I think the only main appeal (which can make the game extremely boring at times) is the collectables. Every update centers on either getting new skins or followers. Mimics can be fun to hunt but at the end of the day you’re just hunting for another skin, theres almost no enemy variety in terms of their actual mechanics and the game feels overall super safe.
As someone mimic grinding right now (im lvl 142), i kinda want to go and say ALL TOWER DEFENSE GAMES run like this. Somethings stand out, but you can't tell me you won't get tired of seeing the same robloxian-like noob on your tower defense game. I'd stop playing for that alone
that is a fair point!! though i'd argue in most other types of tower defense games you'd atleast have to worry about more waves than just the final one for the most part, such as TDS and possibly TDX, though im not that much of a TDX player myself.
@@acoolbugproductions1936I would have to agree as there are not much dps tests in any of the maps (besides the horrendously difficult map that are 40/50+) so the way this game makes it difficult is a fast strong enemy on an early wave then if you survive you Basicly win till the boss.
A complaint I have is how spectre-(damage booster tower)-reliant this game is. You cant beat like 70-80% of the maps witouth Spectre, who is annoyingly taking up 1 space in our invetories, being even more annoying in solo runs. I would find this fine in the hardest maps, and maybe in medium maps' solo games, but the it feels like I just have 4 inventory slots most of the time. His gameplay isnt fun either, he makes your towers way more expensive, so you have to max him late, but not too late, because his ability wont load in time for the boss (mainly an issue for easy mode). This might be just a personal problem, because I dont play other tower defense games, the only one I actually tried in is Flavor frenzy, where I dont feel forced to use Macha (damage booster).
I've been playing Tower Heroes for over 4 years now and honestly its felt like a chore to play recently, the main reason I stick around is Sunk cost fallacy. I love the art I love the characters but like you said it's just so mind numbing. My favorite map they made for the game was actually somewhat recently being Destiny Dawn because its such a challenging and fun map, the map has a unique gimmick (With not being able to share mana, Mana sharing is my least favorite feature in the game honestly) along with a challenging but fun boss
Tbh i understand that its your opinion, but what interests me into this game A LOT compared to other tower defenses, its how this game is balanced with its towers. U can argue "Scientist is op bla bla bla", but there are other towers with other strategies that dont involve her and work. Im proof of this after making a strategy with my friend to beat frantic forest on hard mode, we used NUKI to carry early and mid, then placed yasukes with a goblino for insane boss damage with quinn for slow. No scientists at all if i recall it correctly, ofc u do need spec to win but thats fine, this game makes a good balance between supports and damage dealer for teams, specially when playing 3 players. I tried some of the tower defenses you mentioned as "better than TH", but they arent appealing to me. TH's starter towers are already good and can be used for strategies, but when playing with scout on TDS u js cant pass through late waves, its pretty unbalanced as some towers just cant be used or u lose. Hell, i could even win hard maps such as Alien Attack or Toy Takeover on hard using BEETRICE. My other point is how charismatic and colorful the towers and enemies in TH are, they rlly connect to u through their designs and its js wholesome, and ill use TDS as example again, but the characters there are so plain and basic, i js dont care abt them. TH is also very rewarding, its possible to beat some maps on easy as a beginner without supports if u place well, such as Knoddy Resort, which gives u towers for free, its also not so hard or expensive to buy a tower, as their prices are usually similiar. Overall i disagree abt this game being bad, and theres a lot to talk abt it, but this is js your opinion and thats fine. Peace
I would like to build on your point as a reason for new players to start this game it’s not a slog grind fest to get started. You get a very good tower and then one of the best towers at the beginning. And then it also not hard to get more heros. But after that the only real content is skins
i know i’m probably biased but i’ll try to make points anyways i make youtube vids about this game and have been playing since release, i know there are many things wrong with th. the main criticisms most people have with the game aren’t really present here though. the complaint about waves taking too long or that there’s no gameplay is just a downside of most tower defense games. unlike you say in your video, the average game of something like tds is just about the same length as a game of tower heroes. (also i’m aware there are a few maps that are MUCH worse than 30 mins like pirate panic, i’ll give you that. theres some old stuff that aged like milk) the criticism of th having no gimmick is fine i guess. not every game has to have some “reason why its different,” but at that point im just going on about my opinion. i like the game because it does the formula well. if you say you genuinely see no reason for new people to come to the game; im sorry i think its just your opinion atp. there has to be SOME reason and i think you know that you make some good point though. the developers are scared to change a lot of stuff and it leads to a lot of repetition, like you mentioned scientist is still one of the best towers to this day thanks for reading the game is definitely very flawed
@Infadier going to make a teeny tiny response to this, but im thankful that you even made a well structured response like this anyhow!!! 1- the main point of games taking too long mainly comes from there feeling like there isnt anything to do while a wave occurs it basically just boils down to the fact that most individual waves in tower heroes serve as unthreatening filler imo 2- thats fair!! i just think that the baseline of a tower defense game doesn’t really get anywhere without something in the game pulling it up 3- there probably is? it might be because of the appealing artstyle and how it isn't all that complex for most people, but i cant see any other reason otherwise i probably shoulda structured the video better / made it longer, but thats what learning is all for!!
