The one thing I always tell people when embarking on The Expanse is, you will be almost certainly have loads and loads questions and even at times be a little confused. The show will not spoon feed you answers right away. Some things being set up now won't bear fruit for many many many episodes, but, eventually everything will come together as all the parts fall into place. Enjoy =)
THIS. So much THIS. 👆🏼
Yep. 100 percent this.
Some lines won't get paid off for 5 seasons...
Also, the entire first season is essentially exposition / world building that plays out as a kind of mystery/investigation. The first season in particular requires the full attention of the viewer in order to understand what is going on. There is a lot of visual story telling. The show doesn't spoon feed you with a bunch of clunky dialogue.
I love how the show takes it time unveiling things you have questions on. Gives you time to wonder, even squirm, until the time is right.
YES! This series is simply OUTSTANDING! Don’t let the slow burn turn you off; this show features some of the most realistic, intriguing, and epic sci-fi you’ll find out there.
I saw a couple of reactors watching this show and a few other channels recommend it, I started watching it a couple weeks ago and just started season 5 now, I’m ashamed to have slept on the best sci-fi I’ve seen in years for the last half-decade, you’re in for an absolute ride!
Subscribed for The Expanse reactions. Great reaction. I'm looking forward to more!
Watching people react to The Expanse has enhanced my enjoyment of the show. It has (without a shadow of a doubt) become my favorited show EVER! The only bad thing about The Expanse is that it might never be surpassed (this is based on how lazy the writing has been in almost every Science Fiction show I've seen over last few years). The Expanse in a gem that needs to be appreciated for it's very high standards in writing, logic and production!
Wow! That was so well put! Thank you for that! I completely agree 100%!
Some UA-cam reactors have picked up on small details I missed on my watching. So, pay attention!
I tried to watch it when it first came out and lost interest then around season 2 or 3 I gave it another shot and binged it and was waiting for season 5 like everybody else I can say without a shadow of a doubt it is one of my most favorite shows off all time .
I like that I discover even more details on rewatch 🙂
Have you seen "For All Mankind"? It is currently scratching my Space/Sci-Fy itch after "The Expanse"
The expanse is by far the best sci-fi franchise ever and definitely one of the best series ever in my opinion. The authors who worked on the books and the series are really amazing people and the cast along with the acting is beyond perfect. The Expanse is one of those shows that just keeps getting better each episode and each season. Glad to see you getting into it!
Personally, I think seasons 2 and 3 are peak video storytelling, the best I have ever seen. The other seasons are of course head and shoulders above almost any other franchise I know, but that run (2-3) is a perfect storm of concept, plot, production values, casting, dialog... this show fires on ALL CYLINDERS.
There are youtube bits on the lighting and cinematography, among other production stuff, that shows how the attention to detail and innovation form a new definition of top-notch for other shows to compare themselves to.
Completely disagree with it being the best sci-fi franchise ever, that honor belongs to the Remembrance of Earth's Past / Three-Body Problem trilogy. But The Expanse is still certainly *one* of the best franchises ever, sci-fi or not.
"Martians" is a perfectly valid in-universe way to refer to the humans that live on mars. Another term is "dusters", though that one is derogatory.
Also "Mickeys"
Plus you will hear belters referred to as “Skinnies,” also a pejorative.
Yeah each group has multiple terms. Squatters is one for Earthers that some belters use as a pejorative term.
@@syngyne Yes, which is derived from MCRN.
@@suddenimpulse030 Also “Takers”
So happy to see this, it's an absolutely phenomenal show!
Regarding Miller being a traitor to his people: he is a belter, but he works for Star Helix, which is an Earth corporation.
The whole thing is meant to be a mystery, the pieces will fall into place with time, and the picture will emerge. Answers ARE coming, and the way the stories intertwine is brilliant story telling.
Alot of it isn't spoonfed, and the little details really paint a picture. things like the bird flying weirdly because of the low gravity on Ceres, or seeing Julie desperately drink the tiny drop of water, and the next scene you see Avarsala's grandson throwing water balloons.
Miller is a belter working for the Earth based company that takes care of policing on Ceres, and that is why he is seen as a traitor to the Belt.
The Belters have a creole language, that mashes up many of earth's major languages. Interestingly it uses alot of hand gestures because belters often are working in space suits, and need to communicate visually.
HOLY HELL YES. The Expanse is one of my favorite shows and definitely my favorite Sci-fi show. I love that you're starting this.
