South Indian Street Food in London: Palak Paniyaram, Dal Vadas, Onion Bhajis and Dosas by Dosa Deli.

- ✓ On our annual "Foodie Pilgrimage" to the yearly Alchemy festival we always seek out the "Dosa Deli" street food stall; because we always love a freshly made dosa and these guys never fail on the authenticity of the taste factor.
Another reason that we look forward to seeing them is that every time we see them they always have some new items on their menu; inspired by their travels in South India, this time they had the following new menu items': they were serving up freshly made; Palak (Spinach) Paniyaram (Chetinadu Kulipaniyaram, famous Tamilnadu dish), Crunchy Dal Vadas' and Onion Bhajias (Pakoras).
We are very much honoured to see these guys again, because they are inspired by beautiful Mother India and the pavement kitchens that provide sustenance for its many inhabitants with the cheapest and tastiest of freshly made food anywhere. Also to mention the inspiration of the street characters creating food that is blessed by hand and human touch and further energised and charged by positive thoughts.
You'd be forgiven if you thought that this is a Indian Street Food stall (or "Lari") somewhere on the busy, bustling streets, beaches or restaurants of India - astonishingly these White English (Angrezi) guys were making these Indian treats in the heart of "Proper London" - making them freshly to order and serving them piping hot within a matter of minutes.........delicious restaurant quality food; but at affordable street food prices - with no service charge added !!!
Unlike some places there is nothing hidden and no secret to the recipe because everything is made in full view of customers.
Wala (Wallah) = Someone specializing or working in a specific occupation or activity i.e. Chai Wallah, Rickshaw Wallah, Kulfi Wallah etc.........
If you remember we have caught up with these "Dosa Wallahs" at previous years Alchemy Festivals (here's links to videos we made of them then; 2014: • "Spicy Paneer Dosa" wi... & 2016: • Chilli Cheese (Paneer)... )
"Mr & Mrs Dosa" (aka Amy and Kristian) are "Master Dosa Makers" having travelled in India & Asia, whilst along the way gleaning tasty secrets, hints & tips from expert cooks & chefs with the ultimate aim of creating delicious masterpiece recipes.
Dosa Deli can be found serving dosas' at various locations in London & festivals (such as Glastonbury) in the U.K. if you are planning to visit them; send them a message to find out when & where they are trading.

You can go many times to India and love it every moment of your time spent there, (but you're always sad in the knowledge that India only exists in India and nowhere else) the sights you see, the sounds you hear, the people you meet (in India); all serve to feed you not just physically but also emotionally and spiritually. So when we come across guys such as this, we humbly raise our hat and take a bow because they have not only given us just a snack but also given us a taste of back home.
These guys have perfected and mastered the "art of dosa making".......as always, all the dosas we eat from these guys are absolutely delicious, we would go as far as to say that these guys are "Dosa Making Master Chefs".
A special thank you to Kristian, Amy & all the Dosa Deli team who very much welcomed us and graciously allowed us a privileged glimpse into their kitchen to do the videoing even though they were extraordinarily busy.
We would love to see these guys have their stall somewhere in Camden Lock or Stables Market.
This video recorded on various days in May 2017 at the Alchemy Festival at the Southbank, Waterloo, London.
The 10 day Alchemy Festival this year was from Thursday 18th May to Monday 29th May 2017 (bank holiday Monday) as the Southbank Centre Square was once again transformed into a magical, bustling Indian Street Food market.........it was truly a feast for the senses !!!
We are a little saddened that the annual festival "Desi" Indian street food market is this year only for 5 days.
Other Street Food vendors at the festival were as follows:
Curry Shack.
Dosa Deli.
Horn OK please.
Indians Next Door.
Peckish Peacock.
Zouk
Baba g's Bhangra Burger.
Bun Kabab.
Chaatit - Bombay Toasted Sandwiches.
Kothu Kothu.

