Good luck! They are great plants. Very reliable, good sized yields. They aren't the best for eating fresh, kind of taste like crab apples. But blend really well into smoothies and you can also make a nice juice from them.
Unfortunately I gave all of them away this year since I was moving. But I am going to check back with the people who are growing them about flavor and do an update.
No they are not sweet. They are tart and dry. Kind of like a dry wine. They are good for jams or used in smoothies as they are very beneficial health wise.
They are nopt sweet but yummy in their own taste. I like the pure Aronia juice and 1 bottle of pure juice has about 1200 berries. I drink 1 bottle a week, so I cannot plant enough bushes, I buy my pure juice from the USA Farmers, who know what they are doing. Its all on my channel.
Tennessee doesn't have any of the open prairie drought we get in illinois...I think they call aronia evergreen. Evergreens don't grow in the prairie despite it's "zone"
Need another variety of aronia to boost production. Most plants even so called 'independents' are better with a 2nd...like say black chokeberry not of the Viking varietal.
@@theforestgardener4011it seems the Viking is not a straight Aronia . The Viking comes from Ukraine and other east European countries and is used as a farm crop . It is sorbaronia . An Aronia crossed with a mountain ash .
My black chokeberry bush is about 5 years old and you should see the size and how many berries it produces ...
Ive just got my first chokeberry shrub for my new food forest garden, I learned loads watching this thank you!
I'm glad it helped. I just harvested 4 pounds of berries from one shrub this year.
Thanks for the info. I am looking forward to planting my first aronia this spring.
Great info. I ordered 2 Aronia shrubs from Baker Creek. I have never tasted these berries. Also planting 6 elderberries and 2 dwarf Mulberries.

I just planted my Aronia today! :)
I'm your new SUBSCRIBER from the Philippines.. 👍👍👍
Thanks for subbing!
I have never got any sucker shoots from my bushes, and I have had one of mine for 20 years, not sure why, it is a Viking.
Have you gotten any fruit from your seedlings? And are any of them better than the parent plant?

Does it sweet in taste..?

I would like to have this berry, but I'm from the Philippines 🇵🇭, is it possible if I can buy from you some seeds or seedlings. THANKS.
I don't have any seeds for sale right now but they should be available online!
Aronia prefer cooler weather.

Choke cherry has a poisenois stone, Arona fruit can be eaten completely.

I don’t know about that. This shrub gets LOADED with berries without a 2nd variety around. I’m not even sure how it would fit more fruit.
