. If you get one shot, use it wisely.

Being as how this is Russia and the person posting their comment, either on the original posted video or on a older reaction video, was from Russia I will accept his reason why the judges sat on their behind.
