This is just a sign to go there! Have been thinking and doing research all week to go there in a few months and now this is just a sign I have to go!!! A real inspiration!!
i'm anxious to go climbing some mountains again... unfortunately there aren't any big ones in my area but with the col collective i always get to experience some aswell. thanks for that! :)
Great video. Great (smooth) roads for road cycling and a great challenge to ride at high altitudes. Now I see why the Canary Islands are so popular for Pro cyclists.
I love Tenerife, I have been there few years ago with my family , the top of the TeiDe is absolutely great view, the clouds were bellow I have taken hundreds of photos ... amazing place worth to visit at least once time in life
In the winter my parents live in Tenerife (Los Gigantes) - and that climb to the top is incredible. We descended via the route you take up here- amazing long descent! Also the hard route over Masca to Buenavista del Norde is absolutely incredible. Good work again Mike!
I look forward to subscription notifications from The Col Collective more than any other channel I follow. Another video full of breathtaking scenery and climbing that's really interesting to watch (and be envious of). Thanks to everyone involved in making these. Bring on the next one.
I've just discovered your channel, thanks for sharing all these amazing experiences, it's truly inspirational and this will lead me to improve so i can be finally able to climb these tremendous hills. Please keep on enjoying by riding and providing us such great videos.
Love this climb. Done it from Los Cristianos in the south and also on a 185km ride with over 5500m elevation around the coast from Los Cristianos to Puerto De La Cruz and then up from that side. Legs were smashed that day but it was a great day.
Beautiful work there, brilliant camera work... fantastic effort as usual Mike, so wonderful to see this video, just finished a long one myself coming from a 300 kms ride covering 4000 mts of elevation. You just took me back into the moments of those climbs... Keep inspiring :)
Wonderful! Amazing! Everything has already been said and written. Please let me just add one small thing: the video is much too short!! 😉 It can only pass on the beauty and inspiration in fractions. But nevertheless: thank you so much Mike!! 🤟
Check out "Alto de Letras" here in Colombia. You go from 495m to 3679m in 80kms! It'd be nice to have Mike down here and explore all the amazing climbs and cycling culture this far from Europe. cheers.
Looks like a great experience although that elevation gain is four times what I'm used to doing in same distance where I live (and about 10,000 feet higher at the top) :-o
Lovely ride, professional production (except for the captions, 2:10 - There are* six routes to Teide, 6:33 - where the pros* choose, plural, no apostrophe) down to the sponsor representation. It is surely pure coincidence that the pro team passing by rides the same brand of bikes as the presenter.
I went from Los Christianos up & it's a killer, 32 degree heat definitely did not help as you sweat buckets! I rented a bike from Free Motion & they were excellent with advice & great bikes.
Hi Mike..Great video as usual. Any chance that you would want to share your power data with us? Also, how about a video in Mallorca? Thanks for letting us live vicariously through you.
+larry barman Hi Larry, super happy you enjoyed the vid! I'll be honest, I don't use power data so much these days (kinda got a bit obsessed and found I spent more time looking at my stem than the scenery which is the main reason I ride). That said I may dig it out again one day. I'd love to get out to Mallorca to bring some of those roads to life, including Sa Calobra. Just need to get the budget together, personally I'd like to do every climb / region that comes recommended to us but we have to be realistic too. Stay tuned, more vids to come. Thanks for your support. Mike
always love your videos Mike. any chance of a video covering the climb to Pico de Las Nieves on Gran Canaria? sea level to 1950m in about 35km, personally I think the scenery is better on Gran Canaria too.
+Mark Vogler Agreed Mark. Gran Canaria is an all time favourite place to ride. Such incredible scenery. Pico de las Nieves is on the way. We couldn't resist :-)