Yay! The expanse is top tier television. The best written show on television
The way the Ceres narration at the beginning shifts to the protester's diegetic speech at the beginning is the perfect way to do an exposition dump. It feels organic to the setting and it's not forced or artificial at all. Beyond the content of the speech itself, the drone's little tour of Ceres, the speaker, the setting, and the reactions all carry even more meaning and information. Every time I rewatch it, I gain even more appreciation for just how nuanced it is.
Keep formulating questions and trying to find answers. In each episode, they allow you to find SOME answers out, but also give you a LOT more questions to ponder. You will eventually get ALL your answers (well, maybe not ALL, but all that are needed for the show). Promise.
As someone (my wife and I) who has watched this series THREE times and some episodes up to 4-5 times...this is an incredible series. We've BOTH also read the entire NINE book series (which The Expanse TV is just the first SIX books).
Each season gets better and better and better. This season is amazing, but know that most of the seasons have 100% on Rotten Tomatoes. Just saying.
Buckle up. You on the ride of your life.
Space sex does sound like fun. Don't worry. Your Dad...when he watched this series (which I'm assuming he already has...and is a fan), thought the same thing. I wouldn't worry about it.
The acting in this series is spectaclular. Stars have been born within this series. Some that we know, but MOST that we've never heard/seen of...or if we had...they were just bit parts. This show has made the main cast ROCK STAR status.
Thomas Jane (one of the greats, before this role) is AWESOME in this role. No one is ONE note. They all are multi-layered. Just give it time.
We really loved your reaction. Also, we have watched FIVE other reactors through this entire series...too. Yws, we love, Love, LOVE this series.
Talk to you, soon.
Welcome to The Expanse, Setara! Arguably the best sci-fi ever. Definitely *one* of the best.
Be aware that pretty much every word of dialog, and every screen you see, whether TV monitors or hand terminals, have information relevant to the story and/or world of The Expanse.
Many questions answered will open two more questions, but it all comes together.
Well- gravity wells of Earth and Mars.
Walla- a person or lover of something
Welwalla- Earth lover - a traitor to the people of the Belt, aka Beltalowda.
(There is a Belter Creole translator online if you're interested.)
There are no aliens, Martians are Humans from Mars. No hyperdrives. No lasers, phasers, artificial gravity, or any of the typical sci-fi tropes.
Gravity is attained by centrifugal or linear acceleration. Weapons are point defense cannons, torpedoes/missiles, and rail guns.
No shields. When smaller ships enter combat the crew wears vac suits and they vent the oxygen from the ship in case a cannon pierces the hull so they won't leak and waste air.
Yeah, it's like they used Jonathan Banks sorta like clickbait, then kill him off in the first episode. 🙄
But you will most definitely *not* be disappointed in choosing The Expanse! It's like if Battlestar Galactica and Game of Thrones had a secret love child, it would be The Expanse.
Oye Deng, Setara. Yam Seng! ✌️
P.S. Holden logged that distress call because he's Holden. It didn't have anything to do with Ade, and everything to do with saving the world....because...Holden. 😉
Really happy you’re doing this show. I’m sure people have mentioned this to you by now that this is by far the best written and relatively very scientifically accurate sci fi. First season is a bit slow as it focuses on the world building (and does it rather well). Second season picks up speed and by third season, each episode left me with my jaw dropped. The show also has one of the most romantic scenes I’ve ever seen and I don’t cry easily so will be interesting to see your reaction haha
The story that you remember is titled "The Cold Equations" and it is all about real-world physics.
And totally nonsense engineering and safety checklists, unfortunately.
Came here to add the title of that movie too! Only seen it once but it stuck with me especially the scene in the airlock with her taking.
I remember this story from middle school but could never find it again. It always stuck with me. When she mentioned it, I was glad to see someone knew exactly what she was talking about! Glad to run into this story decades later. Thanks for posting the title.
My favorite show. Can't wait for the rest =)
OH! DID NOT EXPECT! You will LOVE this world and its characters, I know it. Or at least, I hope? I tend to think the Expanse is heavily underrated. Seasons 3 and 5 are some of the best that any TV show has to offer. That's not to say any season is bad. I recommend you watch the first 5 episodes before making a judgement... it starts a little slow, but most are at least intrigued by then, and the show takes off like a rocket and keeps accelerating all the way through the end of S3. It's an insane ride - enjoy!
Welcome aboard!
The Expanse is a very mature story, in that it began as a role-playing game, then became a successful 9-book novel series. The original authors were also in the screenwriting room. For them, this was the final draft of a story they knew very, very well. Thus, the episodes are loaded with clues, foreshadowing, and "Chekov's guns" to future episodes. You've already seen clues to events that occur in the fifth and sixth seasons.
