I have accumulated so many books over the years, and some, like yours, no one would want or need. In this digital age, our thrift stores have stopped accepting books. What a brilliant idea to turn them into art! I enjoyed this so much! Beautiful!
Very pretty! I would definietly recommend wrapping the book block in paper that you can throw away, to help protect it from what you're doing to the cover. You can also use gold wax, I think, to make the edges of the paper gold (Sea Lemon has more on that somewhere, I'm sure). I'd also recommend, once that huge pot of blue modge podge has gone, switch to Beacon's Fabritac or 3-in-1 for fixing fabric to card/paper, that stuff dries clear and is very very good. It's what I make all my journals with. (also, for fixing metal bits to card, try Ranger's Glossy Accents). Have you ever thought about either making your own blank notebooks that you can decorate, or buying them to decorate (and then to sell, I mean?), or even a joint collab with someone who makes notebooks? Thank you for sharing!
Ooo that’s such a good idea Liz! I’ll definitely do that next time, with the pages I mean! Yeah, I used gold wax on the edges a little last time I decorated a book ☺️ thank you for all of the suggestions! I keep thinking about decorating notebooks to stock in my shop, I think I’ll have to get some blank ones soon! I did attempt it about a year or so ago, bought like 5 notebooks and got over it really quickly 🙈😄🤦♀️ I think it might be time to try again
I would definetly go for it! I'd think in terms of decorating big books - like large photo albums, scrapbooks, the kind that people buy for big projects to keep (like wedding recording etc.), as I think they'd be willing to pay more for a nicely decorated blank book - it may make it worth your time in decorating it nicely. :)
I've watched a lot of different decoupage pages lately and I have to say, no one is as talented as you!! I absolutely love your work and look forward to getting the notifications when you've uploaded a video!! 💜 you've inspired me and I'm starting my very first decoupage piece today! Wish me luck! 💜
Aww thank you so much! That’s so sweet of you to say that and I really really appreciate it! ❤️❤️❤️ good luck with your project! I’m sure it’ll turn out beautifully!
Very nice and an excellent video. I love the moulds and the images. All of the images you’ve used from digital collage club have been so nice. It will be a great prop!
I loved that mould on the side of the book, loved but got either wrong moulds or and errorpage. Too bad. I love the way you made this something special
I enjoyed this very much! I could see this as a Christmas book. Thank you for showing us how you make corners for you molds. Could you maybe show us how to do online images. I’m not having much luck with them.
Thank you so much! I’m not quite sure what you mean by online images? How I find them? Or resize and print? I’d be happy to do either just want to make sure I actually answer your question right 😄
Dainty Gifts I am curious as to where you find your online pictures that you use! I downloaded a packet from Etsy and had a lot of trouble with them. They were so small that I couldn’t use them. How you print them?
If you want to use the book, why not make it into a "junk journal"? Just a thought. I think it would be a beautiful transformation, and you put so much work into making it so lovely.
Oh, how I LOVE this! I remember in one of your other tutorials you talk about gluing the moulds on, but I forget if you glue them on when they're still wet, or wait til they dry? I've just ordered some DAS modeling clay and a few molds. I absolutely love to alter old books and these ideas are fantastic. It sort of reminds me of something from Alice in Wonderland for some reason. :-) Have you thought about altering the rest of the book? The inside covers? The pages? What fun you can have with this book. Thank you for all your great ideas and inspiration!
Thank you! I always glue it on when it’s still wet, I can shape it and make sure it’s all stuck on properly when it’s still wet. You can definitely glue it on when it’s dry too but it won’t bend and I find that when it dries before it’s glued on it often warps so it can be quite hard to put it on to a flat bit. I keep thinking about altering the rest of the book but to be honest I really don’t think Im cut out for it, I don’t have the patience for it 🙈🤣 I’ve never been in to journaling, I always start them and get bored 2 days later 😄
@@IvetaZiedina haha... I totally get it. It's something that I enjoy doing, but after I've done journaling for a while, or altering books, I do want to move on to other projects. So, now it's going to be working with clay for a while. Thanks for the tip about gluing it on before it's dry.
Good to watch, and I liked the dots but think less. Loved watching the gold go on looked perfect, just turned out gorgeous. Question..... was the picture laser printed this time? Thanks for sharing 🌸
