Also on the team are Glenn (Mark McKinney), who stepped down as manager in an attempt to have more family time, and Dina (Lauren Ash), the aggressive assistant manager who enforces Cloud 9 policy with an iron fist. Mateo (Nico Santos) was also part of the team, most recently as the self-promoted floor supervisor, until being detained due to his undocumented status.

As someone who’s Somali-American, I felt Amy’s embarrassment with not knowing Spanish. I don’t know Somali and my parent’s family would roast me all the time. Lol this scene was hilarious!
I wouldn't feel bad for Amy, that dude spoke way too fast, I had trouble understanding him and my first language is Spanish.
Warya that's embarrassing. jk i agree though. Currently losing my somali abilities and my little cousins be roasting me
I'm Indian-American and I don't know Hindi, so I feel you. I know a few words here and there but that's it
@@kayo5011 lmao we gotta brush up on our Somali brotha 😂
@@kayo5011 so you must be turkish then? we only roast turkeys
as a *very* mixed Latina, i think about this episode almost daily. everytime someone comes up to me speaking Spanish, i think of how much of a bad Mexican i am. but this scene always brought me comfort to see a little bit of the struggle of trying to connect to others within your community when you grew up in an assimilated household!
Agreed but assimilated doesn’t mean you have to only speak English that’s a fallacy. for example Gwyneth Paltrow raising her kids to speak spanish.
She’s literally just raising her kids, to speak Spanish. doesn’t mean her household is not assimilated into the country nor does not being able to speak your natal language make you any less of a Latina
Well your community is America and all the Americans speak English so you are good.
@@Spliced-y2k Some crazy woman teaching her kids Spanish isn't relevant.
Being part of a culture means taking an active role in the community and following traditions. We only see Amy at work so if she is participating we don't see it. Her not understanding her language isn't helping her case.
One of the best examples of this was in a show called "Rutherford Falls". In the show a native American expert wants help opening an museum. She thinks everyone is jealous that she left to go study at a fancy college. Her boss tells her that the reason they dont help her is that she never helps the community. She doesn't talk to them, help them, or know them. She cant be a spokesman for the people when she only has a superficial understanding of who her people are.
Now that im older i look for my community everywhere i go. Being able to speak Spanish with someone is like like catching up with an old friend.
Ntp pa nosotros no eres mexicana, eres una nosabo kid :P
4:08 Sandra vocalizing her judgement of Justine will always be my single favorite moment of the entire show. 🤣⚰️
I frigging love Sandra
I don't speak Spanish well, but I lost it at him complaining about the guy meowing.
Amy: "No"
Alex: "Pero de todas maneras, Amy. Personalmente, tu y yo vamos. Como familia. Te voy a presentar un sitio que te va a encantar. Yo entro ahí y la gente me conoce, y me dicen 'Hey, ¿Cómo estás?' y yo dijo 'Hey, How you doing?'. Así, yo entro ahí y son gente mía. Y es genial, porque yo llego a llamarte como quiera."
Amy: "Oh, fantástico. Sí, sí."
Alex: "Really?"
Amy: "Sí"
Alex: "Hey Amy, but that's a complete relief. Look, a guy here who works here, I don't know his name. But he sounds like a lively guy. Ehh, a guy like a cat sounds, meow , meow, meow, meow. Do you know who it is?
Amy: "No"
Alex: "But anyway, Amy. Personally, you and I are going. As a family. I'm going to introduce you to a place that you're going to love. I go in there and people know me, and they say 'Hey, how are?' and I said 'Hey, how you doing?' So, I go in there and they are my people. And it's great, because I get to call you whatever I want."
Amy: "Oh great. Yes, yes."
Alex: "Really?"
Amy: "Yes"
Excelente transcripción en ambos idiomas.Congrats!
Thanks. It really helps. Gracias
When he said "te voy a presentar a un sitio" it was just incomprehensible to me so I appreciate this
I miss this show more and more. Such a great episode and funny series
I miss getting new episodes. NGL I’ve probs watched each episode like 40 times. It’s the only show that you can’t get enough of lol.
1:54 this always really bothered me. Every time Latin food is shown on American TV they always say its spicy. Mexican food is literally the only Latin food thats known to be spicy. Maybe a few Guatemalan dishes have a little spice but almost all Latin food isnt spicy. Mexico has a lot of chili peppers that grow there, thats why it's spicy.
I am positive that the whole point of the conversation is that perceived identity and adjacency to whiteness is sometimes built on stereotypes.
Now that I read your comment I realize that I can’t think of a Mexican dish that I’ve eaten that wasn’t spicy.
Idk about that Peru has some spicy foods but i dont know about other countries
"Spanish food" in the USA is almost always Mexican food.
Me: "Is gazpacho on the menu??"
Gets WTF? looks from everyone
@@anonima4117 they have “some” every Latin country has some spicy dish but their cuisine isn’t known for being spicy. Spicy food is the exception to the rule in Latin food, not the standard.
one of my favorite bits 😂 i even had to stop and slow down when he was talking because he was going so fast and i couldn’t understand and I’m Mexican and speak Spanish myself lol 😆
When my Chilean parents moved to Miami, it took them a while to get used to Cuban and Dominican accents
@@emelyw9026 me and my homie Abraham who straight from Puerto Rico still can’t understand Cubans

