Big Space closed down on Sunday, December 1, 2019. The reason given was that "...the landlords have decided to close the centre with a view to redeveloping their part of the site."
Lester, such a controlling egomaniac-It’s amazing to me how on all these makeover shows the owners are crying out for help and yet they stubbornly refuse to try anything different
?? Seriously folks, did he actually say 'can I get my shredder' to the IKEA branding/interior designer, (shown at 10:30) that has agreed to offer his valuable time, experience and TALENT to help this smug owner save a failed business... that designer Karl should have tore up his new designs in front of the cameras and walked out, after such a slap in the face! (That owner has a toxic attitude and he deserves to lose everything and live in a tent, under a bridge, where he and his massive EGO can be as miserable as they want, 24/7 all on their own.)
Are we not even gonna mention the grim external appearance of this business? Clean the parking lot, add some plants, paint at least the front facade bright blue to match the theme, and relocate the dumpster!
Thanks for this download and I am sorry to read the comments saying that the business folded after the landlord decided to take redevelope the property
I love to see how these people are able to make this mental map to direct us for the best sides of the room. It's so incredible smart, I love to see Karl imput and explanation.
Just came from the tearoom episode, he and Ray from that one should get together, birds of a feather and all that! The wives are the same as well, walking on eggshells, worrying about having an opinion, so as not to upset the apple cart. 'You can go in there, go ahead' he says in the parking lot, then she would have been berated afterward if she had! Yet another narcissistic business owner!
I enjoyed this very much and Lester said it all at the end: how he had changed along with his business. His staff were eager to change too. Alex worked wonders in the transformation of that once dire place. The comments do report the business has closed since. I wish Lester and his wife my best wishes xx
Only Four minutes into this we can see Alex had her work cut out for her, as usual. I wonder how he rates the "embarrassment " of going broke & losing his business ? "I'm not going to do this, this & this ". If everything as is , was working she wouldn't have been called to help them . There's a huge difference between being proud & being prideful. This should be good !
The owner is a self centred prat whose “pride” (i.e. ego) is way too big to run any business sensibly. His refusal to listen to Alex’s knowledgeable but common sense advice just reinforces that fact.
Who wants to go and spend an afternoon in an old run down metal shed ? not only its not clean inside its depressing and rusting on the outside. What a waste of 0.5 million pounds.
I don't know why the owners all act so indignant when it's suggested their business isn't very good... Obviously, that's why you took part in the programme
I’m really enjoying this series but I had to turn this one off way before the end. The owner is too proud and unwilling to accept that his ways were not working.
I enjoyed that and love the opportunities the business has.The networking for so many imaginative ideas is fun.Its a shame if ego gets in the way . However ego comes from competition, a healthy way for one. Around 40 yrs most people lose some ego I believe that's why they say life begins at 40 .
It seems they announced they would cease trading and close permanently on December 1st 2019. The owners stated the landlords decided to redevelop their side of the property. They don't seem to have relocated at another location.
What year did this program take place? And how long did it operate after Alex's makeover.?Comments indicate it closed just before Covid. maybe a smart business move
This man, like most of the "clients" on this show, is simply too foolish, STUBBORN and ego-driven to change. His wife is much more intelligent and open-minded.
Hey, they think that they were having tough economic times on these shows..............would love to have an update of how they are doing since corona virus hit.................

He refused to go and look at a similar business?? Because he knew the competition was better! Does he think the Polizzi family never looked at other hotels??!! Never stayed in another hotel to see what works and what doesn't?
And now his competitor, (and viewing audience) sees him hiding in the car like a coward. Wouldn't it have been smarter to go inside and check out the competitor.
Quite the opposite for me. I want to visit the UK because people express themselves more clearly. Alex is direct, but her choice of words always suit each situation.
Alex doesn't know how to talk to people. If you told a 'proud' man that you wanted him to play James Bond and do some corporate espionage, and ask him to stealthily spy on the competition and see what the competition stole from THEM and how the competition is stealing THEIR customers, you MIGHT have got the owner into the competitions' place. And they might have seen something they need to steal themselves and change. I'd have gone into the competition with a clip-board and approached parents telling them I was doing market research and ask them why they go to the competition's place and what the competition could change to make it a better experience. Then use those ideas. I'd do that even without Alex being involved. I'd also have asked children what they like and would like to see. Kids can surprise you with their ideas that parents don't think about. Kids will tell you trends among kids that the marketers don't necessarily know about.
I agree 100%. The competition researched the existing businesses before they swooped in and grabbed up all their customers. They didn’t pussyfoot around or apologize. Kill or be killed!
Did he just say " can I get my shredder" after Karl's proposal? How rude.
Bring back the SLAP!
What an egotist!
How bloomin rude! Smart ar$e creep

Yep, ask them "how is that working for you?"
@@cisforcoach9329 or, "If this is working so well, why am I here at all?"

DAMN!! Alex bringing them to the Blockbuster and giving them THE TALK - she brought out the big guns!!!!
"Alex, come and tell me why I'm losing money and fix it by magic, but I don't want to change anything at all." What an ungrateful knob.
Right? Jeez ... 😬

Karl - I love the way you "revision" all of these businesses and drastically improve these businesses 👍

Thanks for teh update. I wanted them to succeed...
He obviously contacted the show to get a free refurb. He got exactly what he wanted

Working in a place like this would be my ideal of hell

Pig headed. Thinks his dirty place is better.
Rude man...says he will go and get the shredder when handed the new designs by an experienced designer. Total prat.

He did come around in the end but he wasted a lot of Alex' time - the end result was fantastic for the business by the way

Permanently closed!
It seems they announced they would cease trading and close permanently on December 1st 2019. The owners stated the landlords decided to redevelop their side of the property. They don't seem to have relocated at another location.
That's too bad. After all that work.

@Jon Tibbatts well said!
This business in Harpenden closed. Bad reviews on tripadvisor. Not so smug now, Mr Know it all, prat.

Closed in 2019
What a surprise. Not.
Serve him right!!
His ego is his destruction
He refused to go and look at a similar business?? Because he knew the competition was better! Does he think the Polizzi family never looked at other hotels??!! Never stayed in another hotel to see what works and what doesn't?
The mothers would have been watching their little darlings and the business bosses probably wouldn't have known him from Adam - just another egotist
Bald men and their testosterone... Pathetic. And Alex should be awarded a life-size statue for her immense and angelic patience.
And now his competitor, (and viewing audience) sees him hiding in the car like a coward. Wouldn't it have been smarter to go inside and check out the competitor.
Or to go to another similar business in another city...
What a strange difficult man to deal with she should of walked away thanks for posting
❤❤❤❤❤
If the owners are that childish they can't even go into a competitor's venue...they deserve to fail....and I'm sure they will
What is wrong with this guy?!!!
EGO
front of the place needs a paint
pret has now been found out for not paying their staff properly
honestly hate this space. i wouldn't want to spend 5 minutes in there.
Every time I watch her I’m greatly discouraged and no longer wish to go to England! Gah!