This is a very information-dense series. It demands the attention of the audience, but it doesn't hold your hand. There is no fluff, all the dialog is important, there is significant information on computer and cell phone screens. Watch what happens in the backgrounds, watch characters that are out of focus, pay attention to background sounds and voices. Characters won't explain things for the sake of the audience, and you won't know anything no character knows. But it all fits together, so things you don't understand at first will fit into the story later. You know what they know, and sometimes they're wrong.
The characters are complex, and the story unwraps them gradually. The good guys have their spots and the bad guys have good rationales that even we fans still debate. Don't be surprised if it takes you a while to figure out which is which...or change your mind later.
As far as what the Martians are, I'll tell you that "Mark Watney" exists in this universe.
Oh, and this show excels at maddening cliffhanger episode endings.
Let's start a wonderful journey :)
This show is just amazing in every way.
Suspense, heart, character-development, acting, world building, moral dilemmas, epic visuals, humour, plot surprises, political intrigue, mystery and more!
It’s just so amazing! The first about 2-4 episodes are slightly slower than the rest but once it gets started it never stops.
Expect to not get what’s going on sometimes. It’s a very “show don’t tell” kind of show, things are set up to pay off later and it lets you figure it out yourself.
it's also got some heart-wrenching sad scenes
Nobody loves Miller's hat more than Miller.
I am so glad that I get to see you react to this show. It really is one hell of a ride.
Don't worry if you don't understand everything at first. You're not supposed to. Answers will slowly be revealed...and more questions will be asked. The show does seem to start slow, but there's a lot of universe building going on. It's also worth noting the just about every line of dialog is important.
Having said all that, welcome to The Expanse. The best show EVER.
Glad you’re here too!
A fellow Star Wars and Trek fan brow beaten into watching and am forever grateful, you will enjoy. Amazing world building.
Practice your "wholey crap!!", "WTF?" and "OMG!!" face. You're gonna need it.
Best scifi show ever. Fight me.
You say that in an universe where Firefly exists...
Easily. :)
Best show ever, scifi or not.
Okay, so I'm typing this at work, in Stage A, where we shot THE EXPANSE (no, I'm not working on any Expanse-related show; calm down) and now you've uploaded your first episode reaction.
So, even though I didnt work on season one, it still feels a little full circley. And I just want to say two things:
1. Maybe pull back a bit from the comments. Expanse fans are notoriously enthusiastic with "sly" comments and you are too savvy for that. Ergo, unintentional spoilers are a danger, Willa Robinson! Or, get a mod squad to cull the spoileriffic comments. I dunno. This show is best experienced raw, even when there are times you can't quite figure out what's going on.
2. Enjoy.
(This also reminds me I owe some Firehawks some things. Sorry, gang!)
Tenya Wa Chesh Gut! Beltalowda!!
OK you can tell us what your working on that's Expanse related!! We won't tell anyone 😏
@@jamesholland5761 Yam seng! And I would never lie about that, I assure you.
...but I would never spoil any surprise if it were true! Silence is the best cover.
@@AngeloBarovierSD much respect! Just know that this show lives within me every day! I will be forever grateful to everyone involved from top to bottom! I miss my show 💔 I miss my family 😭
@@jamesholland5761 Appreciated! I was essentially just a maintenance guy in space, with no creative input, but it was - without any hyperbole - my favourite union show to work on.
I'm glad it lives on in people's hearts!
You are going to love this. This will blow you away. Can't wait to see your future reactions.
XO is military jargon. It stands for eXecutive Officer. Second in command.
There is 1 question no one can answer you:
"What is your Favorite Character from 'The Expanse' ?"
The reason: EVERY SINGLE named character would be the obvious choice in most other TV-Shows^^
Damn! So well said! I agree 100%!
Sorry if this was too spoilery! Deleted my comment.
@@mmagnenat easy now! She is just getting started. No names or titles yet! Please no spoilers! We are better than that!
I'm so excited that you're doing this series. It's the top tier of sci-fi shows. The first season is a little slow imo, but there is a lot of world building and concepts you have to get used to since it's far more realistic science wise than most shows set in space. It's superbly written and acted, plus it's not shy in showing the brutality of space travel.
There is a lot of mystery in this series, some of which won't be fully revealed until later seasons. There is not much that can be said about anything without spoilers, so I'll just let you make the discoveries naturally over the course of the series.
