- Quick comparison of four non-electric portable clothes washers. For the full review see commonsensehom...
Amber has very limited internet access at her off grid homestead, so we had to keep the video short.
Our favorite is The Laundry POD, because it also spins clothes dry.
To purchase the washers shown in the video, use the amazon links below (affiliate links):
The Laundry POD - amzn.to/2UrIf1P
Breathing Mobile Manual Washer (plunger style washer) - amzn.to/2G65Vyr
The Wonder Washer - amzn.to/2FZZGMD
Lavario Portable Clothes Washer - amzn.to/2VAaqIa (not currently available)
Finally someone showed exactly what’s required with out any commercial Thank you
For more details see - commonsensehome.com/portable-clothes-washer/ Amber lives off grid, so she needed to keep the video short.
You should have ranked them from best to worst based on how well they clean, convenience, value, ease-of-use Etc and maybe even showed people how they actually work instead of just telling people what they do or the names of them that way people can learn more before they actually attempt to buy some of them.
We do in the full article - commonsensehome.com/portable-clothes-washer/
Amber has very limited internet access. Even getting this short video up was difficult (as evidenced by the teleporting chicken).
You should make a video covering the stuff she didn't. I'll be waiting. She did a great job and the article provided was good complimentary info.
She has all the washers at her place. Her internet is lousy. Additional videos are not likely. My apologies.
Washing Wand is the best and ecnomical.Guess what I can't even afford that so I purchased a long aluminium pipe (4×1) and drilled holes at the middle and closed one end and it works perfectly fine at cheap cost.Hope it helps somebody 👍👍👍 from Kerala, India.
I'm glad you found a solution that works for you. Thank you for sharing.
I find that the wonder wand plunger one is quite amazing. There really isn't anything to break you can use any 5 gallon bucket which can be used for something else.I find myself washing very dirty items that I don't want to put in my washing machine and small laundry loads. It's simple, portable and convinent. The key is to pre soak and rinse for heavier dirt and grime.
Amber liked that one for the capacity and durability, too.
Thanks so much for the details in the article it made my decision at lot easier... Wouldn't have even realized how many options I had without you
You're very welcome.
I have the Lavario and love it especially for drapes, works good
I'm glad it works well for you.
This was so helpful! Thank you so much!
You're welcome.
Plumbers plungers drill a few large hole in plunger works perfect in a large bucket. Daily I've washed mine and my family cloths using this method for over 30 years. Works perfect and very cheap to make saving a fortune in electricy costs while at same time exercises my body free.
I use one of those plastic trash cans since I wanted a more vertical footprint so it minimizes the sloshing if I'm in a hurry from spraying the bathroom. I use two cheap plungers from dollar tree and two broomsticks extending them so I don't have to bend over to plunge, I haven't thought of drilling holes but the irony when using one plunger whether it was a bucket or trash can it kept sticking like shooting a large dart gun but for some reason using two plungers resolved the issue and it cleans much better and faster.
I don't get why so many are obsessed with some form of kinetic drying, I'm more than happy using a slotted plastic basket to strain much of the liquid by gravity and then hanging the clothes to dry.
Love and respect for making life simpler, economic, healthy living
I thought the video was going to be a comparison. All it does is name the washers and references an article to find out what works best.
Strange folds in the space time continuum...will be created when four hand washers are within interference range. Small chickens are most vulnerable when near this fold and possible time travel is possible.
We watch and read a lot of science fiction. Apparently there's been some crosstalk between the different topics.
lol
Excellent video! Well done and to the point! Bookmarked your article for later.
The full review on your website was very helpful. Thanks!
Thank you for taking the time to look at the review and leave a comment. Amber lives quite remote, so uploading video is a problem, but we wanted to have at least a brief side by side comparison.
Cheapest way is just a regular bucket in bathtub. Stomp laundry like grapes. 5 min in warm sudsy water. Rinse stomp 1 min. Fabric softener stomp 1 min. It's also giving you leg exercise in the process.