i mean in terms of the meta for dps, there is lure, who does slightly higher damage and is basically just a second and better version of scientist (since they don't get stunned), but it's an event tower that if you didn't get back then in halloween, you have to cough up 500 robux to get it fun!
I play Tower Heroes more than I like to admit, and I agree SO MUCH with this There ARE hard maps that actually haves you worried on waves that arent start/final (Unfortunately its mostly due to the RNG) but other than that, the main game has little to nothing to offer, making most of people play for the skins/enemies (The game haves some really neat character design) The only stuff that are fun to play is quite literally anything BUT the main game (Raid maps can still be fun tho) Modifiers actually makes the game slightly more challenging, Adventure mode forces you to constantly shift your strategy due to the RNG path, Contracts are quite literally the best part about the game I really wish they start to putting more efort (Or hell, RE-USE the code) that they put on contracts to the main game, since most of the time people play Tower Heroes is during easter/halloween/christmas due to the contracts actually have an interesting/fun mechanic (Experiment 43 they could never make me hate you...)
I don't like how TH never tries to experiment with new mechanics or something to spice up the gameplay, aside from the wave 10 fast 300 hp enemy spam, most hard maps are only hard because of "generic tanky and extremely fast enemy number 482" or a spam of high hp enemies early on, the adventure gamemode (or whatever it is called) is practically abandoned and the only thing that keeps pvp somewhat relevant is egg hunts/contracts, not only that, the game leans towards teamwork A LOT, and, considering how 99% of most servers are filled with low levels and AFK players who are stuck on the loading screen, yeah, it's hell trying to find people to play with, especially if there's something like contracts or egg hunts going on. that's it ig, i got nothing else
yeah,i just can’t find anyone doing boss rushes anymore.i like how unique they are and fun but if anyone joins it they are either low level or have tower that dont do much dps.
Honestly, most of your statement is very true, but i've been playing the game for almost 4 years now, and im not gonna lie, i dont know why i still find it so fun. I think it's the satisfaction of finally completing a map? Idk. There's just something about this game that tickles my brain in the right spot. I really love the art style. it's the number 1 reason to how i found my art style, makes the towers and enemies have unique personalities by design and animation alone, and it's just really well made. I can definitely see why people like you wouldn't enjoy it as much as i do because i am aware of the flaws that Tower Heroes has. Sometimes, i wish they dont always just release new maps every event and do something more unique, and the balancing is also not the greatest, but I still play it because I would still find myself to enjoy it. So yeah, your point is completely reasonable and understandable, but I think the reason why so many people are playing this game is because it's so unique compared to the other Roblox tower defence games aside from the cute art style.
