Oklahoma State PG Marcus Smart is one of the best in the College game right now, and easily could've been a Lottery Pick this year. Smart straight rips defenders, as he set the Big 12 Freshmen Record for Steals this past season. Here's him back home in Texas from College dominating an Open Gym & Training Session.
I love the grit pickup games when your taking someone one on one and you guys both trash talk but respect eachother
I loved that last play, where they we're almost beating each other and ended in a hug. That's the attitude, pure healthy competitiveness and toughness.
I like this player, good option for my Celtics if they don't get a top 3 pick, considering Rondo and Bradley might be leaving the team.
Sorry for my bad english tho :)
that's the fun part about playing against a great player in practice. you know he'll be doing that for your team in a real game
It was smart who was dropping the f bomb.. I believe that all of the sportsmanship was coming from the other dude
Myles Oliver You guys realize that that's not called basketball right? There's called a foul. You can get mad because that dude that was guarding him knew he was about to get shit on, that's what players do when someones better. Foul.
your gay
Love the respect at the end!
Ballers should know not to take things too personal.
They could be friends outside. But, on the court, they are enemies.
When did basketball players start looking like running backs..
I like the ending. At the end of the day you have to retain your composure. Good sportsmen-ship.
Marcus Smart was my favorite player to watch when he was in college
I like that respect at the end after the tussle take some notes NBA
I remember when marcus was still in college and he played texas tech. dude is a beast
Love that at the end, not many players can battle on the court and leave it there now-a-days. Its not personal its competitive nature for the game.
Shout out to Tyler Relph for putting in work and showing the ELITE players out there how to work hard and stay humble! Good to see him and his trainers working with Marcus Smart.
his game looks so smooth! i love watching him do those dribble moves
I have played on that same court where he was practicing at. And I went to almost all of his high school games. He is honestly an amazing player.
No point in comparing him to anyone because no one is like him. He's gonna be an amazing player and is already one of my favorites
Still watching this so many years later
from the little bit I saw dude can be a beast, it's up to him.
He will be a SG in the nba. Hes not quick enought for the pg position in the NBA. If the Celtics draft him he will be a SG witch I think it will benefit him.
he's a better shooting version of tyreke evans
***** have u seen J kidd in his early days tho, dude was as quick and as fast as they come. he ran circles around MJ and pippen in his rookie year. there are footages on youtube. peace out.
***** Jason Kidd is pass first. he doesnt need to be quick. he can get u with hesitations and smart I.Q playing. U dont need quickness, quickness is just a advantage against defender. Remember when shaq crossed M.J at All-Stars? he used hesitations
I miss you KG! :,( (Celtics fan)
Look at michael carter williams
I love playing with dudes like that. Go HAM and be cool at the end. Only way to be.
this mixtape is fuego
Marcus Smart is 6'4, 220 pounds, athletic, a great finisher near the rim, and he is a lockdown defender POINT GUARD he will be a beast in the NBA.
This aged real well tbh
This guy is a two way player and a leader whoever drafts him next year will get a stud player, could fly under the radar with all the hype surrounding Wiggins, Randle, Harrison's, etc
Welcome to Boston! :-)
He's Nice Af, definitely watching him on the Scouting report
Marcus will be a savage he's still young & Locks every point guard down . 6'4 225 no body wants to play against him already & he's just getting started mark my words
Very true!
I like his maturity and dedication to the game. He's was the only "pre-Madonna" freshman to realize he wasn't ready for the league last year. He stayed and fine tooned his shooting. Now he the best player in the country.
So is he better than Point guards like D rose and westbrook at his age or like is he up there with them to be comparable.
James Watts-Abrams naw he's not DRose/Westbrook good. still has a lot to improve on. when DRose and Westbrook came into the league as rookies they were much more polished than Smart.
what i love about him the most is that he's 6'4"... NBA ready body
I liked this video and I'm a Kansas fan. I'm also a fan of Smart's game. Dude's got scary-good talent.
his handles are off the charts
For some reason he kinda reminds me of Deron Williams
Or shae cotton
Rudy Martinez u remember nate James that played for Duke?
Crazy talent and that ballhandling dooooh
Plus.. with this criticism about his shot.. He will shine that up, and many who say his ball handling skills aren't good enough, do not know what they're seeing. He makes the team entirely better, he is demanding. He has the fundamentals. He brought that school the passion and excitement back basketball. He single handed dominated Kansas. I could go on and on.
I've seen him play a lot and he is very physically strong but his athleticism is quite underrated, he goes up for 360 between the leg dunks like its nothing in warm ups all the time plus his defense is second to none
@ 0:35 I made this my signature move back in 8th grade when this video first came out.
Wayne Selden vs. Marcus Smart is going to be a CRAZY matchup
He's a young DWill forreal. Big body, very quick, jumper wet... he's going to be a solid pro.
if only he was this good in 2k XD
Man I gotta add that behind the back dribble after the step-back. That looks like cash
This guy is a tank and fast as hell, Celtics with him and Avery Bradley would be a smash mouth guard duo.
Bradly is trash offensively and if anything would take his position at starting shooting guard
I could see him being a Deron Williams type, he's got the handle and strength. Plus dude's a great defender
Good comparison but his passing is no where near what deron william
s was at this same point of their careers. He's definitely capable of becoming a more athletic Gary Payton.