Thank you for reviewing these and sharing them. I was looking at several different manual washers for our home and all three of them were on your list. This really helped me decide what to get
I'm glad you found it helpful. I was pleasantly surprised to see that the simplest option (he plunger type washer) was one of the best.
The washing wand leaves your clothes really clean and so does the laundry pod. The wonder wash is great too and leaves them clean. I haven't tried the lavario though.
Amber was not a fan of the Lavario.
TY for this teaser vid
I went to ur website and read it
Will post in RV groups
Thanks for your patience and willingness to visit the website for the full review. As I mentioned in other comments, Amber lives totally off grid, so she has a challenging time uploading videos, but the perfect environment to test the different washers.
@@LaurieNeverman I can’t find ur comment on the website that I posted in response to my comment a few hrs ago. About the Harzbeke washer. I wanted to reply to it?
Thx
@@YeshuaKingMessiah it should be visible as the very last comment at this point if you scroll down.
@@LaurieNeverman yes
My own comment isn’t showing either
Refreshed the page and all
The website loads very slowly, every time I’ve tried to close out and click link in email. So I rly think it’s ur web server being funky. My other sites are loading fine, before and since.

thanks for the video
Thanks for being understanding about the limits of posting from off grid.
@@commonsensehome really appreciate your channel
I was hoping you would share your review on the video.
Great family. God bless.
But, what have you found to be the pros and cons to each? Which do you want to continue using and why?
As noted in the video description, for a full detailed review, please see - commonsensehome.com/portable-clothes-washer/
Since she is off grid, Amber has spotty internet, so she couldn't upload a long video.
Want to get the Lavario washer, but it cost like $200....its a plastic bucket...
The plunger style cleans well and it the least expensive, and can be used with any type of bucket.
Just a little confused by how you can live off grid, and have a youtube account.
I don't live off grid, Amber does (my account, not hers). She did a guest post for me, since she actually uses non-electric clothes washers. We did have a heck of a time transferring the video, as she uses cellular internet, and her link is not great. (Thus the teleporting chicken incident. The sound got out of sync during the file transfer, and when my son edited it to get it lined up again, we had a glitch in the space time continuum.)
For more information on rural internet options, please see commonsensehome.com/rural-internet-options/
Some rural youtubers end up driving into town to upload their videos. Not the most handy, but there are ways to work around lousy internet.
I would just like to add that lifestyles like "off-grid" or "zero-waste" can be a bit of a spectrum. It doesn't always mean you don't have access to things like some electricity, or don't ever produce ANY waste.
For instance, a person could have limited access solar power, or have an internet connection and a computer for work or UA-cam, but not much else on-grid, and still be considered living "off-grid.
It's more about the conscious efforts you make and your overall lifestyle, rather than 100% compliance. Hopefully that makes sense and doesn't sound too preachy. I think it's an understable misconception people can have.
did the chicken just teleport?
Yes.
So.. the third one is just a salad spinner?
Similar, but doesn't drain as easily, and sturdier.
I have the wonder washer on my to get list . Being it washes but doesn't spin dry i'm thinking maybe also getting the spin washer or as you call it the laundry pod ,and use it as a second rinse / final rinse / spin cycle / dryer to get excess water removed from clothes . Having said that , i lived in the woods or forest near a creek and river for a few years in a five man tent made my self a fire place with a U- shape rock wall with a round bbq grill about 2 1/2 feet above the ground with grill placed between rocks and a second round bbq. grill about another foot above the first grill to keep food warm while other food still cooking with a rock oven on the backside of fire place with square shaped grill inside about 2 1/2 feet above the ground for cooking during rainy weather and i found a large flat rock as a oven top lid or cover for the oven that also helped to keep rain from putting out fire or causing lots of smoke but still let fire breath . Lived on fish , leaves , berries , once in a while rabbits and squirrel but mostly fish wrapped in leaves with oil or butter when i had it with lemon quarters or wild berries or wild blueberries when i could find them . Had four wash basins one for dish washing one for dish rinsing one for clothes wash n soak and one for clothes rinsing used water from creek or river for dishes and laundry also had a water filter with purification strainer , 99.9 % bacterial killing and neutralizing tablets for drinking water from creek or river . Hanged dried clothes on a rope near fire place when needed sooner or by sun and air when i had time to wait for them to dry . Everything was good until the river rose and flooded my camp and washed everything away . Might have to camp a little more above river level next time .
