The Calypso is incredible. As a kid, I used to watch Cousteau's TV show every week and was fascinated by their adventures and lead me to get SCUBA certified myself later. It is a beautiful model.

I was gifted the Calypso kit for Xmas... like I need ANOTHER kit to work on. I was excited that you could have been doing a Calypso build. Calypso is by far my favorite boat!

Great video again . I would paint the Neptune white and have black deck tread on the top . But Merry Christmas to you Bob and the family .

Make sure that the ballast control board works too. Mine failed about a year ago, just as I'd decided to treat my Neptune to a new battery!

Very nice Neptune boat, and sounds like you made the right decision on that one. $75 I got ripped off, lol. Merry Chrismas.

my neptune has that same prop bob and i am planning on replacing the drive shaft to accept threaded props so i can have a bigger selection of props. That stock shaft is just a flat/setscrew setup. I wish i had seen that on fleabay, i wouldve snagged it up as well. I replaced my sla battery with a lipo and had to add A LOT weight to get her back into trim. i also replaced the front diving planes with some of my old rc helicopter paddles that helps with faster dive times lol. The best upgrade hands down though was switching out that 75mhz receiver for a pcm receiver (72mhz) and swapping out that crap ace esc thats really only rated for 9volts for a modern lipo rated esc. Before the pcm rx swap it glitched to high heaven but on pcm its rock solid. BUT, if anyone converts from a sla to a lipo with their neptune you MUST adjust the battery voltage cutoff as it will be ridiculously to low for lipos.

If you want to go lithium, perhaps consider using LiFe Po4 batteries. Four of those give you 12.8volts, closer than 3s Lipo at 11.1volts.

I built an RC model boat/ship/sub simulator for VR so I could play even when the weather is bad. The second volume has Calypso and a Type-VII U-boat: ua-cam.com/video/WJYFwKBYClc/v-deo.htmlsi=QcaGgRtPRVnCfLUR&t=23

    Hi Bob
Can you still get parts for the Neptune?