@@805fillmore7 hit it on the head my boy
dude got a sick game. nice handles too.
Next great point guard in the NBA. He has a true leader mentality unlike alot of the athletic point guards we see. I think he will be the second best player in the draft outside of wiggins.
His game is similar to Tyreke Evan's game.
That's not really a good thing.
yea 1st impression was tyreke evans. which is not good at all. hopefully he doesnt play PG at the next level like tyreke. his jumper already looks better than reke tho
Respect at the end ... thumps up
Yo...Marcus Smart is the new D-Wade! Real Talk..they play the exact same way brah...wow! He is gonna be a dope as pro...he got made game...definitely a lottery pick.
0:44 *Marcus Smart* probably has the best foot work. Man!
I can see a ring a two he's a winner that's his best attribute
I love how he goes hard in the game then seems very cool after it. Good ol competetive physical game. Hate lame dudes acting tough on the court then get butt hurt after losing
Wow great handles and quickness is amazing
Exactly, similar issue with strength and hops. Shaq and Lebron don't just have some secret weight training program that nobody knows about. Lebron, shaq, jordan and wilt (in no particular order) are probably the most blessed players of all time.
Such a Beast!!! He's too strong.
that dude is solid
wow look how good he is in drills...
I see a lot of comments comparing Marcus with others. You guys just need to know the dude is flat out a winner. Doesn't matter if you are playing in the park, the gym, Olympics, OSU, or whomever is lucky to get him in the pros. He will play and impose his will on who he plays. Not flashy, but as tough as they get and brings his lunchbox every day. So, quit comparing and enjoy an original boys. Peace.
This guy is going to be a star.I was hopeing bulls get him he play like lbj
prob play a 2 guard . like in the dion waiters d wade mold
NOW THIS GUY IS WHAT YOU CAN CALL "NBA READY"
1:28 Sportsmanship at its finest
Look at jason kidd, he was slower than most point guards in the nba when he was a player, and now he is arguably the best point guard to ever play the game.
Marcus Smart will beast everybody once hes in the nba
love his style!
Kid is phenomenal
Damn he got some sick handles.
thats a big dude
what im sayin
his a man among boys!!!!
damn he looks sharp, all the skills.
he's going to the NBA.
He had that option yet declined. Was projected to be a top 5 pick this year. Not sure why he chose to return to OK State, but there'll be no complaints in Stillwater.
Kevin Durant said "Hard work beats talent when talent doesn't work hard."
And to me, this guy is focused and works a whole lot harder on his game than most I've seen.
NBA here he come
Dude seems strong, easily stronger than most SG's in the NBA.
Lol damn he ran into a brick wall when he tried to back down though. Dope player still but that particular part was funny
Every1 is set on andrew wiggins being the no1 pick next year but this guy has a real shot at it especially if andrew doesnt have the dominate year like everyone expects him to have
beal and waiters are doing pretty good at the sg position.
he is a beastttttttttttttttttttttttttttttttttttttt
Basketball is not all about speed, he has enough speed, plus he correctly uses his size.. You know what he has that many basketball players don't? A dominate first step. With his IQ and overall skill set of the game, he will be just fine. I scrimmaged against him.. He instinctively knows the game. He was a pro before college. Plus he has that star aura about him. He is a winner. The NBA will be a fit for him.
Mad dribbling skills... just keep that belly line in check, he will be ready for the next step.
Beast mode
And Talent!!!!
u aint never lie bout that
He reminds me of a D wade, hopefully my Celtics will get him with our 6th pick, he definitely is going to play the SG in the NBA, I doubt he will be playing the PG
At 0:18 that's the High School I went to back when I was in Middle School Marcus Smart went to Marcus that's cool he was in Flower Mound I was in Lewisville
His hop steps were travels there. He didn't skip he just flat out jumped
RedDynamt3 and why is exactly is that illegal?
*He's ready.*
your picture made me hit my screen
doing pretty decently in the nba
Not from a speed, quickness, and jumping standpoint, but he obviously is very skilled.
healthy competition
:52 Damn, cuddy tried to go for his. If he had pulled that off, he'd have the video of his life.
He kinda reminds me of Rose. Not by size but speed, and the way he plays.
He's called a "tweener". Not enough quicks for a PG, not enough height for a SG. Gonna be tough/nearly impossible at the next level.
Dwyane Wade was lightning quick and has almost a 7 foot wingspan. What's Smart's wingspan? I think Smart will be good in the NBA, though.
WINNER
wade was pretty quick in his prime. He was called "Flash"
plenty of guys like that or better at your local ball park well at least one at every park. good luck Marcus
Shouldve entered this years draft
Completley agree danny
and now he's a bench warmer
Oh my god !! I wish I had handles like that , I'm the same height as his but I can't dribble
Dude is a beast!!!!! Looks like we have 1 hater with the thumbs down!! lol
Man he reminds me of some sort of d-rose, lebron james cross. I think he will be the Damien Lilard of this years draft. I just hope he goes to a team where he can be, "the man"
Dang, I was getting crossed up just watching!
