- The Rise of Seljuk Empire (1037 - 1091 CE)
in the beginning of 11th century, Abbasid Caliphate fractured into multiple independent feudal emirate (provinces), Eastern Roman Empire and Fatimid encroaching Abbasid territories in Anatolia an Levant. Seljuk Turks led by dual leadership of Toghrïl Beg and Çağrı Beg sought to unite the Abbasid realm from the fringes of the caliphate in Central Asia.
in 1040 Seljuk forces able to defeat Ghaznavid Sultanate in the battle of Dandanaqan, pushing Ghaznavid toward Afghanistan and Punjab.
in 1055 Abbasid Caliph Al-Qāʾim bi-Amri'llāh requested aid from the Seljuks and promoted Toghrïl Beg as Sultan.
in 1064 Muhammad Çağrı enthroned as Seljuk Sultan nicknamed Alp Arslan.
Alp arslan appointed ibn Ali Al-Tusi as Seljuk Vizier nicknamed Nizam Al-Mulk.
Dual leadership of Sultan Alp Arslan and Vizier Nizam al-Mulk made Seljuk empire expanded rapidly and greatly administered.
in 1071 Outnumbered Seljuk forces under Sultan Alp Arslan manage to defeat main army of Easter Roman Empire led by Emperor Romanos IV Diogenes. Roman emperor was captured by Seljuks as captive.
in 1072 Malik Shah I bcame sultan of the Seljuk Empire, inheriting vast empire stretched from Syria, Anatolia, Persia, Central Asia to Afghanistan.Nizam al Mulk continue to serve as Seljuk Vizier, erecting Nizamiyya university throughout Seljuk Empire.

The Ummayeds didn't betray no one. You can't call a whole nation a traitor based on a policy that was used in a specific time period even if they did wrong the good outweights it.

Finally the Ottoman empire didn't make it this far with a parlament, instead they did it with fair rule in the tradition of the Prophet sa.
The millitary succes of the empire comes from the fact that most Ottoman caliph's where mareshals them selves. Once this millitary tradition among the caliph's declined so did the empire. The other interior/exterior reasons are minor ones.