One thing to keep in mind is that there are no real bad or good guys, as most exist in a gray area, much like things are irl.
REMEMBER THE CANT!!
Best sci-fi show in a long time. And read the books. They are even better.
The story you reference is "The Cold Equations" by Tom Godwin. One of my all time favorite short stories. Definitely worth a read.
"That's.....something" ;) Oh, this is going to be so good :D hehe
So glad you are watching this, after 3 views it is the best character-driven sci-fi ever made (best science too)
Oh hell yes, another "The Expanse" Reactor! I look forward to watching you take this awesome ride! Brace yourself, there will be tons of questions and hell for many it even takes rewatching the entire Series to pick up on subtle details that are usually missed the first go round.
This is about the ONLY show I ever watched that does everything with a purpose that may be revealed immediately or even far out in the future of the show! Enjoy the ride!
Probably the best scifi show of the 21st century. BSG was great as well, but a bit of cheese at times.
Oh. My God.
The Expanse is IMO the best sci-fi I have seen in my life. Yes, I'm also a lifelong SW, ST, etc fan. You are going to LOVE THIS SHOW (stick thru the first half of Season 1, it gets exponentially better...)
I am SO HERE for all your reactions on this. I am incredibly jealous you are getting to watch this for the first time. :)
You might want to watch Babylon 5
Seen it. ", etc"
Subscribed for the Expanse, and also because you would try the flip & burn... Like everyone else is gonna say, you're going to have questions. But the answers, when they come, will be satisfying.
Hey cool. Always happy to find a new reactor discovering this amazing show!
Such an amazing show, slow burn for first few episodes for world building -- but so worth it after that.
YYYYYYYEEEEEEEEEESSSSSSSSSSS!!!!!!!!!!!
As much as I loved Breaking Bad, BCS, GoT, and Lost, I think The Expanse is prob my favorite show of all time.
WOAH that is some high praise!
@@funnylilgalreacts Once the slow burn is done and it gets going, it's so good. I hope you love it too.
YAY, the Expanse is probably one of my all time favorite shows, I hope you enjoy it!
This show is fantastic. If you are a reader, I can not recommend the books enough. Just for your notes, the first book actually takes place over the entire first season and half of season 2. Book 2 is just the second half of season 2.
The name of the short story you mentioned is 'The Cold Equations' by Tom Godwin, first published in 1954.
Ceres doe NOT control the Ice. It was mined out by Mars and Earth and the belt (including Ceres) gets their Ice from Saturn.
Everything else you will have to work out as the seasons progress.
A quick rundown of terminology:
OPA: Outer Planets Alliance (Political group representing the interests of Belters);
Gravity on ships is typically generated via thrust gravity (thrust generated through nuclear fusion tech and the ultra-efficient Epstein Drive);
"Juice" is an amphetamine cocktail intended to make it easier on the body to withstand extreme G-forces
I've been following, and been a fan of your reactions for some time(love them btw),but I VERY rarely comment. I mostly watch on my outdated roku/tv,which does not allow for comments. That being said,I am almost forced to respond when some is about to start some of the best content/television/scifi..that's available currently, even though its run is over! I have absolute confidence that you will love this show...its amazing, you're awesome, and I look forward to your journey with these characters!
Welcome to The world of The Expanse!
Just subscribed for The Expanse! I look forward to your journey into this amazing world!
This first season is a mystery. This show is based on real science in a very possible near future approximately 300yrs. There are no stereotype scifi things such as warp or hyper drives, no artificial gravity plating, no shields, and no space brakes. That's what the flip and burn move was. It impedes the velocity of direction in which the ship was traveling.
There are three main plot lines happening at once. Also there are no wasted lines or scenes in this show! This is a high brow told story so the writers don't hold your hand. If you allow yourself to get caught up in this world you will be treated to some of the most unbelievable story telling and emotional rollercoaster ride you have ever been on!
The fanbase is very good at helping when needed without spoilers!
Can't wait to take a ride along on your journey!
The (original) story you are thinking of is probably The Cold Equations by Tom Godwin. Originally is was a rescue mission delivering medical supplies at the very limit of range of the spaceship, and having a 18 year old stowaway meant that there wouldn't be sufficient fuel left to land at the destination. It has been widely adapted and dramatised.
There are a few stories with the basic concept of needing to make hard choices due to the harsh economics of space travel, you're probably referring to "The Cold Equation", where it wasn't matter of air, but of fuel, her added weight for take-off and landing would be too much and they'd crash, losing all medical supplies, so she has to be jettisoned to save the colony, she thought there'd merely be a fine, so she gets to say goodbye and then takes a long walk in a cold dark place.