How clean they cook even for street foods...
omkar hegde yah as our people or not aware of cleanliness in India
depends on the place you're living in..Cost of living in London is comparitively much much higher than in a south indian city like chennai. So i doubt that they make a lotta profit but rather do it out of the love for food
Ya we people are different u know 🤕🤕🤪🤪🤪🤪
@@m.nithinkumar2150 one can afford 5 star with 300 rs bro.
if the guy didnt use hands, its clean. i wondered what's wrong if we (indians) use hands while cooking and then i realised these guys doesnt even use their own hands to eat. so hands matter :p :D
OMG..soon India have to get copy right for precious Indian food recipes..lol😄
The reason he made that statement is because recently the company Lays filed a suit against the farmers of India for copying the way they cultivate potatoes when in reality they were using the technique for generations.
Ya its kuzhi paniyaram in tamil nadu
Do ever India Copyright Yoga and meditation.?
Nooooo
It's obviously Indian food ...but it's a south Indian food....we have lot of traditional foods
Patent
They are selling healthy Indian food. In India we are eating pizza burger like unhealthy junk food.
srsly yaar
100% correct!!!!!
Healthy food is available everywhere. Maybe you are just too dumb to find that in India.
i agree with mickey mouse, and since when is pizza unhealthy?
it depends how much you can pay. 😐
I appreciate these English ppl making south Indian recipes....can't help but I feel proud being a south India.....good jog guys 👏👏

Any one here from south India like me
I like that dosa with potatoe curry in middle and the sambur stuff don't like coconut though or the oil as it stinks and not for my pallette. Also struggle with the seafood bit
The only country with loads of vegetarian foods... Proud of India
So nice to see foreigners cooking our Authentic dishes
🤩
🇮🇳
The way they are serving food , cleanliness and hygien, really appreciate their efforts. Love from India
That's why it's London n they know it 😁
These Brits managed to make an Indian food more hygienic and well organized than most Indians do.
Just saying!
Dude it's all about personal choice man..n where u want to eat and find the taste that suits ur taste buds..I would definitely take a street chai anytime over a chai from a hotel/restaurant..same goes for street food in general..it's cheap and tasty..n we have no problems with the surrounding n my stomach has no problems or the surrounding doesn't concerns me unless it's too dirty but that's not the case with white folks (not saying they r in some way superior or our stomach is more superior it's simply how it's is)..plus it's easier for the maker of it to open it with minimum requirements not to spend on extra accessories..and it's easier for the one eating it for so many reasons..I am sure even u can understand that..like easiness out weigh way too much thus that style is followed here...
I never knew Masala Dosa can be translated to Pancake Wraps...

The guy making dosas was unbelievable..😮
Delicious food. And again, a very impressive kitchen set-up, thanks for sharing
while Here in India youngdters are going mad for coke and. pizza there in London.. this is the situation... human beings are always after a change in every aspect S of life and only healthy changes will be worth it.. otherwise it's going to be fatal...
POORNIMA CHIKKALINGAIAH To be fair, in the UK, we love (and can get hold of) pizza, pasta, kebabs, curries, pies, fajitas, noodles, sandwiches, pancakes, paellas, burgers, chips, sushi etc So, on the whole, the UK is culinarily non-partisan.
People consume A LOT more junk food in the UK than in India lol.
POORNIMA CHIKKALINGAIAH unlike in South-india ; there In North-India they pple take the away the Sough of Western^foods like Pizza, burger's etc. Because they use to prepare it on the streets... just how they cell Panipuri, chat on a Trollyvehicle.😤 I'mean complete North places like Delhi, Punjab, Haryana etc. 😋
U have no idea how mad are westerners for those pizzas Cole u mentioned 😂. India isn't right now much at poor diet conditions tho unhygienic preparation and ingredients add flaws to it
POORNIMA CHIKKALINGAIAH fatal means everyone is going to drop dead one after the other? 😂
It's so encouring to watch these youngsters cooking traditional Indian dishes. Most impressed. I can imagine how aromatic the spices must be in that tent. Well done all round. Thanks for sharing.
