That's how my husband and I did I for years. You aren't to intrusive. We toured all over North America, and we took are pets, dogs and cats with us. Happy travels.

Yes! Everything you said. But one of the best parts for me is a good night’s sleep. I can always expect at least a night or two of bad sleep at a hotel or in any unfamiliar bed. The van is home!

I think a low top 4x4 is a sweet spot for all the conviences with a little more off road capability than the spinters/transits. I love the Primal Outdoors chanel van. One way or the other vanlife does give that one up on having soft sides that a tent does.

With all of the experience you both have acquired over the years, has anyone approached you in regards to designing vans? I think a custom , 'We're the Russos " model or 2 would well.
They haven’t but we did help Storyteller test their prototypes before they got into the wild.

I know that because of space constraints each item that you take on board has to be vital to your daily living. That being said what was the conversation like around bringing the Bucky suits onboard? Just curious, lol!
Because we like to have fun! Always need to bring things along that make you smile, even if it means not bringing something else.

A question: the Sprinter Store has been talking about a 34 gallon auxiliary tank for the Transit that fits in the rear tire slot (65 total gallons and the auxiliary pumps 5 gallons per push).
So with your connections could you see when that might come out? It's been like 3 years I think.
If they make it can you still put it underneath in the spare tire area with your conversion's modifications? Inquiring minds want to know!
Side note- you need a dog! And they do add a lot to the adventures!
Hey Robert - unfortunately we don't know anyone at the Sprinter Store but if we do meet anyone from there, we'll ask. The Transit is starting to become more popular so there is now more incentive for them to complete that project. And the spare tire area is completely open on the Storyteller so you'd be able to add the aux fuel tank there.

So glad to see "Mom." I've never had cancer, but I have had severe asthma for almost 30 years (developed when I was 28) and am missing two lobes of my lungs (they just disintegrated!). Even when I am well I have trouble breathing; it's not fun so I can certainly sympathize. I'm glad you are feeling well!!

by the way, heard something about state of California not wanting to register diesel vehicles older than 2006. thus, no longer feasible to buy non emissions old diesel truck in California. not sure if that law passed or is in effect in 2023
I know that’s true for commercial/farm vehicles but I don’t know about personal vehicles

I really like the idea of van life and I hear the word freedom very often. But what worries me is, is the freedom. The USDOT Federal Highway Administration has what Allen Vehicle Miles Traveled Fees (VMT) where they can charge you a fee (tax) per mile driven. They say it is for maintenance and upkeep on roads... etc etc. Is that really freedom? Higher fuel prices, higher repair costs, higher tires and parts and the list can go on and on. All these fees really seem like a kick in the balls to freedom.

How are you handling the gas prices?
Staying out of Cali as much as possible but at the end of the day we look at it as a cost for getting to enjoy the road
Looks like fun. Is it getting difficult to afford gas?
