Hello. Can you tell me what the niches or shelving holes for on the walls? Is that where they would place a lantern or simply a display shelf? I'm just wondering what the original function of those spaces would be. Great video, beautiful property, btw.
Hello! The functions of these niches could have been quite varied. They might originally have been small slits or windows that were later sealed up, or as you rightly said, some could have been used as supports for lanterns. The narrow, long ones, on the other hand, were arrow slits for archers.
