Elsewhere, Glenn (Mark McKinney) needs an employee to put on a sombrero and hand out samples of the new store salsa and conspicuously looks to Amy (America Ferrera) and the one other Hispanic employee Carmen (Grace Parra) to do it. Both of these series of events lead to an impromptu diversity seminar for the staff. Nico Santos, Nichole Bloom, Colton Dunn, and Lauren Ash also star.

ABOUT SUPERSTORE
America Ferrera and Ben Feldman star in the hilarious workplace comedy "Superstore," about a unique family of employees at a supersized megastore. "Superstore" centers around Amy (Ferrera), who recently was promoted to be the store manager and is the glue holding the place together, and Jonah (Feldman), a dreamer determined to prove work doesn't have to be boring. Their fellow associates include the sardonic Garrett (Colton Dunn), the sweet and clueless Cheyenne (Nichole Bloom), and the perpetually dismissed Sandra (Kaliko Kauahi). Also on the team are Glenn (Mark McKinney), who stepped down as manager in an attempt to have more family time, and Dina (Lauren Ash), the aggressive assistant manager who enforces Cloud 9 policy with an iron fist. Mateo (Nico Santos) was also part of the team, most recently as the self-promoted floor supervisor, until being detained due to his undocumented status.

When the lady said, Nelson Mandela is African American, Garret looks around to see if anyone else noticed. This is a great example of why this show is so well written and so well acted.
o
😂 true
ayo LOL
Nelson Mandela wasn't Black; he was mixed Khoisan-Black.

@@francesbernard2445 Hella Funny🤣!!
Lost it when Garett said "I hoped when I woke up this morning I was gonna learn about racism from a white lady"
That part kills me 💀😭
Amy's look of concern for Sandra always gets me. 🤣
The fact that Mateo said he's Jose but Mateo is already the Spanish version of Matthew lol
Isnt Mateo filipino? And arent Filipinos Hispanic as well? (Since they were colonised by Spain)

What do Martin Luthor King, Malcolm X, and Nelson Mandela all have in common, they were all prominent African-American leaders. Yes, from the great states of Georgia, Nebraska, and Mvezo respectively.
They're all dead. That's what they have in common. 😀.

Wait a minute, did they call Nelson Mandela African-American??? 💀💀💀
Yes, it caught my attention too.
I thought someone was gonna correct it but it never happened.
Yeah. I specifically rewatched this episode to hear it. I crack up every time 😂😂😂
There are a huge amount of Yanks that call every black person 'African-American' because they have no idea about the rest of the world.
I literally JUST caught that too!! And I've watched this series all the way thru at least 6 times!
It's on purpose, it's part of the joke

The comment "Thanks a lot guys, when I woke up this morning I was hoping to learn about racism from a white lady" describes a situation I have been in way too many times
I'm so happy that this channel is still active.

Nah but Amy's stereotypical impression of an Asian woman was way too good, brilliant actor she is😂
I love that Nelson Mandela is referred to as African American.
Yes. This is the inherent flaw with referring all black people as African-Americans.
africa = america
Its part of the joke that learning about racism from that white lady on tv doesnt help at all as she clearly knows nothing
I think racism is such a touchy subject in America not only because is very prevalent BUT because it is ACTUALLY used to hurt people; it goes beyond stereotypes...
It used to hurt actual victims. Now people are just casually offended, especially on other people's behalf, because they think that automatically makes them good people.
@@TheSinlessAssassin 100% true
@@TheSinlessAssassin its still actually hurting people. Old people and women are being assaulted on the street because of racism. What if somebody is racist to a friend of yours in front of you, but behind their back? Wouldnt you call them out?
Stereotypes can hurt people man and it can lead to violence.
@@swanurine that’s so true.
Watching this episode as a latino was a really fun experience

Can we talk about how they are able to pull everyone off the floor for an hour+
Have you ever been to Walmart or Big box store it's almost exact same thing You're like where is all the employees at in the break room 🤣
People say it’s not realistic for mgmt in the show to pull everyone off the floor for a useless 30 min + meeting, but I’ve had retail jobs where they did just that, only to then freak out why every dept was behind the rest of the day

