Thank you, sweet soul for your comment. I was blessed to see Leon live, in an intimate venue with my mother. One of my most memorable concert experiences far beyond the greats we'd both seen.
I first saw Leon at the Riverboat Coffee House in Yorkville Toronto back in 1975. He and others came in from another Folk festival and each played a few songs. I was simply blown away by this fellow named Leon Redbone, he was so unique, nothing phony about him. From that moment on I have a soft spot in my heart for his wonderful music. Enjoy your retirement Leon, you're so deserving of it. Bless you for all of your contributions.
Gorgeous arrangement. It takes a special talent to cover a tune that has been covered 100's of times and come up with something new. Leon did it frequently.
I have loved your music since the 7O’s. Thanks for keeping alive the wonderful music of the past, but done in your owm inimitable style. You have made a lot of people happy!
Leon Redbone Tribute Channel Without ever having had the good fortune to meet him, although I worked for Mo Ostin when Leon was signed to Warner Bros. Records, his warmth and humor come across in his music and it is easy to imagine he is a wonderful man. Thanks for your response!
Sadly I never got a chance to meet him or see him live. He just never came over to my part of Canada, and in the later years before he entered retirement he almost exclusively remained in the USA and only played a half dozen small venues per year or so. His dementia I believe had started some time ago, and it just slowly advanced as it does, until it was not an option any longer to tour or make any appearances.
Usual outstanding job by Leon. Definitely a different take on the 1937 cut by the Tommy Dorsey big band with the famous Bunny Berrigan trumpet solo. Thanks for the post.
I met Mr Redbone a long, long time ago in Bloomington, IN. He signed albums for me. Fond memories. Glad to buy the Heinekens! Red wine and a typewriter. Beautiful gals.
The first time I met him (Ye Olde Regulator IU Bloomington-1977) he was in the owner's office typing on a very old typewriter which had no paper in it.
I've been digging your sound for quite some time, Mr. Redbone. Lucky enough to see you in Ft Collins Colorado in a wonderful dimly lit crowded bar, making everyone swoon. This song in particular warms my soul.
Purchased "On The Track" in '76 or '77. I was grateful to see U at both shows in Houston @ The Agora Ballroom. (79). Thanks for making Fats Waller an Icon. Was lucky enough to see Ain't Misbehaving (Nell Carter) in (NYC).
Saw Leon a few times. At the Silvia Theater in Clover SC maybe 10 years ago. What a character.. "I'm not feeling do well" Perhaps is wasn't. It was him and the piano player.
Does he play out of standard pitch on purpose? I have to re tune every time I try to play along. He is so relaxed, he makes Bing Crosby seem like a nervous wreck.

This track sounds like it was from an old 78 RPM record--just like all of his performances. Leon Redbone was definitely an acquired taste--he wasn't for everybody. And that's what made his vintage sounding music unique. He came across like someone who was from the early part of the twentieth century that took a time machine to the 70s to play the music of his era. I don't see anyone today that would even try to attempt what Leon Redbone did. And that's just another reason today's music stinks and will continue to stink. You can't do this kind of music with auto tune--it just won't work. Oh for the days when people really knew how to sing.....
I was named after this song❤ Shannon Marie. Thank you, Daddy, in Heaven!!
While my friends were listening to Led Zeppelin, I was listening to Leon Redbone.
I listen to both
RIP John Robert Brown ~love you forever dad

How can this have 10 dislikes?? The Late Great Leon Redbone...RIP..
As my dad used to say “some people would bitch if they were hung with a new rope”
There's no accounting for taste.

Leon was on a level by himself,what a loss...R.I.P
One of the very Best of all time to me.
I saw his first appearance on SNL - one man on stage alone and he blew the house out
Thank you Leon, RIP, we have your music to guide us to a better place
His music transports me to another, more unhurried, time. God bless you, Leon.
Gorgeous arrangement. It takes a special talent to cover a tune that has been covered 100's of times and come up with something new. Leon did it frequently.
We saw him in Spokane, Wa., he put on a great show, well worth the trip from Montana to see him. Tim M. 8/5/2022

Leon Redbone, Chuck Jones and Michigan J. Frog made for one of the greatest album covers of all time...
I'm listening to you in Singapore, and you're making my whiskey taste pretty good.
I've been digging your sound for quite some time, Mr. Redbone. Lucky enough to see you in Ft Collins Colorado in a wonderful dimly lit crowded bar, making everyone swoon. This song in particular warms my soul.
He was so different unique and had his own style that I loved and thoroughly enjoyed
Leon Redbone, the master of music. RIP and thank you.

I love this style. You made a big impression on me. I first heard you on SNL. I've played a guitar for 50 years and I really like your playing.
It's one of a kind (:
Leon Redbone when you comming to england
Ruby Tuesday After surviving a plane crash many years ago, Leon no longer flies.
I could have written this exact same comment!
SNL...Same here. Shizzle!

Always a great sound
Rest in Peace Leon
I see you are having a few drinks and enjoying the music again (:
Leon Redbone Tribute Channel saw Leon open for Leo Kottke once on Vancouver...been a fan ever since!
As in Vacouver, BC? Or Vancouver Washington?
Saw Leon a few times.
At the Silvia Theater in Clover SC maybe 10 years ago.
What a character..
"I'm not feeling do well"
Perhaps is wasn't.
It was him and the piano player.
Does he play out of standard pitch on purpose? I have to re tune every time I try to play along. He is so relaxed, he makes Bing Crosby seem like a nervous wreck.
The trumpet maestro Harry James also played just a little sharp, and he still stands as the greatest ever.
He tunes down a whole step.

Recordings are often pitch shifted during processing to reduce noise. Computer music software can change pitch when playing recordings.
Love Leon
Someone stole this album from me in high school. Oh well had it memorized.
After the show we sat around (him flanked by his two beautiful young women) and drank Heinekens. Quite a character. No, I won't say anything else.