Excellent ride! Question for you Mike - I am 60 years old and upgrading to a Canyon CF SLX, either the 9.0 with Dura Ace or the 8.0 with Ultegra. Your thoughts on Dura Ace vs Ultegra? Going to be spending time in Europe doing some of your climbs - perhaps even the Haute Route.
Hi Kelly, it's hard to fault Dura Ace and Ultegra, both work super good from my experience. Overall Dura Ace is that bit more refined, a little lighter and I've found it to be more durable. If you can stretch to it I'd go for it, but as I say Ultegra will definitely still get you up plenty of mountains! Hope that helps. Enjoy! Mike
I think you might need a little more fluids lol. seriously how do you not burn? I go up tiede all the time and it's a very hostile place. good job my man
Teide isn't a mountain, is a sleeping volcano. and is the biggest volcano of Europe (3718M) followed by Volcano Etna (3329) in italy. We don't call the sea "a big river" or the plains "flat mountains", let's call it by its own name. Volcano Teide.
just got home Tenerife rented a bike and did the ride up to paradores teide route 7 so did 101km with a 2542m climb it was awesome ride next time i am going to ride it again .Tenerife is great place for cycling no wounder to pro's goes there😎Thx for the inspiration vids
Its not the undisputed master of continious climb in Europe. Pico de Veleta in Siera Nevada is longer and has a lot more altitude (almost 2900m from bottom to top) - It tops out 1000m above Teide at almost 3400m ! In the Canaries Roque De los Muchachos on the Island of Las Palma also has more altitude 2423m and - plus its a hell of a lot steeper no matter from which side you chose to climb it + it carries more wind than Teide. Both climbs are exeptional in the manor that you climb to the top of the mountain. It's spectacular to ride on the mountain ridge to the top - thes tto the top of an Ultra. Teide is still a tough climb and the sceneray is spectacular. The toughest way up is from the East (Granadila) via Arafo. Not from the south... Secondly the highest pavement is not inside the Caldera but at the observatories next to the nothern route just befor you decend into the Caldera.
+Morten Reippuert Knudsen Hi Morten, thanks for the info. There are definitely longer, steeper, harder and higher climbs (many of which are on our 'to do' list including the great Pico de Veleta :-) Teide's claim is that is has the most climbing 'continuously' in Europe without a descent (sea level to 2,100 metres in 37km in one go, before you descend into the crater rim and climb further towards the Teide plateau). Although Pico de Veleta has more overall elevation gain there are a few short sections of descent at times so it's not continuous elevation gain. We chose to ride it from the south as it's one of the most popular routes up. Beautiful climb, hopefully many more to come. Ride safe and enjoy. Mike
+The Col Collective - Roche De Los Muchachos from Santa Cruz de La Palma: from sea level to 2321m in 34km without decent - after that you reach a little palautau on the edge of the caldera rim followed by a short decent before you climb again from 21-2200m (base of the observertories) until you reach the paved top at 2412m (approx 39km). This is the top of the island without shelter so windspeeds comming down from the noth atlantic can be ridiculus. (not like Teide which are sheltered by the volcano and caldera) From the other side the last 16km are Stelvio/GrossGlockner steep on a rediculus curvy twisty and narrow road - (max 20%). -One of the few i really don't like decenting on carbon rims.
I'm here at the moment, did the same climb yesterday. I'm obsessed and doing it again tomorrow! 😁
51km was the same distance as my ride today...you just beat me on elevation gain though (2,547 vs 196m) :-(
Brilliant video, I rode this last August escaping 'Blackpool in the Sun' and the family. No snow then! 😎
This is just a sign to go there! Have been thinking and doing research all week to go there in a few months and now this is just a sign I have to go!!! A real inspiration!!
Glad we could help make up your mind. Enjoy!!
Wow! Great scenery & bike ride
The best video in the collection 👍 think this is a must visit !! BonBon
Glad you enjoyed it! Thanks for watching!
This video is so emotional and inspiring really shows that all the beauties in the world are best seen on your bike, cheers and keep riding
Thank you for watching. Peace, Mike