He intentionally ran his words together to make it more difficult to understand. It's a joke.
@@hardnewstakenharder i know that’s what makes is so funny lol 😂
I speak Spanish and the first time i missed that he was talking about Glen!! The second time I watched it I caught it and lost it 😂😂😂. This is why i keep watching it over and over every time i rewatch the series i pick up some joke i missed.
It took me a couple of rewinds to finally understand "un restaurantico" lol
“It was a mess”
I died when he suddenly said “meow meow”
He was describing Glenn
she used the days of the week as filler (funniest part) and still couldnt name all of them this show is amazing
Making fun of Glenn in spanish 😂. He does sound like a cat meowing hahaha😂😂😂😂
lmao i didn’t realize until now
Lmao he’s Caribbean AF that spanish was so fast
I want a reunion episode or show so bad featuring ben and Americas characters. We need a jonah amy show or a dina garrett show
I want a Sturgis hardware store mini series w/Glenn, Cheyenne, & Matteo.
Or maybe that AND another mini series to go along with it about the warehouse/fulfillment center with Dina, Marcus, Sandra, & Justine. But Dina in real life has lost a ton of weight so that would be a weird change for her character.
@@Illigrown i know she has lost a lot. I did a double take. Originally i wanted a jonah amy wedding episode but the backyard scene where dina was bigger changed it a bit. Supposedly the bsckyard scene happened after they were married. But all of what i want is on america ferrera. She didnt want to do superstore anymore.
@@MrNeosoul65 yep, I felt that the writers were told half way through season 6 that they needed to wrap up the show bc they were being cancelled. It just totally felt rushed and out of nowhere for the show to end how it did. I personally loved the episodes that Amy wasn’t apart of - nothing against her, more so a compliment to the rest of the Incredible cast. I definitely feel like 1 or maybe even 2 more seasons was being prepared before they just got cancelled out of nowhere.
This show is not good enough for that.
Man, I love his Dominican accent. I think all Carribean Latinos speak super fast
mostly but they have their distinct styles, Gabriel Iglesias (comedian) tries to explain in one of his videos and it is quite funny
They really do haha
Amy is my favorite character in this show, because I'm half-chilean half-canadian, and I don't know Spanish very well. Every time I speak I'm afraid to make mistake or something like that, and it's really cool that people like me can identify to Amy
My whole problem with Amy and anybody who is latino on shows like Brooklyn 99 and Hollywood in general they stay pushing this Latina and white man love stereotype like there’s a problem with 2 Latinos falling in love we don’t see that with white or black characters that much. To me this just proves the problem of us Latinos and the racist phrase “mejorar la Raza” “make the race better” which encourages us to marry white people to make Latinos more light skin and that’s colorist as hell what’s wrong with a latino or Latina being with another latino or a black person? This just emphasizes our own racism in our own culture.
Don't worry, Chileans don't know Spanish neither.
Nah, I'm just joking about the fact words Chileans use are really weird and basically it's pretty hard to understand them when they speak LOL
As a Mexican with limited Spanish, since my parents hardly spoke it, I feel her pain lol.
Ok but Mateo is right, Amy is the Miranda one
what does this mean?
"Peter the black guy" LMAO
He said that he "knows this restaurant the people there are nice they great him like family ,interested in going sometime?"
he was asking her about a guy who works there who sounds like a cat whenever he speaks (i assume Glenn) and then after that invites her to go to a place, as a family, where he is well known to the point that he has a friendly nickname and therefore she could get a cute alias as well.
Hope it helped!
Don't feel bad if you didn't understand him even if you are learning spanish because that was really fast (centre american, my guess is dominican) that even native speakers from south america may find difficult to comprehend haha
Dominican is literally the hardest Spanish accent to understand.
Depends on where you’re from tho, I’m Cuban descent and our accent is not the same but does have Caribbean influence as well so Dominican accent is easier for me to understand than a mainland accent like Chilean for example
As a mixed Hispanic, I’ve felt the same embarrassment for not knowing Spanish despite taking so many classes over the years to try and learn because my family wanted me to. I would also like to point out that Burritos aren’t Mexican at all. They were made in California with taco ingredients. It’s like how Hawaiian pizza was made in New York, not Hawaii.
burritos are very much mexican. their exact origin is not really known but there are hints of people using tortillas to wrap food in an approximation of a burrito as far back as the mayans. many proposed origins exist but the only approximation of them being “made in california” was the restaurant that served them in the US for the first time which was in los angeles in the 1920s, but by that point they were already a common food in mexico
Burritos has been written about since 1895 in Guanajuato you dolt
To be fair, he was speaking Caribbean Spanish, which is hard for anyone to understand who isn't from the Caribbean.
I understood every word and I'm Mexican-American lol
On Amy's side I can understand when she said the days of the week. To Alex, [hot] beverage guys side "familia" and "meow meow" but maybe he also asked if Amy would like to meet his family(?)
We don't have Superstore in the available streaming apps in my SEA country.
almost hehehe
he invited her to go 'as family' to place where he was known and before that he was asking her about one employee who had a high pitch like a cat (assuming he referred to Glenn)
Can the wisdom of internet give us a transcript of what he said 😂
I was wondering why I had a harder time understanding his Spanish. He speaks Dominican Spanish. I speak Mexican Spanish. It sounds so different.
I'm trying to learn Spanish and it is Mexican Spanish. Compared to his it's like Mexican Spanish played in X2
Que Pasa Amigo Amy speaks the most Gringo Spanish to the Dominican guy.
I kind of agree with Dina here, "Peter" just doesn't sound like a black guy's name. I mean, almost every Spider-Man has been named Peter, but the first black Spider-Man got a different name.
This is one of the best comments I've ever seen.
It definitely feels like ur one level below where ever you should be....
3:08 he was just saying he was introducing himself to people like him with you
I had to re watch what the Dominican guy said. I'm puzzled like Amy
This Show is Amazingly Funny it deserves more views.
Im latino married to a white American woman.
She brake it down into 3 categories:
Mix Person: Latino and another race/ethnicity Parents.
Legit:Both Latino Parents but born in the USA or other country.
Authentic: Born in Latin America with Spanish as first Language.
I HAVE NEVER BEEN MORE SEEN!! As a 5th generation Mexican American.
As a Brazilian, i dont speak Spanish, but many people think so hahaah
When I adopt a kid, I want to make sure they can learn the language from the natural descent if they have one. It would suck to harbor that insecurity.
Learn a language because it’s useful to communicate regularly not because you share a skin tone and ethnicity.