Mateo could have literally kept calling himself his own name....Mateo would be a common name in Mexico lol
Mateo should not even be offended, he's Filipino and she's mocking mostly East Asians😂
Filipinos are (South) East Asians
@@gwesaugust2489 Aha? East Asians are China, Japan, Taiwan, Korea...which what the girl was mocking. South East Asia has different group of countries 😉
@@gwesaugust2489 learn the difference between East Asian and South East Asian
To be fair, Mateo is mocking Mexicans and she's Guatemalan American. Stereotypes aren't usually concerned with being specific, and it's usually applied to a diverse group of people. That's part of what makes them stereotypes.
@@jmhorange I thought Amy was Honduran?
I've been looking for shows like this after finishing Trollied. It looks hilarious and it has Mark McKinney in it. Definitely going to give it a watch now.
Sandra constantly apologizing is why we need feminism
To be fair, Sandra goes on a long journey throughout the series and finds her voice, asserting herself hilariously at times.
bun bun
By that logic it was a feminist ignoring her…
She needed therapy actually.
This, schitt's Creek and parks and rec are my absolute faves!
0:54 ok this whole scene is freaking hilarious
That's right, you don't just ease in to your racist caricatures, you go from 0-100 immediately.
wait! wasn't colorblind same thing as being ignorant about racism? at least I remember something from one of the episodes in the office.
It is. The old idea was that you shouldn't notice colour ("I don't see race") which is absurd.
It's great to see that this account is still active
This is so funny 🤣🤣 I'm Mexican American and my cousin's and I laugh so hard when we see this episode

Is it ok to dress in green and do the whole leprechaun and shamrock thing, or would that be offensive stereotyping?
Did anyone else cringe when that lady said Nelson Mandela was African-American instead of South African?
Yes
That was on purpose
“Jonah” was Richard Hendricks’ lawyer in Silicon Valley. “You -- not lawyer. Me --lawyer.”
Mateo is also a common name in Latin America, you know Matthew.
We have a grocery store in Canada called Superstore and up until the end of the video I thought that they posted this video💀
Yeah ☠
As a latino, Amy's behavior really bothers me. Like, who is she to talk in behalf all of us? Most latinos would laugh at the stereotype.
American people had these weird fetish in thinking they know what the others think and thus they should represent everyone.
this is the video that made me watch the entire series .

It is actually very good.
Im watching this show for the 3rd time now... but i dont feel like its enough😂

0:26 - Filipinos are considered Hispanic technically --- so its not cultural appropriation
💯
Not really sicne they dont speak Spanish, only countries that speak spanish are called Hispanic but Filipinos due hav alot of Spanish heritage mixed wit their indengious & south asian culture
It's funny that he "changes" his name to Jose to seem more Hispanic when his name, Mateo, is already the Spanish form of Mattew.
Oh God, this is scarily accurate.
I am an English teacher in Havana, Cuba, when l work supporting registration process, the form has a box to be filled with "race", l have called the attention of authorities claiming that this is forbidden in most countries...they claim that this is for statistics....lve been lucky enough to have visited the U.S,that is according to global studies and serious research, one of the least racist countries in the world, along with Australia ....can't wait to visit America again and get a taste of its nice people, food, stores, landscapes and...FREEDOM.

Why did he just say "library" in spanish?

Jokes on her, all of those stereotypes she did on asians only apply to east asians lol.
when I think about it, the Speedy Gonzales "Mexican" accent could also be a Filipino one...
Imagine mimicking another race by their stereotypes then telling someone who does the same thing to you that it's "messed up". Like no kidding? Why do you think she asked you to stop?
"No Mateo..Soy Jose! Jose waaas borrn en a smaull villege in Guajjjjacka." 😂🤣
Which is so dumb considering that Mateo is also a Spanish name
This is an understatement.

I like the skit about being in a staff room class to learn how to not be racist. REminds me of that one free class I had to take before becoming only an umpaid (stay at home mom) volunteer only a couple of hours a week in a mall (Not mentioning any names) to help with public relations and with security there too after a shooting happened there. There in class after assuming that I could have brought my infant son Jack with me to class; no matter how discreet I was while Jack was having a meal there while listening to the teacher who was a policeman later I got mocked by that policeman teacher later during his flirtation to me in which he used the word, "Apples" as his suggestion special pet name for me too." In addition the mall employee who hired me as a volunteer laround a year later while I was applying for a paid position it was mentioned to me that I was not qualified to work there because it was obvious to evernone else that I was going to be way too preoccupied with being a mom instead of working out well. How was I to know what I learned in La LEche classes would not go over well in a class to learn how not to be racists?
Why are they uploading again, is this coming back? Or a spinoff?
