one bit to the Urbie k9, it is fairly cheap for a hero mech, can be purchased from the beginning and is a source for dhs and Uac5 before they are a thing. So Buy dismantle sell.
People should also keep in mind, these are just stock loadouts, which you're virtually never going to keep intact. And unfortunately MW5 has a bizarre system where hardpoints have "sizes". A lot of builds are just impossible.
MW5 is unplayable without mods, particularly Yet Another Mech Lab(known in the community as YAML), which adds MWO style modifications, removing hardpoint sizes, adding engines. If you like the MWO-style mech lab, you need to grab YAML for MW5.
@Shadowburn2 do any of the dlcs fix this for console players. I've got the heroes one already. This game is so addictive I was thrown off by early reviews even though I loved mw2 and mw2 back in the day. Which I had a gaming pc rig. Never wanted to play mods so much in my life lol. Also does anyone play this for the story/read all the news lore
If and when you do mediums, the BLJ-A The Arrow, with six machine guns, deletes even assault mechs incredibly fast. Nothing funnier than ripping Comstar assault lances to shreds with six machine guns.
I keep seeing people swear by machine gun spam but to me it's not that amazing? It's alright but I have to be up in their face and time to kill isn't like spectacular so I always end up trading more damage than I would like compare to other weapon setups I employ.
I agree the hero blackjack with high tier machine guns and no jump engines so you can have more armour is awesome...for those who don't like the short range of the mg...remember let your lance mates start the fight, run round behind the target and delete them in seconds..I always get this mech on my playthroughs and now with solaris arena fights it really pays for itself :-)
@@gaizokubanou they might seem bad with non upgraded MGs but with level 4-5 MGs they are doing combined. some odd 14 damage every tenth of a second. that adds up extremely fast especially when you are aiming for the head. ive gone up against 3 awesomes in my blackjack and killed all 3 wthin 10 seconds lol
The Javelins are bloody God-tier for your AI crew. Never again lose precious C-Bills having to replace weapons because of the AI as they have no arm-mounted weaponry. Whether its the M-Laser or SRM version, they also do very good damage. Plus… that goddamn swagger they have when running around the warzone makes them an absolute delight to watch. 😅
"S tier light will die to any tier assault" good for a chuckle but cant help but stare at MWO and watch assault players get bullied by lights on a daily
As a light mech enthusiast I disagree about half of your choices, especially on the large energy hardpoint ones, thanks to the addition of PPC-X these bad boys can do some serious work, in fact I've done full campaign runs with 4 lights and 1 ppc x and we never even lost the weapon let alone the fight, I'd put them in high A tier maybe S. Also since you don't have mods, you don't know which mechs come with endo steel or xl engines etc.
I think this tier list is made from the perspective of using lights as sluggers, which only really works out in very early game when facing only other lights. All that goes out of the window fairly quickly though once you are looking at 200+ ton drops with a light mech lance. All that matters at this point is how much firepower you can unload into the rear of the enemy, and how good your evasion is if you are anywhere else than behind them.
Depends, do you have YAML? Absolutely, I give the AI javelins and an archer and the only problem I have is that they core literally everything in a few min. Vanilla? Nah man. There just isn't enough customization to make most mechs viable.
I remember having a lot of fun with 8 flamers on the firestarter A. Then again, I only ever started using light mechs just to rush down those damn artillery positions on most maps ._.
This might have been patched by now I remember hearing that flamers were incredibly OP compared to how they are in other games where they verge on totally useless.
Aside from hardpoints, which I think are only really important if you plan on piloting the mech yourself, speed and profile have a huge impact on how often you get hit. Where the Locust is usually fast enough to avoid being targeted the Flea and Commando get hit a lot more often. I switched my Jenner with a Panther for arena missions and the Panther gets chewed up a lot more. The arena missions change things for lights. Flamers have the shortest range but deal good dmage and seem to be pretty good at causing your targets to shut down. MGs in large numbers deal silly amounts of damage but also have very short range. Try going into arena missions with tricked out Firestarters. In addition the EMC Firestarters are straight upgrades to the 9A. A good AMS will eat SRMs and the black market EMS significantly reduces enemy accuracy.
In the early game, I love getting one or two Fleas to replace Locusts. I put SB Lasers on and the AI works well with them. Getting your pilots over 2 in Maneuvering helps a ton.
@@lordsysop MW5 is better on modern hardware; MWO only runs well on 10 year old computers because of it's ancient CryEngine game engine which the devs are unable to update as support for it was dropped sometime in 2015 as Crytek went belly up. What a stupid tier list, you should be considering the overall effectiveness for various tasks.
Jump jets are mandatory on light mechs for evasion, gap closing, getting in and out of cover...
For example you can trivialize raid and demolition missions with a single mech like the firestarter E with MGs, jump jets and good enough speed (the only remaining threat being air units but you can swap the flamers on this specific mech).
Jump jets, especially on lights/mediums give an insane boost to mobility that translates to survivability AND deadliness since it enables the MGs (hitting the unarmored back of enemy mechs).