I love casual mode and the modifier system and its the reason I come back after hiatuses because its really fun to stack modifiers for boss rush with friends or find the best coin grinding strategies. despite its flaws its a system I really don’t see in other td games it feels almost like a sandbox.
alot of difficulty in tower heroes just relies on 1 random fast enemy spawning 5 waves earlier than they should theres alot of stuff like aggro, defense, enemy types and hidden type which never get expanded upon and most maps end up having 30 stat blocks with the odd fast enemy spawning 5 waves earlier than it should and then on the final wave theres a boss that 50/50 chance of being a stat block or actually interesting enemy types are locked behind elements which only get put on enemies if theyre actually related to that element tds enemies can either have stun immunity or freeze immunity and it can be put on any enemy, in tower heroes an enemy can only get stun immunity if its electric type (or void type which is getting more and more common) i think its also because they only ever effect one tower and another one tower is actually effected after wave 20 (byte) and it mostly just says (this map is fire related bring mait or this map has shrooms bring dump)
The problems about this game is about tower limits and mana currency to gain. Normally it would be epic to have many towers to beat the game solo just like bloons tower defense game but some enemies can be a total problematic on your solo hard grind
I like the different enemies and waves for maps when on challenge. Gives more variety. But when on TDs or any game for that mattrr youre fighting the same enemies and bosses again again and agaim
They should add global servers because every time I go in one full server 99% of the people are afk like they could play ANY OTHER GAME but no they think this game is good to afk they should at least add a kick timer like phighting because for roblox it cost money to keep people afk phighting is different it takes shorter time to kick someone like maybe 5 minutes pixel bit studio probably would see a player decrease but that’s only the players doing Also beating maps are really hard because silent sanctuary was really easy for a 3 dudes but now it’s impossible because of tower nerfs and new other towers back then there where a few towers just pick a few simple towers and you might beat a map with it but now there Soo much every time someone tells me to replace a tower I try the remember what his a$$ does but it’s literally the tower that does the exact thing but it makes friendly enemies Tower heroes has been out for a long time people really and actually liked it but now they only come back for 1 update and they disappear for 6 months to have a good quality game it has to be enjoyable and it must have a aspect where you can solo 75% of the game plus alien attack map is Soo uncoordinated because of the big alien grunt that needs 3/5 max kart kids just to beat and it’s a test to see if you are worthy of fighting them multiple times on one wave They have 20k hp and the send like oh 15 of them each round -cyberhaptic The quality, colors and art feel down pixel bit studio try making more enjoyable entertaining and have a lot of colors but failed in going so, games that pixel bit make like aftermath are good but decreased in popularity because it had no updates because it’s a game jam, super bloxy hills looks feels entertaining it’s has good art but they never somehow make ANY progress to release it Maps that have towers when you beat them are only good like silent sanctuary because the tower IS actually good but sometimes gets nerfed or buffed, colabs are good because it takes a enjoyable game into tower heroes like doors maybe robot 64 and bake a cake.
The only thing I hate about is.Hidden detection.Whats the point of it if you only have to either place a hero that already has the detection on lvl one or upgrade the hero once

tds enemies can either have stun immunity or freeze immunity and it can be put on any enemy, in tower heroes an enemy can only get stun immunity if its electric type (or void type which is getting more and more common)

Also beating maps are really hard because silent sanctuary was really easy for a 3 dudes but now it’s impossible because of tower nerfs and new other towers back then there where a few towers just pick a few simple towers and you might beat a map with it but now there Soo much every time someone tells me to replace a tower I try the remember what his a$$ does but it’s literally the tower that does the exact thing but it makes friendly enemies
Tower heroes has been out for a long time people really and actually liked it but now they only come back for 1 update and they disappear for 6 months to have a good quality game it has to be enjoyable and it must have a aspect where you can solo 75% of the game plus alien attack map is Soo uncoordinated because of the big alien grunt that needs 3/5 max kart kids just to beat and it’s a test to see if you are worthy of fighting them multiple times on one wave
They have 20k hp and the send like oh 15 of them each round
-cyberhaptic
The quality, colors and art feel down pixel bit studio try making more enjoyable entertaining and have a lot of colors but failed in going so, games that pixel bit make like aftermath are good but decreased in popularity because it had no updates because it’s a game jam, super bloxy hills looks feels entertaining it’s has good art but they never somehow make ANY progress to release it