I hope the flooding didn't hit in the middle of the night. Heck of a mess either way, but a lot more dangerous that way.
@@commonsensehome I was invited to stay a week at someones home and was away from camp when the flooding happened , i only learned of it when i attempted to return . After the water receded and searching the area i found my fire place broken down some but still there tent was gone but my cooking pans were still there but scattered about . Funny i still have and still use those pans today the flooding of my camp was a little over 10 years ago . My transportation during that time was a Schwinn Ranger mountain bike and a Bobs Ibex trailer both of which are still running good and i am still using today as of 8-5-2019 .
@@ronsmith5572 that's well made equipment.
Wtf? Where's to the review??
As noted in the video description, for the full review see - commonsensehome.com/portable-clothes-washer/
Amber has a very limited internet connection at her off grid homestead where she was testing these, so we had to keep the video short.
did she just say "come here little bitch" at 1:18 ?!
"Little bit is a term of endearment for small children.
Does the Laundry Pod got a 5 gallon water capacity? Or can it fit a full sized bed sheet, or a thin throw?
The Laundry Pod holds 5 gallons of water, but the volume of the actual basket the clothes go in is 606 cubic inches, or about 2.6 gallons. It could probably handle a single sheet or thin throw, but nothing bulkier.
@@commonsensehome ah darn! what a bummer! it would have been PERFECT if it was the full 5 gallon basket but I get why they designed it to ensure more spin ability. Thanks for your review of all the products!
@@potatozinc yeah, great for smaller items, but not the bigger stuff.
What did you call your daughter ????
Amber's daughter's nickname is "Little Bit".
🤣🤣🤣
So which ons do you guys like best?
The full detailed review is at commonsensehome.com/portable-clothes-washer/ Amber likes the Laundry Pod for ease of use and removing the water at the end of washing. For simple durability, stain removal, and ability to tackle big items, she likes the big plunger thing (Breathing Mobile Manual Washer).
You didn't compare anything
Wonder wash vs eciwash? Which one is better
We haven't tested the eciwash.
Wait - did she just say, "Com'ere lil beitch"
"Little Bit" - not something less complimentary.
I know!! I heard it too 😆
Where to buy that kind of product??
You can find them online and in some specialty stores. We have the full review with purchase options at commonsensehome.com/portable-clothes-washer/
What a sweet girl 😄💞
1:18 what?!?
"Come here Little Bit and show them what it is." Amber refers to her daughter as Little Bit.
lol i definitely heard something else
@@LaurieNeverman That's adorable
Lavario is no longer made.......
Not terribly surprised. It was functional, but we liked other units better.
@@commonsensehome I have 3 wonderwashes lol only reason is price and availability lol they have been worked hard and still are fine so very much worth it. I did want a lacario though just to try it maybe someone on ebay one day will have an affordable used one lol
@@sneevegastv7606 it sounded like it would work well, but Amber liked the plunger style one much better for cleaning larger loads.
@@commonsensehome yeah I have a plunger with holes drilled in it I use sometimes its best for dirty blue jeans usually but sometimes nothing gets stuff out like a washboard lol and my wife's names amber so for a second I was like.......do I know you???? Lol
@@sneevegastv7606 I don't think so, and I agree on the washboard. Elbow grease works. 🙂
I saw the first one *laverio, it's bad, the second has a bad winder, the third looks like you can actually spin it the best but 20 times slower than needed and fourth is just to agitate so forget about it.
Ma'am I don't mean to be rude here but dislike here for not doing the comparison
As I have explained, at Amber's location, she has very limited internet, so we had to keep the video short for it to upload. You can get all the details about each washer at the website, with a handy reference chart at commonsensehome.com/portable-clothes-washer/
