I think everyone was reacting the way Hoda did. We couldn't believe it at first when the first notes came because until that moment, Celine was nowhere to be seen during the opening ceremony. But save the best for last and wow, did she impress and leave us speechless during her performance. Everyone was just rooting for her after all she has been through and we were just in awe of her resilience and her determination to sing once again! I keep getting teary eyed when I watch her performance! ❤❤❤

The day after her performance I watched the documentary and I was so touched by her suffering but also I felt admiration for her honesty and her power.
She was showing herself without make up and sharing her emotions and pain and I thought how brave of her to be so honest and open.
How many stars would dare to do this.
She is a wonderful person blessed with a strong will.
    She inspires me.

She was magnificent - what little I heard. I wish we could have just heard her sing it all the way through without the commentaries from everyone. I wanted to hear the song and just ENJOY IT. I tried to get it on youtube but all I heard was the many comments from way too many people who had to describe it all. No, we just want to hear Celine magnificent voice of an amazing song. . Period. Her voice -- not the fucking comments & description about her voice, her journey, her comeback..... just her singing. And it was MAGNIFIQUE.

I teared up the first time she sang this song on American Music Award when they paid tribute to the victims of terrorism. I cried again when she sang this again at the Olympics. Great singers have sung this song, including the original Edith Piaf but no one had tugged my heart more than Celine. Her interpretation is just heart warming. I wish her good health and speedy recovery.❤❤❤
I hope, after the Olympics, Celine will make a surprise visit to Hoda during their live broadcast and see her just make an ugly cry 😘😭🥰

I hope this live version gets released as a single and/or is allowed to be on an album. And I hope that this is the beginning of a beautiful friendship for Hoga and Celine. She said in the documentary that she doesn’t have many friends and that broke my heart for her. To grow up in a nuclear family of 14 and then not have many friends after your spouse dies just makes me ACHE for her. Although it must be hard to trust people when every move you make is news…

I have been a huge fan of Celine Dion for as long as I remember. I can tell within a few seconds if she is singing live or not by just looking at her behavior. The Olympics performance was not live. It was lip synced. Not only that, my speculation is that it was recorded many years ago (not even recently). Go watch her performance at the American Music Awards 2015. The two performances are almost identical. Play them on top of each other and you will see what I mean. The one at the Olympics though seems to have been touched and dubbed (in this day and age with autotune, software, and AI what is left impossible?!). For instance, there were a few parts that were cracky and off but they are mostly fixed to perfection. I don't blame her for lip syncing in her conditions especially as she propably committed to this performance a few years ago and I certainly find her voice beautiful and touching (I cry every time I listen to it)!. But I do not get the media and fans' insist that she sang live.

I, too, would love to know how she pulled that off. It was the 1st ? I asked myself after I started breathing again when she finished. How in the bloody *^&^ did she pull that off?
Then I thought: well, I think I do know (well, besides the OMG medical things she went through). I was once a 4 octave Mezzo Soprano. I taught choirs and music (K5) for @ 20 years. Then I was dx'd w Spasmodic Dysphonia (which ENTs later disagreed w). I had the exact same thing Celine did - that loss of power, raspy, breathy...but it was the breaks that drove me crazy. I would almost get there and *train wreck.* I couldn't fix the pitch. My range was destroyed. Later, ENTs told me it was that I was being too tight w my voice & it was bc of Acid Reflux damage. I chalked it up to teaching
The dx doc's assistant (Dr. Stasney - if you know, you know) took me into a sound proof room & worked w me to move my lower range into my head voice...to shift my voice into my head voice always...to combat the loss
    asp\break etc
That was 2015. All these years later, and oh how I cried w her when she was raging against the loss....begging her voice to work...the loss of not being able to do what she was born to do/to perform....
I have a suspicion that it was a multi front attack:
    1) one hell of a team of docs\therapists and one woman with a will that should be carved into Greek Statues in the Parthenon
    2) Curious @ injections
    but...
    3) shifting her range and head voice....listen to the key it's in. She's maximizing her upper range...and letting the rasp fall where it can be maximized...on those lush, lower words and notes...
The rasp...even the break... is emotional...and it fits the words...so who cares if it's not pure perfection.
    4) Let her expand into head voice, maximize her obviously HELLA diaphragm from over the years BEHIND the frozen muscles....(heck my voice teacher put her hands on my ribs one day and pulled them out to expand my diaphragm....I kid you not...not saying she did buuuuuut....that woman was *determined*
And....that's the result. I also think she had some medical assistance....
ALLL that said. I have really not been a fan of Celine.
I was all mushy at the end of the ceremony when I heard one of the world's most recognizable voices. I hadn't even heard of the documentary
But I *HEARD* her. And I knew, from the words, that she was singing to her husband, Rene'.
It was the WORDS that moved me...and how she imparted her soul into them.
And then, oh god I saw that documentary.
I may not have been a fan before but lady: I respect the HELL out of you.
And I hurt with you for all the odd reasons...I don't have a voice like hers...I mean, who does on this Earth?
But I do know what if felt like that day when your voice is just not right, and how terrifyingly bad you want it back
    And it's gone.
Oh, how I want to see the rest of that story.
    Good. God. Almighty Y'all
    What a woman.
