Most of us go to work to fulfill our needs: to pay the rent or prove our worth or to feel like we're contributing to a cause. What's in common with all of these reasons? They're all about "me." Okay, then what's the alternative? Michael explains.
About The Untethered Soul at Work:
Michael goes in-depth to address ten common workplace challenges, including: finding satisfaction and fulfillment, the art of conscious communication, inspired creativity and problem solving, and more. Here, he helps us apply the essential lessons from his acclaimed books in the everyday realities of work life.

So I was wording this philosophy by saying, "I don't work, I just live, and work is just a part of my life that I'm living....as I do every other aspect of my life.
I see this takes it even several Divine steps over my initial thinking on the subject. This info really is invaluable, and expands on Michael's suggestions of life being an entire Spiritual experience. I'm listening to this several times, and taking notes. Thank you so much.

You know, I find it interesting that many people enjoy a life as such.
I somehow end up leaving work after work, place after place due to feeling like I’ve outgrown them.
So then I tell people to just keep on following their fire and bot settle… yet maybe aome people are here to settle, some people are just here to be in a 9-5 job feeding their family without a worry in the world.
Just like the Black man was supposed to accept and continue to ride in the back of the bus….
I see the perspective of acceptance as that which enables one to find satisfaction in every moment…. Yet when I was drugged with ST John Wort antidepressants I could care less about the job I was in!
Too bad my skin started falling off… see what I mean? Every time I want to just “settle”, the whole world is like…. “Go fight!, go get em tiger!”…. Yet I share this fighting attitude to others and always get the same, old, antiquated response…. Just find acceptance wherever you are….
Wattt… paradox…almost like life has a plan for us and we can’t just waffle away a huge topic such as fighting or not fighting on such a simple idea of “just accept it man”….naaahhhh bruhhh, “if rosa parks had just accepted IT, there wouldn’t be rights today, if MLK had just “accepted “ IT, there wouldn’t be equality today, if Richard Lee had just accepted being a colony ruled by England there wouldn’t have been a Declaration of Independence!!!!…
The only acceptance one needs is the acceptance that you impose upon your free will that you are not strong enough, capable enough, vigorous enough to achieve and receive all that you ever wanted.

Many times work don't flow, or you don't flow with work, and you are in anxiety looking for a way you can give service and also be in peace. I've been really stressed working, and also with anxiety when work finished (used to work in projects with a start and an end). Still looking for that answer and balance, as when you don't work you feel really guilty... and that's not the way neither. You work in life. But life is not work. ❤ Sharing my perception & experience.

Offer everything to serving the universe and serving the one brotherhood of humanity. I love how he talks about raising the energy of everything that is in front of you. I do think sometimes it may be time to leave behind a work situation or leave an environment that is not supportive of your spiritual growth. But I agree that make yourself spiritual first and then you will see the right path forward.

I am not too familiar with Singer's work and teachings, but I find this woefully incomplete. There are pearls of wisdom here certainly, but it smacks of the solipsism of severe privilege. Positivity which eschews the full reality of human experience is just plainly not all there is to spirituality.
I hear in this message why I am drawn to the Taoists rather than the Confucianists and to the Christians rather than the Buddhists. And this is coming from somebody who loves to work, who discovered years ago that bringing a humble, service-oriented mindset is key to having livity in this world.
I never got anywhere from blaming myself for my suffering, and I have never felt the need to tell others that it is only their fault that they are not well. Being not okay is real.

As a student of Advaita and Devotional Nonduality for about 20 years the integration of the subject of work with the "in the trenches" of letting go the sense of separation/ego has always been a challenge. Also translating the truths of Karma Yoga into the modern world has been confusing - at best. Your work over the years as been a light house on how to integrate the truths of Yoga, Advaita, Nonduality with the nitty gritty nuances of the modern world. This content that you produced here was not only well timed, but EXACTLY what was needed. Thank you Michael for all that you have shared and contributed.

OK BUT! I have foud to be quite harmful to percieve ourselves as “a problem” or flawed, it is harmful to think that if we are not enjoying our works it’s because we are a problem and we are getting in the way of our own happiness when the reality for so many people is that they don’t even make enough money to pay rent or feed their children, there are so many layers of injustice in the system that we live in that are causing an inbalance in the world and in the hearts of many individuals, so this message, as beautiful as it is, it Is also byassed by privilege and it only applies for a few and it can be hurting people or making people feel guilty for not being “spiritual enough”.

    • @howwewitch
      @howwewitch Рік тому +5

Exactly. This is also basically saying 'if you're having a problem with being exploited by an employer, you should just change your attitude and be happy about it. If you don't want to let yourself or others be exploited and abused by people with more power and resources, then you're not spiritual enough and instead of trying to change the world for the better for everyone, you need to change your attitude and be fine with it.' Super toxic but a super convenient message to push for someone who's already very comfortable materially and has a lot to lose if status quo isn't maintained.

The fact that you have access to this information is a blessing that you should be grateful for so that you can awaken from your current situation. Everything is connected and everything happens for a reason. Growth is not found in comfort. And yes I talk from experience. You are always presented to two choices, repeat or evolve. If you think that the externall world can bring you change based on what you think, you will suffer. Begin by finding out who you truly are by going within, then the external world will match your vibration by giving you exactly what you need to grow, not what you expect. Who is it that has anxiety and depression? Is it you or your thoughts? Who is it that is thinking? Try to figure that out first before the mind starts judging these pointers in the video and yes they are pointers, noone can give your true nature, you have to realise it for yourself. Teachers can only lead you to the door and give you the key, youre the one that has to open it, and it takes courage. Change is never painful but only our resistance to it. Namaste.

You can seek change, but while change is taking place, or taking its time to happen, you have a choice of how you want to feel.
