Hi Hello From Australia !!! Your Midland 79-892 is JUST what I'm looking for !! COULD you HELP Me PLEASE ? Been Looking for The 40Channel Selector Switch as this Selector also Suits the HMV Roadhound TX 77 SSB/AM
Hi Mr. Mike, I know I am an odd duck, I use the RF Gain (which should be renamed to RF Defeat) all the time.. What is the Model Numbers of the lastest Midland 40 channel SSB Bases?? Thx. 73, W.G./ K4WGD
I bought one when they first came out. The VCO has a bad habit of failing. Replaced mine twice. They are potted in a can with epoxy so very hard to repair. I put a D-104 mobile mic on mine with a thumb wheel pot added for the clarifier. Worked but the clarifier was no longer linear. I suggest staying with the original mic.
Mike, do you still work on these?
I have one and believe the VCO may be bad. No Tx anywhere, No AM Rx, but it does receive U/LSB.

I have a truetone that looks exactly like this one.
It's the same radio. Midland made them for Truetone. Truetone simply rebadged them.