The people of Mars are known as Martians. Both those that relocated there and those later who are born there. You've already met a Martian, but I'll leave who a mystery.
Some of the larger rocks mankind spun up to create artificial gravity within them to use as larger ports of destination. Ceres is one of them. This is a comparatively hard Sci-fi show in that there's only a little handwaving away from our knowledge of science and physics, no magic gravity generators, no faster than light, shields, tractor beams, etc. For mankind, the only major handwave is that they've created ultra-efficient fusion which allows their spacecraft to go faster and farther. Every moment of "accelerating" must have an equal force "decelerating" them, mass must be overcome to create inertia, etc.
For long trips, the ship burns fuel constantly accelerating, which simulates gravity, then flips the ship, so the thrusters are pointing at the destination, then burn again, slowing the ship down and restoring the illusion of gravity. During the flip, there's virtually no gravity, but simulated gravity for the rest of the trip. High G maneuvers that would have in the normal would fatal forces acting on the crew are minorly handwaved by having a drug that for a brief time strengthens the body against the trauma, but it can only work for so long before the drug itself can become fatal.
It probably wouldn't hurt to review Newton's laws of motion.
Not to mention a review of the planets and the Jovian moons.
Super efficient fusion, is not much of a hand wave, we are creating stuff like that as I text
Regardless favourite show and book on my list of top 5
If you follow the comments, you will inevitably get some poor advice.
There is no world building going on.
The world of The Expanse is amazing and fully realized in minute detail by the authors of The Expanse books. You are dropped into this fully-built world, and it's sink or swim for you as the viewer. Pay attention and seek understanding. Google something if you need to educate yourself. Look up Ceres to understand its importance in the asteroid belt.
The show starts out "slow" only if your mind is slow. It hits the ground running, but it is not a space opera. It is multiple mysteries with lots of clues being thrown at you in all of its multiple story lines. It makes for great commenting by a reactor mulling over those clues and ferreting out the answers to those mysteries. It's a "whodunit" set in the Sol system. There will eventually be some great action for action junkies, and you, to enjoy, but for now the authors/producers are laying the foundation for the various mysteries. The first three seasons are phenomenal, tremendous storytelling, the best ever shown on TV. The remainder of the show remains excellent entertainment, perhaps more character-driven than marvelous storytelling, and some people love the emphasis in character development, back story, and interaction. Six seaons are a lot to which to commit, but the show ends well, with the hint of more to come. It is the best show I've ever watched to series' end, and I'm 71 years old and addicted to sci-fi.
20:55 The original story was called "The Cold Equations", a few shows have done adaptations since it was originally written in the 50's.
The channel Dust I think did a great adaptation available here on UA-cam.
Yay!
New Expanse reactions!!
New sub :)
There will be mysteries and confusion at first.
Stick with it answers and reveals will unfold very organically and you'll be comfortable with everything in no time!
Hi Belinda! Glad you still find new reactions as well! 😁
@funnylilgalreacts - Well I hope you know there were 3 spin off series to Stargate (SG-1, Atlantis and Destiny) all amazing and ready for you to react to 17 seasons of 20 or so episodes a season.
Welcome to one of the very best tv shows ever produced, IMO; you're in for one heck of a ride. Strap in, cowboys!
Yes! IMO as well!
If you are still confused about The Expanse, after watching episode 4 you should watch alt-shift-x on The Expanse.
FINALLY!!!!! So glad to see you start the Expanse. You will love it
Welcome to the Expanse family!! IMO The best syfy show ever. Top 5 show overall. Enjoy!
Really glad to see another reactor doing The Expanse! I see you've done Arcane as well, so I'll have to go back and see those. I would also recommend the Altered Carbon series, and the recent Battlestar Galactica remake. Subbed.
Glad to see you reacting to this show. It is one of the best sci-fi shows ever made, imo. Buckle up, you are in for a great ride!
Omg I LOVE this show. Like, it's top 5 all time. Super excited to watch your reaction.
One of my favourite shows of all time from a reactor that is steadily becoming one of my favourites as well. Fantastic!
YES YES YES!!!, This show is amazing! I really appreciate most of the science is real science.
Just wait till it really gets going!
I was so confused watching the first episode. I’m glad I stuck with the show, it became my favorite tv show.
