I was at the 1988 telethon and remember Patea maori club with Dalvanius Prime. Awesome to see some of the Kuia who back then were younger. This song was the highlight of the night back in 1988 along with Haere mai sung by Cara Pewhairangi (Ngoi's) grand-daughter.
I rang the Hits radio station and asked them to play Ngoi ngoi, I knew it would not be one of their mainstream song choices but worth asking.
