Miss James is of what may have been one of his lesser known albums, none of his usual band played on it, but the guitarist was either Bryce Robertson who was also an engineer at Chess Studios or John Stocklin who sounds as though he was a session guitarist for Chess. But both the riff and the lead break sound straight out of Howling Wolf's early stuff even though it was recorded in 1971. I love this song but despite being an avid Wolf fan I didn't come across this song until Steve taught me it.
It’s a great track, like you this is Steve introducing it to me also. Those two names for guitarist have been mentioned in the comments also, it would be great to know for sure, but looks like that won’t be possible. Great song though, nice riff. There’s something in that riff that reminds me of sample in a Handsome Boy Modelling School track called The Projects. That’s an aside 🙂 but it’s always interesting to see how music filters through like that… Cheers Kevin.
Nice! 🙂I love that album, mind you it was dated when it came out! Some good moments on it though. I can almost see Steve shaking his head when I mention it 😅
Just got settled in and it was over ,was it a heat in the studio issue or has Steve got a night shift at the sawmill he's running late for ? .anyway quality over quantity ,well done bluesbox once again made me grab my keypad and add a witty comment ,ps where was the old dude?

Old dude was behind the camera and Steve despite his appearance wouldn’t last 10mins in a sawmill! 😅
