Thank you for posting! My observations: The Fender is more balanced across the register. The Squier's mids jump out in the higher register. Maybe the pot and cap values are different. The Fender has a mellower, springier sound. The Squier sounds honky and harsh.
I'm purchasing a Squire Bass VI and have been amassing as many Bass VI videos as I can find. This stands out as the best demo I've seen so far. You clearly have no agenda here. You're not trying to showcase your personal compositions; you're not attempting to show off your array of effects pedals. Just a straight out of the box demo by someone who is highly skilled at his craft. Anyone who really wants to find out what this instrument sounds like needs to see your well planned video. GREAT JOB!!!
Well first great playing and instruments. You sure are good at organization and consistent playing duplication. I think both sound great and without me eyes I can't tell which is which. Thanking you for some bass vi audio video it was good. Thanking Jesus for you ... Love that Bass vi old and new.
I would love to hear a future comparison with the Squier's pickups swapped out for something from a quality pickup maker. Pot/cap values aside, I think that would significantly close the gap in sound between the two instruments.
Correct, the neck on the Squire is nothing like the neck on an original Bass VI. Original is much thinner and a completely different profile. In fact main difference is not the sound between the two, its the shape, profile and feel....in that respect the two instruments are nothing alike.
Didn't understand why the new Fender had dot inlays while the Squire had gorgeous block inlays. The Squire seems more true to the original than the Fender.
I own expensive Fenders and not so expensive Fenders. Most of the times, I don’t hear a significant difference between budget Fenders and much more expensive US Fenders. But in this case: the „real“ Bass VI sounds incomparable better. This warmth and vibe. At first I thought: he might have used very different strings. And to my surprise, he didn’t. Have to buy LaBella flats for my 2013 Japanese Bass VI and compare!
Fret noise on Squier. Thise tall thin frets yuck...the VM has medium jumbo and sounds smoother. That being said i think the Squier has nore life in its sound here than the Fender. Fender sounds weak and dull frankly.

Yes, that is correct. I feel I have to purposefully play lighter on the higher register/strings when playing on the squier.

Thanks a lot! I'm glad you enjoyed it! I just thought this is what I would like to see in a comparison video 🤣
Squier Bass VI user here. This video is awesome!
Am I hearing it wrong? It seems like the Fender has a stronger output and more low end than the Squier, even with the strangle switch turned on.

i plan on swapping out the pickups next year. We will see what happens then 😂
Great vid🔥Stock strings on Squire?
@@SirAntBo nope, both has Labella flats
@@picure Awesome, thanks 🙏🏿
Do you feel that the bridge on the Squier should be upgraded to a more stable and better quality bridge?
@@h.p.brownsaucecraft7966 as of now, the bridge is working fine for me. However I do not use the whammy bar.
@@picure thank you for you response.
i wish i knew they made pink ones then , wow !
great playing. the fender sounds better but the squire is often more affordable even with some aftermarket mods like a staytrem bridge
What riff are you playing from 10:22 and onward?
Im playing “Cruel Moonlight” by Yoga Lin
@@picure thanks for the reply, I appreciate your thorough comparison 🤝🤘🏼do you happen to have the tabs?
@@linkinparkfan415 im sorry, but i play by ear and dont have any tabs 😆
Great comparison! I've read that the vintage ones have even narrower nuts than the new ones. Is the vintage one harder to play would you say?

How do they compare on playing comfort?

70s vs 60s

yes! i feel the vintage bass vi is much better at being a bass guitar. while the squier is great for strumming
