I really liked your reaction, and you were right, Gustavo refused to get on the helicopter without taking the memories of his friends, it was a way for them to return to them, even if it was in an object that represented them, he wanted to take those objects to the families of those who died, and so it was, some objects are in the position of the families and others were donated by the same families to the museum in Uruguay about the accident. I'll give you the link so you can see how similar the chosen actors were to the real people, even in the final credits they put the names of the actors but the photo of the real person he represented ua-cam.com/video/L7TT2nWkjso/v-deo.htmlsi=-gBFXq6v5rtXNcEv

Hello , greetings from Argentina. Thank you for such emotional reaction. You are a very sensitive person. One more thing: there are some cameos of the real survivors: Numa' s home is the real one. The neighbour who greets Numa on the street is one of Numa's nephews. Nando is the man who opens the door at the airport for Nando and his family. Carlitos Paez plays his own father reading the list of survivors. The doctor who carries Roberto through the crowd at the hospital is the real Roberto, who is a doctor himself. And some other cameos too.

I always felt they should have listed Abal as Panchito because this is the second or third reaction I’ve seen where they heard them say Pancho died and are confused that it’s Pancho Delgado. I think Nando even calls him Panchito early on so it wouldn’t have been too much to change that.

When you compared eating flesh to Last Supper that was on point - this is exactly what survivors did after they returned, when they told public about their exprience!
Apparently there were few men called Pancho on plane, hence confusions.

    Some facts about the movie:
Three of the survivors made cameos in the movie:
    - Fernando "Nando" Parrado: opens the airport door to his character at the beginning of the movie.
    - Roberto Canessa: Plays a doctor when they are received at the hospital because he is a doctor in the real life.
    - Carlos Paez Rodríguez: Represents his own father (Carlos Paez Vilaró) when he reads the list of survivors reading the name of his own son (“Carlitos Miguel Paez, my son”).
    - The house where Numa arrives is the real Numa's house and the walker is a Numa's nephew.
    - The suitcase that Gustavo Zerbino didn't want to leave in the Andes was full of belongings of the deceased that he took to their respective families.
    - The actors underwent a diet under strict medical supervision so that their bodies would more realistically reflect the effects of what the survivors went through.
    - The survivors and the families of those who passed away say that this movie is much more faithful to the real events, unlike the film 'Alive!' which was more of a spectacle than a tribute. In addition to changing the names of the characters, they altered almost the entire story.
    - All the survivors (except for 2 who died in 2015 and 2023) are still alive. You can search for their accounts on Instagram.
    - The location of the accident (Valle de las Lágrimas [Valley of Tears]) can still be visited today, starting from Argentina (as it is a substantially shorter journey): it takes several days on horseback and hiking through the mountains. It requires several days of planning and good physical condition.
    - They were there for 72 days. On the first day of rescue, they took some of them and a group of rescuers stayed who set up a tent a little away because of the smell. The next day they rescued the others.
    Hugs from Argentina. 🤗

@davidholaday2817 Yes, but to say "I see it" (lo veo) would be a literal translation to the Spanish audio, but the subtitles are not in Spanish, so the answer follows the grammatical way of answering the question in English: "I do" which at the end of the day means the same because "I do" es la forma corta y correcta de responder a la pregunta como se preguntó: can you see it? I do (see it) - lo ves? lo veo. No es una traducción literal, pero es la correcta gramaticamente para el texto en inglés y para alguien de habla inglesa significa 'lo veo'

One more thing. What happened to Nando is almost unbelievable. He suffered some brain damage, and because they thought he wouldn’t survive they put him at the edge of the plane with his head practically on the ice. On the other hand he practically didn’t drink anything. But doing that it saved his life. Science discovered later on, that is the best treatment for a brain injury. Well, honestly, i think they discovered that, because in the ‘70 if they had rescued them right away and Nado taken to an IC, he wouldn’t have made it because the treatment was different. A few years ago they did a brain scan on Nando and they could see all the fractures that fixed by themselves.

One of the most beautiful facts about this movie is that it gives the ones that couldn't come back a voice** previous movies mostly focused on the survivors and the fact they had to eat dead bodies but this one focuses more on the friendship, the bond between ALL of them and honors the memories of the dead friends. This movie is a masterpiece indeed.
PS according to all survivors Numa's death was like the last push they got to try once more; to go on for the rest. Until this day you can tell they all get emotional when they mention everyone but especially Nuna cauae (quote) "he gave everything for the rest" and the paper he was holding when he died said that. That really happened. It broke me to know that. " There is no greater love than to give one's life for our friends"😢

The film is a cinematic masterpiece, not only because of the aesthetics, art, photography, make-up or script, but because they managed to tell the story as real and truthful as possible, to the point that the survivors actively participated in it and say that when they see it they relive in their minds everything that happened. It is wonderful the way in which Bayona manages to show the harshness of what happened with an artistic touch and a strong emotional charge and for the first time not only highlighting the figure of the survivors as heroes but also those who died and did not make it out of the mountain, which is why Numa's voice as narrator is so important. Each of the actors met the real person they were playing and most of them managed to create a bond with them, moving from interpretation to reality and giving the importance it deserves to what each survivor felt, because as they have already said, each one remembers the mountain in a unique way. THANKS FOR REACTING! It's not getting a lot of attention from reactors :(

I feel like this is one of the best UA-cam movie reviews (of this particular film) that I've watched! It's a masterpiece of a film and one of my favorites. I really appreciate your sensitivity and sentiment towards the film and the plight of the characters. Your emotion towards the deaths of Numa and Marcelo are quite moving as those events moved me as well. I appreciate your contributing thoughts and I'm looking forward to checking out more of your movie reviews.

Couple of facts about the survivors, today 14 of the 15 are still alive, also the dead were all buried right there in the mountain in a common grave(they did not ate all of them) but one of the corpses was retrieved, illegally by his dad, his dad paid people to take him there, and they dug it out and took the body back to uruguay. Also, about them worrying if eating the flesh was a sin... the pope wrote a telegram to them after it was made public that they ate human flesh, the pope congratulated them on their courage, and told them that they did what a good christian should do, to live, because god put us on the earth to live, and not to have eaten would had been almost like suicide.

Alfredo is the name of two of Numa’s friends, Alfredo Ciblis and Alfredo Delgado. Alfredo Delgado is also called Pancho and he is one of the survivors. Alfredo Ciblis is shown at the beginning talking about going on the trip but ultimately, and what I felt was an oversight on the part of the filmmakers, decided not go on the trip. No idea why they didn’t mention this briefly because it does cause a little confusion!

Like any other movie there's some changes. For example at the end when it was time to rescue them it was difficult and dangerous. The president at the time knew the risk and still he goes for it. That place is dangerous for a plane and even more dangerous for an helicopter but still the pilots tried and failed so they had to travel to Argentina and tried from there. They split the survivors into two groups because the helicopters weren't big enough and they needed little weight to rescue them succesfully. The ones with better health had to wait and no bags were allowed for any of them. The man who sit in the suitcase is still alive and he told the story of that case. The pilot said to him no you cannot bring that with you so he sits on it in protest and after a while the pilot says to him ok you can but one of rescuers had to stay in the mountain instead. Of course someone pick him up later. I'm sure the end is a bit different because otherwise the movie whould be longer.
