    Thanks for this but the obvious follow-on question is: How much money should you hold back and borrow, then? You keep saying a "decent amount" - can you put it in dollars or %? I'm sure it depends on a lot of factors --- but could you unpack those so we could apply to our situations and compute it ourselves? Understanding you cannot give any guarantee - is $50K generally a "decent" amount to have liquid after purchasing a home? Or $25K? Or $10K? You've made clear that homeownership is extremely costly and unpredictable - it would be helpful to have more numbers around these sentiments. Thanks!