I'm sure someone has mentioned it, but the story where someone is jettisoned into space is "The Cold Equations" and it was made at least once for TV, in the Outer Limits reboot series, IIRC
The show starts quite slow but gets very intricate and awesome soon enough. So happy for you you're watching it now, it's a great Scifi show.
The air inside Ceres is "clean," however, air scrubbers are needed to filter excess CO2 to keep it breathable by humans.
Great reaction! The story you couldn't recall the name of where the pilot had to jettison the stowaway due to insufficient resources is called 'The Cold Equations' and I too thought of it when I started watching this show.
Subbed for The Expanse!
I have yet to rewatch this show, but I thought it was easily the best hard sci-fi story I've ever seen. Really excited to re-experience it with you!
The light distortion is UN Under-Secretary Avasarala (greatly impersonated by actress Shohreh Aghdashloo) doesn't appear in the first book of The Expanse... Leviathan Wakes... But her appearance sooner in the show is a plus to understand what's going on. & It's only the beginning... 😏
"The Cold Equations" is a short story about a little girl who stows away on a small transport ship, and the pilot has to jettison her due to an exact amount of fuel, and if she stays on board the ship will crash and they will both die.
The match in the coffee thing is never really explained in the show but is in the books. Holden grew up on earth so he got used to coffee grown there. Coffee grown in space doesn't taste right to him but shaving match heads into it makes it taste closer to what he misses.
Yay! this'll be a fun ride.
I'm really looking forward to your reactions and reviews for this series! Great vid, and thanks for diving into the Expanse with us.
Not only do SciFi fans love this show but so many scientists love this show because for the most part, they get the science right. And the science is as much a part of the plot as the mysteries are.
OMG I am so excited you are watching this series. It is a very deep, quite long series. I just introduced a friend of mine to this series on Saturday. It is exciting to see the show from a new fans eyes.
you'll love this show, picks up at around ep 6 of season 1
How god you're doing the Expanse ! Yes yes yes !
First season is a bit of a ramp up but trust me... This show is a masterpiece, and will leave you sad to let it go when it ends.
What if you have seen it to the end and you can't let it go? I need therapy 😩
I am SO HAPPY you gonna watch the expanse, I feel you will love it if you're into sci fi
The best part of this show is that it treats the viewer with respect. It isn't interested in patronizing you, doesn't treat you like an idiot, and is willing to demand your attention and focus to keep up. In return, it gives a beautifully crafted, complex, thought provoking, and visceral world and story that can only be told with that kind of relationship with the audience.
Strap in. This is a wild effin' ride!
I'm so envious of you, going to watch this for the first time. Can't wait for the next episode.
I do hope 🙏 your enjoy this show it needs so much more exposure 💕
The books are so good as well 100% recommend 👌
OMG Yes!!! Best Show ever!
Finally! This will be a fun ride, Beltalowda!
Tenya Wa Chesh Gut!
excited you have started the Expanse
this is my favorite show, so good it ruined other scifi for me, this is gonna be great
So beyond good it has totally ruined forever my watching TV for entertainment. Everything else is dump tripe by comparison and not worth the time.
You will have a lot of questions so be patient. They will get answered. Frustratingly though, they will lead to more questions. This show has a meta-plot, it's going somewhere. Things will make sense in retrospect.
So buckle up, get ready for The Juice, you're in for one HELL of a ride!! 😃
Yay, I'm glad to see you're exploring this series!
Probably One of the best sci fi shows out there! You are in for an absolute treat in story and character writing!
So excited to see you reacting to this show. You'll absolutely fall in love with the characters!
Something that took me way to long to realize is that on the small rocks like Ceres they live on the inside because they've been spun up like a carousel. I think because a lot of the space stuff sort of "makes sense", something like that which would never work in reality just took me forever to realize.
Anyway this is a great show, maybe on the simple side with the character depths but well made and way better than most TV
That's the reason ceres has no water/ice anymore iirc. I doesn't get answered in the show, but they converted all the ice into fuel for the thrusters spinning up Ceres.
An effect of the spin is, that the farther inward (or from the equator) you are, the lower the gravity and the higher the coriolis is. This makes the outer district the rich ones and the more inward ones the poor.
Living on the inside also protects the inhabitants from radiation and impacts from space. On earth the atmosphere does that, but Ceres has none.
You are gonna love this journey.Enjoy!!
Great series happy to see another reactor reacting :-)
best show ever!!
Yes! The Expanse!! I'm with you on this ride. (I'm too soft for the boys.)
Yay! another reactor! Welcome to the Expanse!
I believe the Medic is from Royal Pains
