    Utterly brilliant and tragically underrated piece of guitar work. Dude had people convinced he was using an octave pedal for decades, when he was just doing it manually, and all with a slide on his pinky. One of the greatest rock riffs of all time, couched in a silly bit lovable song ❤️ You rock Greg, thanks for doing this video.

    This is a fantastic video. Jungle Love was always complex until playing it the proper way in Open A tuning. Amazing!

    Tryning to figure out this song drove me nuts. It is so great to see the guy who first did it. Thanks so much for posting this. Tip of the cap to all.

    I knew this song was in an open tuning! The Stones-esque phrasing gives it away. In the Hal Leonard Steve Miller anthology book, the transcriber wrote it out in standard tuning. What a nightmare to try and play it that way. This makes so much more sense and many thanks to Greg for sharing how to play it correctly, especially the fills and those chord voicings on the chorus.

    I was Greg's roadie from 1987 until 1992, those were some fun times. As far as Jungle Love goes listen to the original by Mistress called Paul words and vocals by Brian Kilcourse, drums by Bill Baron, and guitar by Greg Douglass

      Song was sped up which makes it harder to get proper tuning an sound
      When ya slow a song down the tuning changes.

    • @srwaite7
      @srwaite7 Місяць тому

      The tone is killer and he only mentions the “sqonk” of the guitar pickups in the vid. Sounds like a cocked wah to my ears but it’s not that. Perhaps we can get more insight on the amp and tone settings. 🤔

    • @HamsterSpanks
      @HamsterSpanks Місяць тому

      @srwaite7 It's diffinently reminiscent of the cocked wah thing, but to me, not as intense as a actual parked wah.

  • @Bob.Silverstein

    Curious what gauge strings he uses to tune up a whole step on a few strings without snapping any strings... Keith is tuning down to G. Much easier. Sounds amazing though!

We had a little conversation in the comments about it, super happy he approved. ua-cam.com/video/7kh6xSjOzv8/v-deo.html Thanks for having the man show it himself though - super creative and timeless guitar part.

      Greg Douglass was the ONLY other Guitarist- credited or not- as a co-lead Guitarist w/Hot Tuna & so for about 6 months until he suggested that Jorma take care of the rhythm guitar work & he takes the Leads. He's still the only Guitar Player who's co-credited on anything w/the original Hot Tuna.