Curious what Alex the beverage guy actually said? Any native Spanish speakers?
I’m just gonna try to translate the story he was telling, “Look someone who works here he sounds like an animal, like a cat *meows*” now ur gets foggy “I enter there and they know me hey how you doing they’re my people, and it’s good cause I wanted to take you” so he basically asked her to a restaurant he knows
he was asking her about a guy who works there who sounds like a cat whenever he speaks (i assume Glenn) and then after that invites her to go to a place, as a family, where he is well known to the point that he has a friendly nickname and therefore she could get a cute alias as well.

Really? I've never actually heard her speaking Spanish for more than just a couple phrases. And that's weird because she's Honduran-American, so I don't know why she would be in a Mexican soap opera...
Do you mean ugly Betty? She was in the American remake, I watched that whole show and I don’t remember her really speaking Spanish.
Why are you lying?

Okay but I need to know the truth about the preference being racist argument. I have a preference but that doesn't mean I would only sleep with that kind of race. I could sleep with anyone, I just find it easier to be sexually attracted to the ones I prefer.
Yeah just like I have a preference for brunettes, but that doesn’t mean I’m not attracted to other hair colors
If you prefer dark skin, that's fine. If you prefer black people, that isn't.

😂 I'm Argentine-Swiss and I'm proud to be able to speak both Spanish and German fluently. My younger brother though was just 3 when we came to Switzerland so his Spanish is not the best, but at least he can speak it very well. Although he can speak English fluently, but it's technically his 3rd language.😅
Being multilingual is awesome (and pretty common in Europe). If you and your partner speak different languages, raise your children speaking those. They learn so fast and easily. It's what parents are always told to do in Switzerland.
Wait so when jonah was pushing the double date and acting awkward it was because he had a thing for Amy???

What episode is this??? Please I’m searching so hard
I miss this show haha
I don't speak Spanish, but somehow I understood what the dude said. How weird is this?
yeah, as soon as anyone finds out you're not fully american or whatever, they immediately ask, 'can you speak whatever?' I was adopted from Russia but like, when I was 4. So no, I don't speak Russian anymore and neither does my sister. My parents are american and didn't know how to speak. they only spoke it while we were adjusting. I would like to but I have trouble sticking through things. but that doesn't make us any less than were we came from. I'm Russian. no arguement.

5:25 Adam,Tate, and Jonah
I could not get what he said!
The thing about her is that she picks her battles with their heritage she's not all in... Not only did she does not speak it fluently she does not understand it at all. She tries to stand up for the culture and tries to be a spokesperson of the culture but has no idea of the foods or music which is a huge part of our culture... women or men we both know how to cook very well. Her parenting a Latina mom would keep her kid in check
I think she knows about the food because they did talk about making tamales. Other than that that was about it. But it's also the same with Cheyenne she's Japanese and they never speak about it until she speaks one sentence of Japanese at her wedding.
Honestly I have mostly dated White Caucasian females and there was a time when that was the only females I dated and that does not make me less LATINO But I do Spanish though……
