I cut my cord so I wouldn't have to suffer legacy media and drug commercials. Good riddance.
The drug commercials will still find you on your phone or on your Apple TV… It’s impossible to escape them.
my TV antenna pulls in all my local channels free. more people should try it.

I did. Found out that they turn the antenna at different hours to cover the I-5 corridor. I would have great reception certain hours of the day, and no reception at others. I am only a few miles from the dang antenna, but it is facing the wrong friggin way! 😡 I ended up just going to my local news website and playing the videos from there. I still get the top stories, and NO COMMERCIALS!

I’ve been using my antenna for 20 years. It is an ultra high definition antenna that I paid $120 for. What do you pay for a Cable per month?
@@see9034 zero. I don't have cable. Everything I want to watch I find on the internet for free. My company pays for my internet.
Cord cutting is cable cutting. If the cable companies weren't so greedy, forcing consumers to buy bundles of channels they won't watch saturated with advertising and at outlandish prices to feed shareholder profits, then cord cutting wouldn't have become an issue.
Why do you think they bundled channels to begin with, Mensa? They had to sell you something you would buy, at a CHEAPER price, than in the old days of cable. You pay less now than you ever did, for any kind of media. Just look at the hours of work you would have had to do to pay for cable in the 90's or earlier. It's no contest.
Yet you are still paying more to live. Why? Because EVERYONE is being charged more via government expenses and regulation. The government produces less than nothing, hence its budget. If you're dumb enough to buy their nonsense, you'll pay well beyond what any private company could ever charge you, and you'll pay the government that taxes everyone on top of that.
They can't sell you what you don't need or want.....get off the couch

I cut the cord 9 years ago and haven't missed a thing. Streaming is great. Also, cable didn't bring more quality to life which wasn't already available for free by antenna before cable. @@arcdecibel9986

We can't afford it and also we HATE ads. When streaming becomes oversaturated with ads we will quit that too.
I put up a $60 antenna. I get all my local stations again without having to pay $135 a month to Comcast.

Congress needs to pass laws to allow consumers to pick individual channels since the courts have ruled that cable providers can require bundles.

@@shaystern2453 I've cut the cord and use antenna. But there are millions getting deceived and manipulated by cable networks masquerading as news sources because they have to have cable for their favorite channels.

Many people can pick up local news over a broadcast antenna. Satellite and cable providers charge and exorbitant rate to pick up local news that should be obtained freely over the air. In response to the Biden economy, people are attempting to cut costs, and they are now electing to obtain local news over an antenna.

Consolidating media to rid conflicting voices. A lot of communities lack involvement,because people don’t wanna see what’s going on,when if they don’t like it ,they can just scroll until they find something billion miles away they do. Twenty four hour rainbows,while they eat your lunch right in front of you. Local can spark conversations,when different sides come together to say what the F.rather than not mattering what you say at all.

I can't pay the enormous fees charged by streaming services to get access to MSNBC cable channel. The best I'm going to get is small clips like this from this MSNBC UA-cam channel.
Local stations would be an option if I had an outdoor antenna. Because I live in an apartment complex, there is no outside antenna. My indoor antenna only picks up one local station.
I subscribe to local newspapers. Don’t expect me to pay greedy cable companies just to get local channels. Local channels here rarely investigate anything - they just run feel good crap. Sorry.
Pretty much. Everyone use AP for their news feed on anything not local, while the local story part of the news is maybe 5 minutes. The newspaper covers more stories, but now nobody reads it, or they read it online. They don't even deliver the paper to our house anymore we have to go and get it at the nearest distributor. No more to your door subscriptions. And, there are pretty much just two papers here, The Register Guard, and The Oregonian. The Guard covers the Willamette Valley and the Oregonian covers the Portland metro area. Both have a bit of a political bias about certain things. I find that I am prone to being in the dark about local issues because of all this.
So there isn't enough checks and balances in local government to overcome corruption without local new reporters?

I cut the cord from cable last week and saved a lot of money. I don’t watch it much because most programming these days is junk. I’m sick of the 24 hour news cycle. Take Fox for example: it has brainwashed so many people.

I am in the Lexington Ky market. The local Fox station has their news covering the national news time slot. Their news is absolutely biased and in my opinion a direct assualt on truth in journalism.