Always get excited when you post videos..and never disappointed..made my day
Thank you Jan. Big smiles :-)
Great looking location. Looks like a nice climb.👍🏼🚴🏼. Love the footage thanks guys.
In the winter my parents live in Tenerife (Los Gigantes) - and that climb to the top is incredible. We descended via the route you take up here- amazing long descent! Also the hard route over Masca to Buenavista del Norde is absolutely incredible. Good work again Mike!
Yet another masterpiece, Mike Cotty!

I would love to see you guys tackle Mauna Kea. Obviously kept for last, no other climb on earth like it
+Random Weeb I'd love to see that beast too! One day I hope! Thanks for watching. Mike

Thanks so much for your appreciation Chris :-) Many more video on the way!! Ride safe! Mike
Great video again! The other side from La Orotava might be cool too as you go through an amazing pine forest and get really nice views over the ocean.
+Frédéric Pactat Sounds like a great excuse to go back Fred :-)
just love tenerife.

love everyone of the video, thank you. so inspiring.
Massive thanks for watching Kirk!
Beautiful climb, I've done it from Arafo in the north and Adeje in the south. Fantastic video as always Mike, keep up the good work :)

great videos,do you have any playlist of the soundtrack? i realy realy like and i would like listen this music when iam trining
I went from Los Christianos up & it's a killer, 32 degree heat definitely did not help as you sweat buckets! I rented a bike from Free Motion & they were excellent with advice & great bikes.
Great to hear Scott. Free Motion are excellent, glad they helped you out and you conquered Teide!! 💪🏼
love tenerife! and the cafe at Villaflor
What's the cafe called there
@@Helcc There'are two actually - at the start and finish of the city. There's also in the city center, but no coffee :D

Magnificent blend of sights and sounds. So did you only see Cannondale up there or other teams as well?
We saw some of the Astana & Katusha guys too. A real mecca for the pro's.
Have you gone to the Pico de las Nieves in Gran Canaria? Great video.
Of course we couldn't go all that way and not ride Pico! Video coming soon :-)
+Mike Cotty Looking forward to that...as all of these vidz Mike ;)
+Mike Cotty I´ll enjoy a lot that video thanks
Great video! Thank you. Have you considered profiling Haleakala in Maui?
Definitely considered it Laura. One day I hope we can make it happen :-)
Fantastic! Maui is one of our favourite places to ride outside of Europe.

It's Amazing, dream to do the same.
Not the most beautiful climb I've done but surely the most monumental one.
+Mike Cotty climbing in the saddle. Would you look at that...
....it happens ;-)
I think you might need a little more fluids lol. seriously how do you not burn? I go up tiede all the time and it's a very hostile place. good job my man

Tolles Video...ich möchte gerne wissen: Welche Schaltung benutzen Sie? 105er oder Profi-mäßig (Ultegra etc.)?
Awesome vids Mike
A m8 and me are going to ride that in nov :0) but how long time would you say that it would take a normal amateur ?
Thx Brian
Hi Brian, I'd give it a good 4 hours bottom to top, no need to rush, enjoy it all the way! :-)
just got home Tenerife rented a bike and did the ride up to paradores teide route 7 so did 101km with a 2542m climb it was awesome ride next time i am going to ride it again .Tenerife is great place for cycling no wounder to pro's goes there😎Thx for the inspiration vids
How much water did you drink during climb?
Hi Mike, do you ever ride with a power meter?
Rarely nowadays. Got too consumed looking at the little box on my handlebars instead of enjoying the view ;-)
@@MikeCotty So true! That's why I stopped racing. So much better having a break during the ride, take a breath and enjoy the stunning views ...
Just grand as usual! Doing Pico de las Nieves as well?
+gr0bbelaar On the way, stay tuned :-)
Mike, we are waiting for the next posting with baited breath
pro team stomping ground...
Mike, I noticed you didn't speak much on the climb....:)
Yeah but imagine the descent :D
36-25 sounds grindy to me :p
I have the KOM on strava up this climb from La Orovtava #claimtofame

no wind, that is almost never the case...
I know this video is seven years old but I stopped watching after 20 seconds because I couldn't stand the overbearing music. 👎👎👎
Sorry it’s not to your liking this time.
Beautiful 🏆
