I think racism is such a touchy subject in America not only because is very prevalent BUT because it is ACTUALLY used to hurt people; it goes beyond stereotypes...
It used to hurt actual victims. Now people are just casually offended, especially on other people's behalf, because they think that automatically makes them good people.

I like the skit about being in a staff room class to learn how to not be racist. REminds me of that one free class I had to take before becoming only an umpaid (stay at home mom) volunteer only a couple of hours a week in a mall (Not mentioning any names) to help with public relations and with security there too after a shooting happened there. There in class after assuming that I could have brought my infant son Jack with me to class; no matter how discreet I was while Jack was having a meal there while listening to the teacher who was a policeman later I got mocked by that policeman teacher later during his flirtation to me in which he used the word, "Apples" as his suggestion special pet name for me too." In addition the mall employee who hired me as a volunteer laround a year later while I was applying for a paid position it was mentioned to me that I was not qualified to work there because it was obvious to evernone else that I was going to be way too preoccupied with being a mom instead of working out well. How was I to know what I learned in La LEche classes would not go over well in a class to learn how not to be racists?
